Overview
The Team Associated RC8B4.1 to B3 16 Degree KPI Conversion Kit is a genuine manufacturer option part designed for racers and RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune the steering geometry of their RC8B4.1 platform. Whether you're competing at a local track, running weekend practice sessions, or simply exploring advanced tuning options for your RC car UK setup, this conversion kit from Team Associated provides a professional-grade solution to optimise your buggy's front-end performance. By converting from the standard 8 Degree KPI to the optional 16 Degree KPI geometry, drivers can unlock different handling characteristics that suit various track conditions and personal driving preferences.
Kingpin inclination (KPI) is a critical suspension geometry angle that influences how your RC buggy's steering responds, affects mid-corner balance, and determines the tyre contact patch as steering angle changes. This conversion kit allows you to adopt the B3-style 16 Degree KPI setup directly onto your RC8B4.1 or RC8B4.1e buggy, giving you access to tuning options previously exclusive to other platforms. Team Associated engineers have carefully engineered each KPI setting to excel in different scenarios, and the 16 Degree KPI is particularly effective when you need a less responsive front end that will resist direction change as you power through chop and bumps. This makes it an ideal choice for any racer who struggles with front-end overpowering the rear, especially on bumpy tracks with lower grip conditions where stability through undulating terrain is essential.
All three essential parts needed for either a nitro or electric buggy conversion are included within this single kit, eliminating the need to source components separately. The conversion is straightforward, with an included instruction supplement and access to a dedicated YouTube installation video by Richard Saxton (linked via QR code), making the process accessible whether you're upgrading for the first time or you're an experienced RC racer in the UK with multiple buggies in your collection.
Key Features

- Aluminium Front Shock Tower — The lightweight yet rigid aluminium construction ensures durability while maintaining precise geometry under the stresses of competitive off-road buggy racing, protecting your suspension tuning investment.
- RC8B3 Steering Blocks with 16 Degree KPI — These genuine steering blocks are engineered to deliver the specific 16 Degree KPI geometry that provides a less responsive, more stable front end, perfect for conditions where you need to resist unwanted direction changes.
- RC8B4 Upper Link Mount — This component integrates seamlessly with your existing RC8B4.1 platform, ensuring proper geometry alignment and suspension geometry consistency throughout the conversion.
- Professional Installation Support — An included instruction supplement plus access to a YouTube installation video by respected RC tuner Richard Saxton means you can follow along step-by-step, whether you're converting your first RC buggy or managing multiple vehicles in your fleet.
- Nitro and Electric Compatible — This conversion kit works on both nitro-powered and electric RC8B4.1 buggies, making it a versatile upgrade for any platform variant you own.
- Optional RC8T4 Truggy Conversion Available — With the addition of parts purchased separately, racers can also apply the 16 Degree KPI geometry to the RC8T4 and RC8T4e truggy platform, extending the versatility of this tuning option across your RC car collection.
- Manufacturer-Developed Engineering — As an official Team Associated option part, every component has been designed, tested and validated by the engineers who create the original platform, ensuring genuine performance improvements.
Technical Performance
The RC8B4.1 to B3 16 Degree KPI Conversion Kit represents a sophisticated suspension geometry upgrade that allows drivers to fundamentally alter how their RC buggy behaves at the front axle. Kingpin inclination is the angle of the steering kingpin relative to vertical, and adjusting this angle has profound effects on steering response, tyre wear patterns, and how the buggy handles transitions through corners and over challenging terrain. The 16 Degree KPI geometry integrated into this kit excels particularly in scenarios where a less responsive front end is advantageous—such as bumpy, lower-grip track surfaces where the front tyres are prone to oversteering or washing out. The aluminium construction of the front shock tower provides the lightweight rigidity necessary for precise geometry control without adding excess weight that would affect acceleration and handling. The RC8B3 steering blocks have been engineered with the correct kingpin angle to deliver this 16 Degree geometry consistently, while the RC8B4 upper link mount ensures proper suspension kinematics and ride height geometry. This conversion is compatible with both nitro-powered RC8B4.1 buggies and electric RC8B4.1e variants, meaning whether you prefer the traditional power delivery of nitro engines or the clean, consistent performance of brushless electric systems, you can benefit from this tuning upgrade. The geometry change is significant enough to noticeably affect handling balance across different track conditions, making this an essential tool for racers in the UK seeking competitive advantages through suspension tuning.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is KPI and why should I adjust it on my RC8B4.1 buggy? — KPI stands for Kingpin Inclination, which is the angle of the steering kingpin relative to vertical. Adjusting KPI changes how your buggy's front end responds to steering input, affects the tyre contact patch during cornering, and influences mid-corner balance. The 16 Degree KPI setting in this kit provides a less responsive front end that resists direction change, making it ideal for bumpy tracks or situations where your front end tends to overpower the rear, especially in lower-grip conditions.
- Will this conversion fit my RC8B4.1? — Yes, this kit is specifically engineered for RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e buggies. All three essential parts needed for conversion are included, whether you run a nitro or electric version of the platform.
- Can I use these parts on my RC8T4 truggy? — Yes, with the addition of parts purchased separately, you can also apply the 16 Degree KPI geometry to RC8T4 and RC8T4e truggies. Team Associated sells an RC8T4 Front Tower, V2, 16 Degree KPI separately for customers wanting to make this conversion.
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of 16 Degree KPI compared to the standard 8 Degree? — The 16 Degree KPI excels when you need a less responsive front end that resists direction change as you power through chop and bumps. It's particularly advantageous on bumpy, lower-grip tracks where the front end tends to overpower the rear. Each KPI setting has its own strengths and weaknesses, so the choice between 8 Degree and 16 Degree depends on your track conditions and driving style.
- Is this a difficult conversion to complete myself? — The conversion is straightforward and suitable for racers with moderate mechanical experience. You'll receive an instruction supplement with step-by-step guidance, plus access to a dedicated YouTube installation video by respected RC tuner Richard Saxton via QR code link, making the process clear and manageable.
- Are spares available if I damage a component? — Yes, spares are sold separately. If you need to replace any individual component, Team Associated sells the aluminium front shock tower, steering blocks, and upper link mount as separate parts.
- Will this conversion work on both my nitro and electric RC8B4.1 buggies? — Absolutely. This is a geometry conversion kit that works with both nitro-powered RC8B4.1 buggies and electric RC8B4.1e variants, making it a versatile upgrade for any RC8B4.1 platform.
