Technical Performance
The RC10B7.1D is engineered from the ground up as a track-focused racing machine that delivers the performance, precision, and reliability that competitive racers demand. The 3-gear laydown transmission reduces drag for sharper acceleration and improved throttle response, whilst the 7075-T6 aluminium chassis provides a rigid foundation that resists flexing during hard cornering. The optional weight plate pockets enable you to fine-tune the weight distribution to achieve a lower centre of gravity and optimise handling balance for your specific driving style and track surface. The long-arm suspension geometry, combined with the new KPI-adjustable steering blocks, dramatically expands the tuning window available to drivers, allowing you to extract maximum grip and corner speed from whatever track surface you're racing on. The 13mm big-bore shocks with adjustable turnbuckles provide excellent damping control and heat dissipation, ensuring consistent performance throughout intensive racing sessions. With an internal gear ratio of 2.60:1 and a 2WD drive system, the RC10B7.1D delivers predictable, controllable power delivery that rewards smooth driving technique. The aerodynamic bodywork, featuring a low-profile RC10B7 body with 7-inch rear wing and 2.5-inch front wing, provides excellent stability and downforce for confident, predictable handling at racing speeds. This is a genuine competition-grade RC buggy kit that has been proven on dirt, clay, and low-grip AstroTurf tracks across the United Kingdom and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the RC10B7.1D suitable for beginners to RC racing? — The RC10B7.1D is recommended as a starting point for those planning to race competitively on dirt, clay, and low-grip AstroTurf tracks. Whilst it is a race-focused kit rather than a beginner's toy, it is not excessively difficult to build if you have basic mechanical skills and patience. The kit requires full assembly, so you'll need tools, a motor, ESC, servo, batteries, and a radio system to complete it. If you're new to RC racing in the UK, you may want to consider starting with a ready-to-run model first to understand the basics, but if you're committed to racing, this is an excellent choice.
- What motor and ESC should I use with the RC10B7.1D? — The RC10B7.1D is designed to work with brushless motors in the 6.5T to 10.5T range, depending on your track type and racing style. Lower KV motors (such as 10.5T motors) provide more torque and are better for tight, technical tracks, whilst higher KV motors (such as 6.5T motors) provide more top speed for open, flowing tracks. You'll need a brushless ESC rated for 2S LiPo batteries and compatible with your chosen motor. The ESC should be mounted in the centralised electronics layout that the B7.1D chassis provides.
- What battery does this need? — The RC10B7.1D is designed to run on 2S LiPo batteries, which provide 7.6V nominal voltage. Battery capacity typically ranges from 3000mAh to 5000mAh depending on your power requirements and runtime preferences. Many UK racers use 4400mAh or 4800mAh BRCA-approved shorty format batteries for optimal performance. You'll also need a LiPo-compatible battery charger and a balance charger lead to safely charge your batteries.
- How does the RC10B7.1D compare to the RC10B7.1? — The RC10B7.1D is the newer generation and incorporates several improvements over the earlier RC10B7.1, including new steering and caster block assemblies, updated front suspension arms with hinge pin braces, new shock tower options, and refined tunability throughout the chassis. However, the two models feature fully interchangeable parts, meaning you can mix and match components between them depending on track conditions and your tuning preferences. The RC10B7.1D is the recommended choice for new purchases, but if you already own an RC10B7.1, you can upgrade it with B7.1D components to achieve similar performance characteristics.
- What track types is the RC10B7.1D designed for? — Team Associated specifically recommends the RC10B7.1D for racing on dirt tracks, clay tracks, and some low-grip AstroTurf surfaces. The ball differential and optimised setup with softer springs and lower-pack pistons are tuned for these surface types. If you race on different track surfaces, you may want to adjust your setup and components accordingly.
- What tools do I need to build this kit? — You'll need a selection of hex drivers (1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, and 3.0mm are standard for 1/10 scale RC cars), a screwdriver set, and possibly some specialist RC tools like a turnbuckle wrench. Most UK RC hobby shops sell complete tool sets designed specifically for 1/10 scale RC cars. You should also have thread-locking compound on hand for securing fasteners.
- Can I upgrade parts on the RC10B7.1D as my racing improves? — Absolutely. One of the key advantages of the RC10B7.1D is the wide range of available upgrade and optional parts that are compatible with the chassis. You can upgrade your motor, ESC, servo, shocks, suspension arms, and many other components as your budget and racing skills improve. The fully interchangeable parts system with the RC10B7.1 means the aftermarket support is extensive.
