This is a kit designed for builders who want complete control over their RC car build, requiring full assembly by the user. Whether you're searching for the best RC trail truck UK has to offer, or you're looking for a serious off-road rock crawler that combines authentic styling with cutting-edge engineering, the Cattleman delivers on every front. Inspired by the legendary Team Associated RC10 released in 1984, this modern tribute captures the classic aesthetic whilst incorporating revolutionary technology that makes it genuinely capable on the trail.
At the heart of the Cattleman is the revolutionary Stealth® X gearbox, a transmission that looks conventional from the outside but houses far more sophisticated engineering within. This is not your average RC trail truck – it's a purpose-built machine for serious enthusiasts who demand adjustable performance and real-world trail capability. The Cattleman is ready to tackle the elements right out of the box; you just need to build it and go, with your journey beginning the moment you start assembly. For anyone looking to purchase a high-quality RC off-road vehicle UK buyers can trust from an established manufacturer, the RC10 Trail Truck Cattleman Kit represents excellent value and engineering excellence.
Perfect for both experienced builders and those new to kit assembly, the Cattleman strikes an impressive balance between authentic scale styling and genuine off-road capability. The combination of officially licensed General Grabber X3 tyres and Method 701 Trail Series beadlock wheels ensures that this rig looks every bit as serious as it performs on rocky terrain, forest trails, and challenging landscapes. With adjustable front track bar, BTA steering for superior approach angles, and a chassis-mounted servo winch mount for integrated recovery capability, the RC10 Trail Truck Cattleman is built for adventure.
Key Features
- Stealth® X Gearbox with Adjustable Overdrive — The heart of the Cattleman is this revolutionary transmission that allows you to independently adjust the front and rear drive ratios across three distinct settings: stock configuration overdrives the front end 5.7%, option 1 provides a one-to-one drive ratio front-to-rear (available separately), and option 2 overdrives the front end 11.83%. This flexibility means you can tailor the driving characteristics to match different terrain types and your personal preferences, giving you genuine control over trail performance.
- BTA Steering with Aluminium Steering Plates — Behind-the-axle steering geometry provides significantly better approach angles, improved ground clearance, and a cleaner aesthetic than traditional steering designs. The bolt-on aluminium steering plates offer greater adjustability, enhanced strength for demanding terrain, and the flexibility to make future modifications as your needs evolve, making this a platform that grows with your skills.
- Integrated Servo Winch Mount — Positioning a winch recovery system directly to the chassis is the strongest and most reliable approach on any trail rig. The Cattleman's integrated mount is strategically positioned alongside the steering servo to ensure optimal chassis balance and weight distribution, meaning you get real recovery capability without compromising handling characteristics.
- Threaded Gold Anodised Aluminium Shock Bodies — The Cattleman features fluid-filled shock absorbers with threaded aluminium bodies finished in attractive gold anodising. These premium shocks deliver exceptional stability on the trail and maintain consistent damping performance even when tackling the roughest terrain, with the sealed design retaining oil through the most demanding conditions.
- 3-Piece Telescopic Driveshafts — Power is transmitted through sophisticated 3-piece telescopic driveshafts featuring extruded aluminium centre sections. This design combines strength with smooth articulation, allowing the chassis to flex and move across uneven terrain whilst maintaining consistent power delivery to all four wheels through universal front drive axles and hardened steel ring and pinion gears.
- Chassis-Mounted Servo (CMS) — By mounting the servo directly to the chassis rather than the body, you achieve a lower centre of gravity and more responsive steering feel. The CMS design also simplifies body removal and installation for maintenance and customisation, making this a more practical platform for regular use and upgrades.
- Adjustable Front Track Bar — Fine-tuning the front track bar geometry allows you to optimise handling balance and steering response to match your driving style and terrain conditions, giving you the precision adjustability that serious trail enthusiasts demand.
- Universal Front Drive Axles — The universal joint design at the front axles allows greater articulation than traditional solid axle setups, meaning the wheels can move independently through larger ranges of motion whilst still maintaining power delivery, essential for true rock crawling capability.
- Gold Stamped Steel Frame Rails — The main chassis frame is constructed from gold-coloured stamped steel, providing an excellent balance of rigidity and weight. The distinctive gold finish adds to the authentic scale appearance whilst delivering the strength needed for serious trail abuse.
- Enclosed Receiver Box — Your radio receiver is fully protected in an enclosed box, shielding it from dirt, mud, water splash and other environmental hazards that come with serious off-road use. This protection ensures consistent radio signal and long-term reliability.
- 12mm Wheel Hexes — The standard 12mm hex design allows you to easily swap wheels and tyres for different terrain conditions or aesthetic preferences, with a wide range of aftermarket options available to customise your rig's appearance and performance.
- Adjustable Front and Rear Bumper Mounts — Both the front and rear bumpers feature adjustable mounting points, allowing you to fine-tune approach and departure angles for your specific driving style and terrain. This adjustability optimises ground clearance and prevents unwanted contact during aggressive trail work.
- Adjustable Width Rock Sliders — Side protection is provided through rock sliders that can be adjusted in width to suit your preferred setup and terrain conditions. These protect the lower chassis from rocky terrain whilst maintaining the slim profile needed for tight trail sections.
- Dual Battery Boxes — The Cattleman provides two separate battery boxes, offering flexibility in battery configuration and weight distribution options to fine-tune handling balance and runtime characteristics.
