Overview

The Team Associated RC10 '91 Stealth Car Rear Shock Tower (AS6774) is an authentic replacement component for one of the most iconic racing buggies in RC history. This genuine spare part is essential for anyone maintaining, repairing, or restoring a classic RC10 '91 Stealth buggy—a legendary platform that captured the 1991 IFMAR 1/10 Scale Off-Road World Championship in the hands of Japanese racing icon Masami Hirosaka. Whether you're a serious collector, competitive racer, or enthusiast looking to keep your RC car UK racing-ready, this rear shock tower provides the critical mounting point that supports your vehicle's advanced suspension geometry and ensures reliable performance on demanding track surfaces.

Originally engineered as part of Team Associated's championship-winning design, the RC10 '91 Stealth represented cutting-edge innovation in competitive RC racing. The rear shock tower is a fundamental structural component that allows the legendary long-stroke shock springs and hard anodised coil-over shocks to function as intended, delivering the smooth bump absorption and precise handling that made Masami's World Championship victory possible. This is not a beginner's toy—it's a precision-engineered spare for serious RC enthusiasts who understand the heritage and technical excellence of classic off-road racing buggies.

Sourcing correct replacement parts for vintage RC10 platforms can be challenging, making this genuine AS6774 rear shock tower an invaluable find for anyone committed to maintaining period-correct builds or keeping their classic buggy running reliably. As an authorised Team Associated retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM spares to ensure your restoration or repair project maintains the authenticity and performance standards that define this legendary racing platform.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Associated OEM Component — This is an authentic manufacturer part designed and tested for the RC10 '91 Stealth buggy, ensuring compatibility and reliability that aftermarket alternatives cannot guarantee. Using genuine spares preserves your vehicle's performance characteristics and resale value for collectors.
  • Rear Shock Mounting Functionality — The rear shock tower serves as the dedicated mounting point for the vehicle's rear suspension shocks, which are absolutely critical to the buggy's handling, traction, and bump absorption on clay tracks and off-road terrain. A damaged or worn tower directly compromises suspension performance.
  • Support for Advanced Suspension Geometry — The RC10 '91 Stealth featured a full race-tuned suspension with long-arm independent suspension design and hard anodised coil-over shocks. This tower supports the carefully calculated A-arm/ball joint design that permits static camber, camber rise, caster, ride height and spring rate tuning—precision adjustments that separate championship-winning setups from ordinary builds.
  • Compatible with Long-Stroke Shock Springs — The rear tower is engineered to work seamlessly with the RC10 '91 Stealth's copper shock springs and long-stroke shock package, maintaining the exact ride height and spring preload characteristics that Masami Hirosaka dialled in for victory at the 1991 World Championship in Detroit, Michigan.
  • Durable Construction for Extended Use — As part of the original race-specification design, this component was built to withstand the demanding punishment of competitive off-road racing, including rhythm sections, berms, jumps and sustained high-grip clay track conditions that pushed the limits of RC engineering in 1991.

Technical Performance

The RC10 '91 Stealth Car represented a revolutionary step forward in 1/10-scale electric off-road buggy design, and every component—including this rear shock tower—was engineered with championship-level precision. The vehicle featured a CNC-machined aluminium chassis paired with a carbon fibre top plate, creating a lightweight yet rigid platform capable of handling extreme track forces. The rear shock tower supports the long-arm independent suspension system, which utilised hard anodised coil-over shocks with ball bearing construction for smooth, predictable damping characteristics across varying track surfaces and bump frequencies. The copper shock springs and long-stroke design allowed for fine-tuned suspension geometry adjustments including static camber, camber rise, caster and ride height modifications—critical tuning parameters that enabled precise setup optimisation for specific track conditions. Built to integrate seamlessly with the rear arm mounts and rear suspension arms, this tower maintains the exact geometric relationships that made the RC10 '91 Stealth's handling exceptional. The hard anodised shock bodies and black anodised shock caps provided both durability and corrosion resistance, essential characteristics for a race platform that would see intensive use and maintenance cycles. This component's engineering reflects Team Associated's commitment to uncompromising performance standards in competitive racing, making it equally suitable for authentic period-correct restorations or active racing application.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the RC10 '91 Stealth and why is it historically significant? — The RC10 '91 Stealth was the legendary off-road buggy piloted by Masami Hirosaka to victory in the 1991 IFMAR 1/10 Scale Off-Road World Championship held in Detroit, Michigan. This victory cemented Team Associated's dominance in competitive RC racing and the platform is now recognised as one of the most iconic race-winning machines in RC history. The vehicle's double deck chassis, Stealth transmission, and race-optimised suspension geometry represented cutting-edge engineering that influenced future generations of off-road racing platforms.
  • Is this rear shock tower suitable for beginners, or is it for experienced builders only? — This is a genuine OEM spare component for the RC10 '91 Stealth buggy, so installation requires mechanical knowledge and understanding of suspension setup. This is not a beginner product—it's intended for experienced RC enthusiasts, collectors, and competitive racers who are already familiar with RC10 platforms and have suspension tuning experience. If you are new to RC buggies, we recommend starting with a ready-to-run RC car UK and developing foundational skills before attempting component-level repairs.
  • Will this rear shock tower fit other RC buggy platforms? — No, this AS6774 rear shock tower is specifically engineered for the RC10 '91 Stealth Car. It will not be compatible with other RC10 generations or alternative buggy platforms. Always verify part numbers when sourcing spares—using incorrect components can compromise suspension geometry and handling performance.
  • What does the rear shock tower do, and why is it important? — The rear shock tower serves as the critical mounting point for your vehicle's rear suspension shocks, which are essential components for absorbing bumps, maintaining traction and controlling the buggy's ride height and geometry. If the rear tower is cracked, bent or damaged, your suspension cannot function correctly, leading to poor handling, inconsistent traction and potential component failure. This is why sourcing a genuine replacement is crucial for maintaining championship-level performance.
  • How do I know if my rear shock tower needs replacement? — Signs of a damaged rear shock tower include visible cracks or bending, inconsistent shock damping feel, uneven ride height between left and right sides, or difficulty maintaining proper suspension geometry adjustments. If you notice these symptoms during RC car UK racing or casual driving, inspect the rear tower closely and consider replacement if damage is visible.
  • Is this part compatible with the 1991 Masami Edition Kit? — Yes, this AS6774 rear shock tower is fully compatible with the RC10 '91 Stealth Car Masami Edition Kit, which replicates Masami Hirosaka's championship-winning setup. If you are building or maintaining a Masami Edition kit, this is the correct genuine component for the rear suspension mounting.
