Key Features
- 7075 Carbon Fibre Chassis Plates (2.5mm) — The SSX-125 is constructed from premium 2.5mm high-quality carbon fibre chassis plates that have been precisely machined with strategically placed cutouts to optimise both flex and rigidity. This design approach provides a nimble, responsive driving experience compared to the aluminium version, making it the ideal choice for racers seeking maximum performance on modern high-grip carpet tracks where responsiveness and cornering agility are paramount.
- Ultra-Low Centre of Gravity Design — By eliminating traditional design elements like a centre shock mounted on top of the battery, the SSX-125 significantly lowers its centre of gravity. The innovative rear damper system repositions mass toward the back of the chassis, resulting in measurably better cornering stability, improved handling under high loads, and superior grip through turns—critical advantages in competitive 1/12 scale racing.
- Advanced Rear Damper System — Instead of using a conventional centre shock, the SSX-125 employs an innovative rear pod damper with a friction-based system. Spring pre-load can be adjusted via the top nut, whilst an O-ring on an aluminium tube handles damping characteristics. This modern engineering approach not only lowers the centre of gravity but also provides smoother, more stable handling. A convenient set screw behind the damper allows you to adjust rear pod droop without affecting side-to-side movement, giving you fine-tuned control over your car's attitude on the track.
- Adjustable Ackermann Steering System — Fine-tune your steering characteristics with a simple two-screw adjustment system that lets you increase or decrease the Ackermann effect. This allows you to control how the front wheels turn relative to each other, optimising steering sensitivity and corner speed for any track condition, whether you're running a bumpy loose surface or a smooth high-grip carpet.
- Solid Front Suspension Arms with Fixed Geometry — The optimised front suspension features solid suspension arms that maintain a fixed camber angle of 0.5° and caster of 6°, geometry that has been proven to deliver excellent corner entry and exit characteristics. A carbon plate mounted on top adds additional rigidity, and crucially, it can be removed to introduce extra flex when you need it for different track conditions, giving you the tuning flexibility that competitive racers demand.
- Adjustable Chassis Flex Control — Carbon side braces mounted with aluminium posts allow you to tailor lateral chassis flex to match specific track conditions. Simply loosen the top screws for increased flex on bumpy or loose surfaces, or keep them tight on high-grip tracks for quicker, more direct corner exits. This feature exemplifies the SSX-125's commitment to comprehensive tuning options.
- Floating Servo Mount — The fully adjustable floating servo mount minimises interference with chassis flex and ensures your servo is perfectly centred. The design accommodates various mini-sized servos, which are the standard in 1/12 scale racing, helping you maintain a low weight and low centre of gravity whilst ensuring consistent steering performance under racing loads.
- Included Kimbrough Servo Saver — Protect your servo from damage during aggressive racing manoeuvres whilst maintaining precise steering input. This servo saver is essential when you're competing in tight, high-speed racing events where sudden steering inputs and track collisions are common occurrences.
- Link Suspension Rear Setup — The rear suspension employs two composite side links, an aluminium central hinge, and carefully planned geometry that provides smooth, precise movement. This classic, proven setup is renowned for reliability in 1/12 scale racing, ensuring your car remains competitive race after race.
- Solid Axle Design — Modern 1/12 scale racing tracks often feature high traction surfaces, making a solid axle the optimal solution. This lightweight, maintenance-free design ensures straightforward power transfer from the motor to the tyres, reducing complexity and potential points of failure whilst maintaining consistent performance.
- Eccentric Plastic Bushings for Ride Height — Adjust your ride height quickly and precisely using eccentric plastic bushings. The composite material also absorbs impacts, acting as a cushion to protect the axle and bearings during collisions, extending the life of your drivetrain components and reducing maintenance requirements.
- 1S LiPo Battery Compatibility — The SSX-125 accepts standard 1S LiPo battery packs in a 93 × 47 mm battery tray, ensuring perfect fitment and allowing you to use readily available, affordable battery options. This is an essential feature for competitive racers who need reliable power delivery and the flexibility to choose from multiple battery manufacturers.
- 64DP Spur & Pinion Gears — The chassis comes equipped with a 64DP, 90-tooth spur gear, whilst precision 64DP pinion gears are available separately for fine-tuning gear ratios to match your track conditions, driving style, and motor choice, providing the customisation necessary for competitive advantage.
- Pre-Cut Maintenance Access Holes — Thoughtfully designed pre-cut holes in the chassis expose key adjustment screws for quick modifications and maintenance. This hassle-free design minimises disassembly on race day, saving you valuable time and keeping your car track-ready without unnecessary fiddling.
- Recommended Motor Compatibility — For Modified Class racing, Team Corally recommends the 6.5T Vulcan II motor, offering extreme power and speed for competitive racing. Stock Class racers can choose from other Vulcan II motor options including 13.5T and 17.5T variants to comply with specific race rules and regulations.
- Attack Racing Tyre Options — The SSX-125 is compatible with Attack Racing foam tyres available in 30, 32, and 35 shore ratings for both front and rear positions. These premium tyres provide excellent grip and consistent performance across different track conditions, feature a sleek dark metallic silver design, and require no tyre truing, allowing you to hit the track faster and focus on driving performance.
Technical Performance
The SSX-125 represents a leap forward in 1/12 scale pan car engineering, combining premium materials with advanced design philosophy to deliver measurable performance advantages. The 2.5mm carbon fibre chassis plates provide exceptional rigidity whilst maintaining the flex characteristics that modern racing demands, striking the perfect balance between precision steering response and compliance over track imperfections. The ultra-low centre of gravity design, achieved by eliminating the traditional centre shock and repositioning the rear damper system, fundamentally changes how the car handles, particularly through mid-corner and on corner exit where cornering speed is maximised. With a fixed front suspension geometry of 0.5° camber and 6° caster, the SSX-125 delivers excellent corner entry and exit characteristics, whilst the innovative rear damper system with friction-based damping and adjustable pre-load provides the mechanical compliance necessary for consistent grip on modern carpet tracks. The solid rear axle design is lightweight and maintenance-free, ideal for high-traction indoor environments, whilst the eccentric plastic bushings allow quick ride height adjustments to dial in the perfect chassis attitude. For motor compatibility, the 6.5T Vulcan II is recommended for Modified Class racing, though Stock Class alternatives from the Vulcan II range are available. The 64DP spur and pinion gear system, combined with the 1S LiPo battery compatibility (standard 93 × 47 mm tray), provides a complete platform for competitive 1/12 scale racing. Every aspect of the SSX-125, from the adjustable Ackermann steering system to the tailorable chassis flex via carbon side braces, has been engineered to provide the tuning versatility that separates winning setups from merely competitive ones.
