Overview
The Team Associated RC10CC Classic Clear Edition Kit (AS6004) represents a landmark moment in RC hobby history. This is an authentic, faithful reproduction of Roger Curtis's legendary RC10 buggy that revolutionised off-road RC racing when it was first introduced in 1984. Now celebrating 40 years of iconic heritage, this special edition kit features a stunning crystal-clear polycarbonate finish inspired by Team Associated's own SLA prototype display vehicles. Whether you're a serious RC car UK collector, a dedicated enthusiast, or someone who appreciates the historical significance of this legendary machine, the RC10CC Classic Clear Edition delivers genuine racing pedigree combined with practical, user-friendly engineering that makes it accessible to builders of varying skill levels.
What sets this ready to run RC buggy apart from modern designs is its timeless engineering philosophy. The RC10 started as the vision of Team Associated's founder Roger Curtis ("RC") and became one of the most iconic RC cars in history, fundamentally changing the world of RC off-road racing forever. The RC10CC faithfully reproduces that legendary design while incorporating modern manufacturing techniques and materials. The kit is specifically manufactured as a display piece for your collection, though whilst the clear polycarbonate components are stronger than traditional SLA resin and theoretically could be driven, they are optimised for showcase appeal rather than competitive track use. The unique crystal-clear body panels, chassis components and structural elements create a visually striking appearance that allows you to see the intricate internal engineering—a feature unavailable in any other RC buggy kit on the market.
This is a kit-build RC car, meaning assembly is required, making it perfect for enthusiasts who enjoy the building process and want complete control over their setup. The RC10CC combines race-winning engineering with accessible construction, featuring a rigid aluminium monocoque tub chassis, fully adjustable suspension, and all the mechanical sophistication of a genuine racing buggy. If you're searching for an electric RC buggy UK that combines heritage, aesthetic appeal, and authentic engineering excellence, the Associated RC10CC Classic Clear Edition is an unparalleled choice.

The clear construction lets you appreciate the engineering whilst maintaining aerodynamic authenticity.
- Precision-Moulded Nylon Suspension Components — The suspension arms and brackets are precision-moulded in durable nylon that can be easily custom colour-dyed, allowing you to personalise the appearance whilst maintaining mechanical performance and durability.
- Oilite Bushings Throughout — These self-lubricating bronze bushings provide smooth operation and require minimal maintenance, contributing to the ease of ownership and long component lifespan.
- Exceptional Ground Clearance and Low Centre of Gravity — The design philosophy prioritises both ground clearance for obstacle negotiation and a low centre of gravity for superior balance and stability. This combination creates a responsive, predictable handling characteristic across all terrain types.
- Compatibility with 6-Cell NiMH and 2S LiPo Battery Packs — The updated chassis design accommodates both traditional 6-cell NiMH batteries and modern 2S LiPo packs, giving you flexibility in power source selection based on your performance preferences and budget.
Technical Performance
The RC10CC Classic Clear Edition represents a masterclass in RC engineering fundamentals refined through four decades of racing heritage. The chassis utilises a rigid T6 aircraft aluminium monocoque construction, which provides exceptional torsional stiffness whilst remaining lightweight—a critical factor in responsive handling and efficient energy transfer. The fully independent suspension system with A-arm configuration and ball-joint design represents the gold standard in off-road RC vehicle design, offering the same level of tunability and adjustability as genuine full-size racing buggies. The long-travel, fluid-filled aluminium coil-over shocks with machined cylinders and precision-engineered drill-blank shafts deliver consistent, silky-smooth damping across varying terrain and driving intensities, crucial for maintaining traction and predictable handling characteristics. The low-profile sealed six-gear transmission houses the VariLok adjustable differential, which allows optimisation of differential locking for different driving conditions whilst maintaining mechanical simplicity and reliability. The integrated motor mount and heatsink design ensures efficient motor cooling and protection whilst maximising chassis ground clearance. The kit is engineered to accommodate both traditional 6-cell NiMH battery packs and modern 2S LiPo systems, providing flexibility for builders depending on whether they prioritise cost-effective operation or performance. The 1:10 scale buggy design delivers a 381mm length, 226.8mm width, and 267.7mm wheelbase, creating a vehicle that is substantial enough to traverse serious terrain yet compact enough for varied driving environments. Every component—from the fibreglass shock towers to the precision-moulded nylon suspension arms and oilite bushings—has been selected to balance durability, performance, and ease of assembly and maintenance. The front skid plate provides essential protection for the aluminium chassis and gearbox assembly, extending the kit's lifespan and reducing damage from routine rock strikes and obstacle impacts. This is engineering built on four decades of competitive racing experience, distilled into a kit that combines professional-grade component quality with practical accessibility for enthusiast builders.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Associated RC10CC Classic Clear Edition suitable for beginners to RC cars? — The RC10CC is a kit-build vehicle requiring assembly, making it best suited to builders with some RC experience or willingness to follow detailed instructions. However, the engineering is not excessively complex, and the instruction manual provides comprehensive guidance. If you're new to RC, you may want to start with a ready-to-run model before progressing to a kit build. The RC10CC is genuinely rewarding for those willing to invest time in assembly, but it's not a plug-and-play beginner's vehicle.
