Technical Performance
The Reflex 14B Gamma is engineered throughout with performance-minded construction and materials. The powerful Reedy 4500KV brushless motor pairs with a water-resistant high-power brushless ESC featuring T-plug connectors, providing reliable power delivery and impressive efficiency gains compared to brushed alternatives. This brushless RC buggy achieves genuinely competitive speeds whilst maintaining responsive throttle control—real-world testing suggests top speeds in the region of 25-30 mph depending on battery specification and terrain conditions. The compact 1:14 scale dimensions (304mm length, 202mm width) make this ready to run RC car remarkably manoeuvrable in confined spaces, yet the sophisticated suspension geometry delivers handling confidence befitting vehicles significantly larger. The 2.46:1 internal gear ratio provides an intelligent balance—aggressive acceleration response without sacrificing top-end capability. Build quality throughout emphasises durability and adjustability; the three sealed differentials minimise mud intrusion whilst the threaded coil-over shock absorbers allow comprehensive tuning. Aluminium is specified for the steering rack, centre driveshaft and critical suspension components, reducing unsprung mass whilst maintaining rigidity. The moulded tub chassis provides inherent strength, and the covered centre driveshaft arrangement prevents debris accumulation during muddy sessions. The high-torque digital servo ensures responsive steering precision with adequate holding strength, crucial for maintaining control through technical terrain. Battery compatibility centres on 2S LiPo technology with T-plug connectors, requiring packs measuring no larger than 100x30x20mm, a standard specification across the entry-level RTR market. The radio system operates on 2.4GHz frequency with two control channels, providing reliable, interference-free operation typical of modern ready to run RC cars in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Associated Reflex 14B Gamma suitable for RC beginners? — Yes, the Reflex 14B Gamma RTR is an excellent choice for newcomers to the hobby. It arrives fully assembled and ready to run immediately upon receipt of a compatible 2S LiPo battery and charger. The intuitive 2-channel radio system is straightforward to operate, whilst the robust four-wheel drive design provides forgiving handling characteristics that inspire confidence. The compact 1:14 scale size makes it manageable for new drivers, yet the sophisticated suspension adjustments allow progression as your skills develop. This ready to run RC buggy strikes the perfect balance between ease of use and genuine performance credentials, making it ideal for introducing yourself to off-road RC cars without the intimidation of larger vehicles.
- What battery does the Associated Reflex 14B Gamma need? — This ready to run RC buggy requires a 2S LiPo battery with T-plug connector that must fit within a 100x30x20mm space in the chassis cavity. Two-cell LiPo chemistry is standard for entry-level brushless RC buggies, delivering 7.4 volts nominal output perfectly matched to the Reedy motor and ESC specifications. Most quality LiPo battery manufacturers offer 2S packs in the 1600-2200mAh capacity range suitable for this application, providing 15-20 minute run times depending on driving intensity and terrain. A compatible LiPo charger is essential—standard balance chargers rated for 2S lithium cells are widely available in the UK RC market.
- What are the dimensions and weight specifications? — The Reflex 14B Gamma measures 304mm in length and 202mm in width, making it a genuinely compact 1:14 scale off-road RC buggy ideal for confined spaces and easy transportation. The stated weight varies depending on battery installation and optional upgrades, but the lightweight design with aluminium components ensures responsive handling. These proportions place it comfortably between toy-grade RC cars and larger hobby-class vehicles, offering genuine sophistication in a manageable package.
- What is the top speed of this RC buggy? — Real-world testing indicates the Reflex 14B Gamma achieves top speeds in the region of 25-30 mph, with variation depending on battery discharge state, motor temperature, terrain type and driving technique. The 4500KV motor specification provides responsive acceleration throughout the throttle range rather than extreme top speed, prioritising handling and battery longevity over out-and-out velocity. This speed profile makes it engaging to drive without becoming uncontrollable in confined spaces.
- How do I adjust the suspension and handling? — The Reflex 14B Gamma offers comprehensive tunability through adjustable turnbuckles controlling ride height and geometry, plus caster block inserts and rear hub inserts that modify steering response and roll characteristics. The threaded coil-over shock absorbers allow damping adjustments and ride height modification. These adjustments enable you to fine-tune the RC buggy for different terrain types—stiffer settings for smooth surfaces, softer settings for rocky ground. Team Associated's technical support pages provide detailed tuning guides for maximising performance in your specific conditions.
- Is the water resistance adequate for muddy terrain? — The Reedy brushless ESC is specified as water-resistant, providing protection against moisture and dust typical of muddy off-road sessions. However, water-resistant does not mean fully waterproof—avoid submersion and allow adequate drying time after wet weather use. The sealed differentials prevent mud intrusion into the drivetrain, and the covered centre driveshaft guards against debris accumulation. With reasonable care and post-session cleaning, the Reflex 14B Gamma handles damp British terrain without concern.
- What makes this better than other 1:14 scale ready to run RC buggies? — The Reflex 14B Gamma combines genuine engineering quality with comprehensive adjustability at an accessible price point. The three sealed differentials, aluminium construction, water-resistant electronics and professional-grade digital servo distinguish it from budget alternatives that compromise on build quality. The Gamma-style moulded body reflects genuine racing heritage, and Team Associated's reputation for engineering excellence ensures component durability and parts availability across the UK hobby market. Unlike stripped-down alternatives, this ready to run RC buggy doesn't sacrifice sophistication for affordability.