- Gold Anodised Aluminium Motor Plate — The motor mounting plate receives the same premium gold anodised finish found throughout the chassis, contributing to both durability and the authentic scale appearance that makes the Cattleman stand apart from basic RC trail trucks.
- Adjustable Body Posts — Body posts can be adjusted in height to alter ride height and ground clearance, with lower posts giving a more scale appearance and higher posts improving rock-crawling clearance as needed for specific terrain challenges.
- Optimised Ball Cups — The axle articulation points feature optimised ball cups that deliver smooth, fluid movement across uneven terrain. This precise engineering means the wheels track smoothly over obstacles rather than binding or catching, essential for consistent trail performance.
- Adjustable Rear Shock Tower Mount Positions — Multiple mounting positions for the rear shock tower allow you to adjust anti-squat characteristics and suspension geometry to match different driving conditions, giving experienced builders real performance tuning capability.
- One-Piece Rear Axle Design — The single-unit rear axle construction is stronger and more reliable than modular designs, delivering the dependability you need when building your RC trail truck investment.
- Splined Front Axle with Adjustable Caster — The front axle features splined connection points and adjustable caster geometry, allowing you to optimise steering feel and straight-line stability to match your terrain and driving style.
- Metal Gears Throughout Axles — Durability is ensured through metal gearing in all axle assemblies rather than plastic alternatives. These hardened steel components deliver the strength needed to handle real trail abuse without breaking down.
- Machined Steel Top Shaft — The main transmission top shaft is machined from hardened steel rather than stamped, providing superior precision and durability that extends the life of your gearbox assembly through countless trail sessions.
- Heavy-Duty 5mm Diameter Steel Links — The suspension links connecting various chassis components are substantial 5mm diameter steel items. This heavy-duty construction ensures the suspension maintains its integrity through demanding rock crawling without bending or flexing.
- Metal Ball Bearings — All rotating assemblies are fitted with quality metal ball bearings rather than bushings, delivering smooth operation, reduced friction, and longer service life compared to alternative bearing types.
- Factory Team Steel Diff Covers — The included Factory Team AS42390 steel differential covers (front and rear, 43g each) provide protection for your diffs whilst keeping weight distributed across the chassis for optimal balance and handling characteristics.
- Single-Piece RC10 Cattleman Clear Polycarbonate Body — The body is a single-piece thermoformed design in high-strength clear polycarbonate, allowing you to paint it your preferred colour – the traditional Camel Yellow or anything else you choose. The clear design showcases your chassis and internal components to impressive effect.
- Injection-Moulded Mirrors and Roof Rack — Scale authenticity is delivered through detailed injection-moulded side mirrors and a functional roof rack, capturing the classic appearance of the original RC10 whilst adding genuine trail utility for mounting accessories.
- Adjustable Injection-Moulded Bumpers — Both front and rear bumpers are injection-moulded for detail and strength, with adjustable mounting allowing you to optimise protection and approach angles according to your trail conditions and preferences.
- Full-Colour RC10 Decal Sheet — An authentic full-colour decal sheet is included, allowing you to apply classic RC10-inspired livery to your completed build. The decals authentically reproduce the legendary styling that made the original RC10 an icon in the RC hobby.
- Black Wheels with Gold Anodised Accents — The classic colour scheme combines black Method 701 wheels with gold anodised chassis components, creating the distinctive aesthetic that defines the Cattleman's appearance and immediately identifies it as a premium trail rig.
- Licensed General Grabber X3 Tyres — The included 1.9"×4.65" General Grabber X3 tyres are officially licensed and moulded in high-performance soft compound rubber, delivering genuine grip on trail terrain whilst maintaining the authentic appearance that serious enthusiasts demand. These are not budget alternatives but genuine branded tyres.
- Licensed Method 701 Trail Series Beadlock Wheels — Your Cattleman rolls on officially licensed Method 701 Trail Series beadlock wheels in 1.9" size. The beadlock design ensures the tyre bead is secured to the wheel rim even during aggressive articulation, preventing tyre roll-off during challenging rock crawling sessions. These are genuine Method wheels, not cheap imitations.
Technical Performance
The RC10 Trail Truck Cattleman represents a pinnacle of engineering for 1:10-scale electric trail rigs. Power delivery is handled through the Enduro drivetrain, featuring the revolutionary Stealth® X gearbox paired with 3-piece telescopic driveshafts incorporating extruded aluminium centre sections for strength and precision. Universal front drive axles and hardened steel ring and pinion gears throughout the system ensure power is transmitted smoothly and reliably to all four wheels regardless of terrain conditions. The 4WD drivetrain means all four wheels contribute equally to traction and climbing capability, essential for serious rock crawling. The chassis is constructed from gold-coloured stamped steel frame rails that provide excellent rigidity whilst keeping weight at an acceptable level, with the wheelbase measuring 313mm (12.32 inches) providing excellent stability and articulation. The overall dimensions of 462mm length and 260mm width create a scale-appropriate footprint, with the rig scaling realistically against rocks and natural terrain features. Suspension geometry is optimised for trail performance with adjustable rear shock tower mount positions allowing tuning of anti-squat characteristics, whilst the threaded gold anodised aluminium shock bodies deliver consistent damping performance. The inclusion of metal ball bearings throughout ensures smooth articulation and minimal friction, critical for responsive handling on technical terrain.