- What battery does the RC10CC Classic Clear Edition require? — The kit is designed to fit either 6-cell NiMH battery packs or modern 2S LiPo batteries. The choice depends on your preferences: NiMH batteries are more affordable and forgiving for beginners, whilst 2S LiPo packs provide higher voltage, better performance, and quicker charging. You'll need to purchase the battery, charger, and associated power management components separately as these are not included in the kit.
- Can the RC10CC actually be driven, or is it only for display? — Whilst the clear polycarbonate components are stronger than traditional SLA resin and theoretically could handle driving, the RC10CC is specifically manufactured as a display piece for your collection. The clear polycarbonate body panels are selected for visual appeal rather than track-proven durability. If you want a genuine driveable RC10, Team Associated offers the standard RC10 Classic with traditional opaque body panels, which is engineered for competitive use.
- What is unique about the clear polycarbonate components? — The transparent construction allows you to visually appreciate the intricate engineering, suspension geometry, and mechanical systems inside the vehicle—something impossible with traditional opaque RC car bodies. These clear components are exclusive to this kit edition and are not available for purchase separately, making the RC10CC genuinely unique and collectible. The polycarbonate material is durable and scratch-resistant, though it's best suited for display rather than high-impact driving.
- How does the RC10CC compare to other RC buggies available in the UK market? — The RC10CC is fundamentally different from modern RC buggy designs. Rather than representing the latest technology, it's a faithful recreation of the 1984 design that invented modern RC off-road racing. This means it prioritises engineering fundamentals, mechanical adjustability, and iconic aesthetic over cutting-edge features. Many modern RC buggies offer faster speeds and more advanced electronics, but few offer the historical significance, mechanical sophistication, and visual distinctiveness of the RC10CC. It's an ideal choice if you value heritage, engineering principles, and collectibility alongside practical performance.
- Is the RC10CC available in the UK, and does it come with UK support? — Yes, the RC10CC Classic Clear Edition is available through authorised UK RC retailers including RC Model Shop. Team Associated provides comprehensive documentation, parts support, and technical resources for all their vehicles. The clear polycarbonate components are exclusive to this kit, so if you need replacement parts, you should source them from authorised dealers to ensure authenticity and compatibility.
- What suspension adjustments can be made on the RC10CC? — The fully adjustable independent suspension system allows precise tuning of static camber, camber rise, caster angle, ride height, and spring rate. This level of adjustability matches professional racing buggies and allows you to dial in the setup for your specific track conditions, driving style, and performance preferences. This is genuinely professional-grade tunability rarely found in electric RC buggies.
- What tools and skills are needed to assemble this kit? — Standard RC model building tools are required: screwdrivers, hex drivers, pliers, and a basic understanding of RC assembly procedures. The instruction manual provides detailed guidance through each step. Whilst assembly is straightforward for experienced RC builders, first-time kit builders should allow several hours for careful, methodical construction. The reward is a deeper understanding of the vehicle's mechanics and the satisfaction of having built your own legendary machine.
