Overview
The TEAM ASSOCIATED B6.3 FT STEEL BULKHEAD 20 DEGREE (AS91899) is a Factory Team performance upgrade designed specifically for serious RC buggy enthusiasts in the UK who demand competition-grade components. This steel bulkhead represents a significant suspension geometry modification that allows you to fine-tune your RC10B6.3 or compatible Associated model for optimal handling characteristics. Whether you are competing in club races, weekend bashers, or seeking to extract maximum performance from your 1/10 scale buggy, this Factory Team component delivers the precision engineering expected from one of the most respected names in RC racing.
Bulkheads are critical structural and functional components of any RC buggy chassis. The bulkhead forms the mounting point for your suspension system, steering linkages, and various other vital components. By upgrading to the 20-degree steel variant from Team Associated's Factory Team range, you gain access to a precision-engineered part that has been tested and refined through countless hours of competitive racing. The steel construction provides superior durability compared to standard components, whilst the 20-degree angle geometry modification allows you to adjust your vehicle's handling balance and steering response. This is the kind of upgrade that separates competitive drivers from casual enthusiasts.
What makes this bulkhead particularly valuable is the inclusion of specialised hardware designed to address one of the most common handling issues in RC buggies: bump steer. Bump steer—the unwanted change in steering angle as your suspension moves vertically over bumps and obstacles—can severely compromise both handling predictability and cornering speed. Associated has engineered this package with carbon fibre spacers and longer screws specifically intended to correct this issue when installed properly. If you are serious about improving your RC car's handling in the UK's variable terrain and weather conditions, this is an upgrade worth considering.
Key Features
- Factory Team Steel Construction — The bulkhead is manufactured from steel rather than standard materials, providing exceptional durability and rigidity that resists flexing under cornering loads and aggressive driving. This ensures consistent performance lap after lap, race after race.
- 20-Degree Geometry Configuration — The 20-degree angle modification alters your buggy's suspension geometry compared to standard bulkheads, allowing you to adjust steering response, camber curves, and overall handling balance to suit different track conditions and driving styles.
- Bump Steer Correction Hardware Included — Carbon fibre spacers are supplied specifically to help eliminate bump steer when properly installed on your steering block and steering arm. This hardware is engineered to raise the steering plate and optimise the geometry of your steering linkage.
- Longer Mounting Screws — Extended screws are provided to accommodate the carbon fibre spacers and ensure secure fastening of the steering plate with proper clamping force. These are precision-engineered to specification for safe and reliable installation.
- Ball Stud Configuration — The design allows the ball stud on the steering plate to be flipped, providing additional geometry adjustment options to fine-tune your vehicle's steering characteristics and response.
- Wide Model Compatibility — This bulkhead fits an extensive range of Associated RC10 series vehicles including the B6.3, B6.2, B6.1, T6.1, T6.2, and SC6 variants, making it a versatile upgrade for owners with multiple models or those looking to future-proof their investment.
- Factory Team Racing Heritage — This component comes from Associated's Factory Team line, the same specification parts used by professional racing teams worldwide. You are purchasing proven competition-grade engineering.
Technical Performance
The TEAM ASSOCIATED B6.3 FT STEEL BULKHEAD 20 DEGREE represents serious engineering for competitive RC buggy racing. The steel construction provides measurably greater rigidity than standard bulkhead materials, which translates to more consistent handling and improved energy transfer through corners. The 20-degree angle geometry is Factory Team's proven configuration for balancing steering response with stability across a variety of track surfaces. The included carbon fibre spacers are precision-manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring proper alignment when installed. The longer screws accommodate these spacers whilst maintaining proper clamp load on all fastening points. The bump steer correction hardware has been developed through countless hours of competitive testing by professional drivers and engineers, allowing you to eliminate the handling inconsistencies that occur when your suspension compresses over track obstacles. The ball stud flip capability provides additional micro-adjustments for drivers who want to dial in their steering geometry to the millimetre. All components are designed to work seamlessly with the Associated RC10B6.3 and compatible chassis platforms, which are recognised worldwide as some of the most competitive 1/10 scale off-road buggies available. For UK RC racers competing in club championships and regional events, this Factory Team upgrade represents the kind of precision component that can make measurable differences in lap times and overall competitiveness.
