Technical Performance
The AS6733 rear shock tower represents the pinnacle of 1980s RC engineering, designed specifically for the Stealth Car's advanced suspension geometry that earned it a place in RC racing history. The tower is engineered to work with hard-anodised coil-over shock bodies, enabling smooth bump absorption and consistent ride height maintenance across varied track surfaces—a critical advantage in off-road racing where track conditions can change dramatically during competition. The component integrates with universal driveshafts and the Stealth's distinctive long-arm independent suspension architecture, which distributes suspension forces more effectively than conventional designs, improving traction and stability. The rear shock tower's precise positioning supports the ball-joint and A-arm suspension design that permits static camber, camber rise, caster, ride height, and spring rate adjustments, allowing competitive racers to tune their RC10 '89 Stealth for specific track conditions. Built with the same attention to detail as the original championship prototype, the AS6733 maintains the low-profile design philosophy that contributed to the Stealth Car's superior performance and handling balance—factors that made it such a formidable competitor in the hands of the world's greatest RC driver. The component's engineering ensures compatibility with the 89' Stealth-specific rear arm mounts, rear bulkhead, and suspension arms that define the complete RC10 '89 Stealth platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the AS6733 rear shock tower compatible with other RC10 platforms? — This component is specifically engineered for the RC10 '89 Stealth Car platform and is designed to work with the Stealth's unique long-arm independent suspension geometry, rear arm mounts, and rear bulkhead. Whilst Team Associated's RC10 platform has maintained legacy compatibility in some areas, this particular tower is identified for the '89 Stealth application and should be matched with complete Stealth-specification suspension components for proper geometry and performance.
- What makes this rear shock tower different from standard RC10 components? — The RC10 '89 Stealth was a radical evolution of the original RC10, featuring revolutionary innovations including a compact Stealth transmission, narrowed and milled aluminium chassis, and specifically revised rear suspension geometry. The AS6733 rear shock tower reflects this advanced design, incorporating longer suspension arm positioning and revised shock geometry that were specifically engineered to improve traction, stability, and handling balance—factors that contributed directly to Masami Hirosaka's dominant 1989 World Championship victory.
- Can I use this component to restore a vintage RC10 '89 Stealth? — Yes, the AS6733 is an ideal replacement component for restoring an original or vintage RC10 '89 Stealth platform. This genuine Team Associated part number ensures authenticity and proper fitment for period-correct restoration work, and it's available as a direct replacement when refreshing worn suspension components on classic RC buggies.
- What tools do I need to install the AS6733 rear shock tower? — Installation will require standard hex drivers and screwdrivers compatible with Team Associated fasteners. The tower bolts directly to the RC10 '89 Stealth chassis and integrates with the rear arm mounts and rear bulkhead components using the same fastening points as the original design, making installation straightforward for anyone familiar with RC car assembly.
- Is this suitable for beginners building an RC10 '89 Stealth? — The RC10 '89 Stealth platform is a serious competition-grade 1/10 off-road buggy designed for experienced builders and competitive racers rather than beginners. However, the AS6733 rear shock tower itself is a straightforward component to install once you understand RC car assembly fundamentals. If you're new to RC car building, consider starting with an RTR (ready to run) vehicle before tackling a full assembly kit.
- Does this component require any special maintenance? — The AS6733 rear shock tower is a passive structural component that requires no special maintenance beyond normal RC car upkeep. You should periodically inspect the shock mounting points, ensure fasteners remain tight after use, and check that the suspension geometry remains properly aligned for optimal performance—standard maintenance practices for any competitive RC buggy.
- What is the history behind the RC10 '89 Stealth Car? — The RC10 '89 Stealth was a prototype designed in secrecy by Team Associated specifically for the 1989 IFMAR 1/10 Off-Road World Championships held in St. Ives, Australia. Piloted by Masami Hirosaka—widely recognised as the most successful RC racer of all time with 14 IFMAR World Championship titles—the Stealth Car featured groundbreaking innovations including a low-profile Stealth transmission (a compact three-gear unit with internal slipper clutch), narrowed and milled aluminium chassis, carbon fibre and titanium construction, and advanced suspension geometry with longer rear arms and revised shock positioning. Masami's victory shocked competitors who had never even seen the car before, and the Stealth's design innovations directly influenced Team Associated's future vehicles and permanently reshaped competitive RC buggy engineering standards worldwide.