What's in the Box
- Steel bulkhead (20-degree configuration)
- Carbon fibre spacers
- Longer mounting screws for steering plate assembly
- Installation manual supplement
Installation and Compatibility
Installation of this bulkhead requires removing your existing steering block and steering arm assembly, then fitting the supplied carbon fibre spacers to these components. The ball stud on the steering plate must be flipped to the appropriate position for your desired geometry. The longer screws supplied in this kit must be used to replace your current steering plate screws when the spacers are installed, as standard screws will not accommodate the additional height. Detailed installation instructions are provided in the manual supplement included with this product. The bulkhead is specifically engineered for compatibility with the following Associated RC10 series vehicles: RC10B6.1, RC10B6.1D, RC10B6.1DL, RC10B6.2, RC10B6.2D, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.3D, RC10SC6.1, RC10SC6.2, RC10T6.1, and RC10T6.2. Before installation, verify that your specific model appears on this compatibility list.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What exactly is bump steer and why does this bulkhead help correct it? — Bump steer is an unwanted change in your vehicle's steering angle as the suspension moves up and down over bumps and track obstacles. This causes unpredictable steering behaviour that makes it difficult to maintain consistent lines through corners. The carbon fibre spacers included with this bulkhead raise the steering plate geometry, which adjusts the angle of your steering linkage and reduces the amount of steering angle change that occurs during suspension movement. Correcting bump steer is one of the most important handling adjustments for competitive racing.
- Is this suitable for beginners or just experienced racers? — This is a performance upgrade component best suited to drivers with some RC buggy experience who understand suspension geometry and steering setup. Installation requires careful attention to detail and proper understanding of steering linkage geometry. Beginners to RC buggies should focus on learning their vehicle's basics before attempting suspension geometry modifications. However, if you are a beginner committed to improving your skills with a view to competitive racing, this is the kind of Factory Team component that will serve you well as you progress.
- What is the difference between the 20-degree bulkhead and other angles? — The angle refers to the steering geometry configuration, which affects how your buggy responds to steering input and how the suspension geometry changes as the vehicle moves vertically. The 20-degree configuration is Factory Team's recommended specification for balanced performance across most track conditions. Different angle configurations suit different driving styles and track layouts; 20 degrees represents a proven all-around setup for competitive racing.
- Can I install this bulkhead myself or do I need professional help? — Installation requires removing your steering block and steering arm assembly, carefully fitting the carbon fibre spacers, flipping the ball stud, and installing the longer screws. If you have experience working on RC buggies and are comfortable with suspension work, you can follow the included manual supplement. If you are unsure about any step, we recommend consulting the detailed instructions or seeking advice from experienced RC racers in your local community.
- Is this compatible with my Associated RC10B6.2 or other B6 series model? — This bulkhead is compatible with a wide range of Associated RC10 series vehicles. Check the compatibility list provided: it fits the RC10B6.1, RC10B6.1D, RC10B6.1DL, RC10B6.2, RC10B6.2D, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.3D, RC10SC6.1, RC10SC6.2, RC10T6.1, and RC10T6.2. If your specific model appears on this list, this bulkhead will work with your vehicle.
- What makes Factory Team components different from standard Associated parts? — Factory Team components are precision-engineered parts that meet the demanding requirements of professional racing teams competing worldwide. They undergo extensive testing and refinement through competitive racing. Steel construction, tighter tolerances, and optimised geometry represent the specifications preferred by top drivers and engineers. Using Factory Team components allows you to upgrade your RC car with the same parts trusted by professionals.
