Overview
The Futaba DLPH-3 10-Channel Dual Rx Link Intelligent Power Hub is a compact, high-current switching unit specifically engineered for large RC aircraft applications. Whether you're an experienced RC pilot in the UK looking to enhance your aircraft's reliability or a serious hobbyist seeking professional-grade power management, this intelligent hub represents a significant step forward in dual-receiver redundancy technology. Futaba has designed this unit to seamlessly manage power distribution, telemetry monitoring and servo control whilst maintaining rock-solid transmission links that RC enthusiasts have come to expect from the brand.
If the main receiver loses signal during flight, the DLPH-3 will instantaneously switch to your backup receiver without any interruption to aircraft control—a critical safety feature for expensive RC aircraft models. This all-in-one solution consolidates what would traditionally require multiple separate components into one lightweight, space-efficient package that's easy to install in confined aircraft fuselages. With the ability to power up to 10 high-performance servos from a single unit whilst handling peak current draws of 60 amps, the DLPH-3 is built for serious RC pilots who demand reliability and performance from their equipment.
The hub's compact dimensions (66.0 x 43.6 x 19.3mm) and light weight of just 34.6 grams make it ideal for RC aircraft where every gram counts towards flight performance. Futaba's DLPH-3 is the choice for UK RC enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on safety, reliability or performance.
Key Features
- Dual Receiver Redundancy — This is the hub's signature feature, allowing you to connect two Futaba S.Bus or S.Bus2 receivers simultaneously. If your main receiver loses signal contact with your transmitter, the system seamlessly switches to the backup receiver without any control lag or interruption, preventing potential loss of your aircraft and ensuring safe recovery in challenging signal conditions.
- 10 PWM Servo Connections — The DLPH-3 can manage up to 10 high-voltage, high-performance servos simultaneously, giving you complete control over complex aircraft with multiple control surfaces, flaps, landing gear and auxiliary functions without requiring multiple power distribution boards.
- 60A Peak Instantaneous Current Output FET — With an output FET rated for 60 amps of peak instantaneous current draw, this hub can supply sufficient power to even the most demanding servo configurations used in large scale RC aircraft, eliminating the need for external power amplifiers or additional servo rails.
- S.Bus and S.Bus2 Protocol Support — Full compatibility with both S.Bus and S.Bus2 digital protocols means you can use the latest Futaba receiver technology whilst maintaining backward compatibility with existing equipment, providing flexibility as you upgrade your RC aircraft systems over time.
- 6-Axis Gyro Integration via S.Bus2 — The hub includes an optional connection point for Futaba's GYA553 and GYA573 6-axis gyros via S.Bus2, allowing you to add advanced stabilisation and flight assistance without cluttering your aircraft with additional control modules or wiring.
- Intelligent Battery Management and Telemetry — The DLPH-3 continuously monitors your flight battery voltage through its integrated telemetry sensor function, providing real-time monitoring of battery health throughout your flight session. This information is relayed back to your transmitter so you always know your remaining flight time.
- Low Battery Start-up Protection — If the system detects that your battery charge level is below approximately 30-40% at start-up, it will automatically prevent power transfer to the receivers, protecting against in-flight power loss caused by inadequate battery voltage and helping you avoid dangerous situations caused by under-voltage conditions.
- Industry-Recognised XT60 Battery Connector — The use of the industry-standard XT60 connector ensures broad compatibility with most modern LiPo and LiFe flight batteries available in the UK RC market, and allows easy battery swapping without requiring proprietary adapters.
- Compact and Lightweight Design — Weighing just 34.6 grams with space-efficient dimensions, the DLPH-3 is designed to fit into tight fuselage spaces without adding unnecessary weight that would compromise your aircraft's flight characteristics and performance envelope.
- 2S LiFe and 2S/3S LiPo Battery Compatibility — The hub works seamlessly with common RC flight battery chemistries including 2S LiFe packs and both 2S and 3S LiPo packs, covering the voltage requirements of most large scale RC aircraft and giving you flexibility in power system design.
Technical Performance
The Futaba DLPH-3 represents a pinnacle of engineering for RC aircraft power management, combining sophisticated digital switching technology with robust analogue power distribution. The unit's output FET is engineered to handle the demanding peak current surges required when multiple high-torque servos operate simultaneously—a real-world scenario in complex aircraft with multiple control surfaces. The intelligent power hub continuously regulates and stabilises voltage delivery to your dual receivers, ensuring they maintain their characteristic rock-solid Futaba transmission link even under high electrical loads. The telemetry monitoring system constantly samples battery voltage and reports this data back through your radio system, eliminating guesswork about remaining flight time and allowing you to land with confidence before voltage sag affects aircraft control. The dual receiver switching circuit operates at speeds imperceptible to your servo systems, meaning the transition from primary to backup receiver is completely seamless and doesn't introduce any control glitches or momentary control loss. The hub's compact form factor achieved through dense circuit integration and careful component placement makes installation straightforward in aircraft with limited internal space, whilst the included mounting hardware—eyelets, screws and grommets—accommodates various fuselage mounting configurations. The unit's black finish helps it blend into aircraft interiors whilst the robust construction ensures it will survive the vibration and shock loads common in RC flight operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Futaba DLPH-3 suitable for beginners learning to fly large RC aircraft? — Whilst the DLPH-3 is specifically designed for large RC aircraft that justify dual-receiver redundancy systems, it's not typically required for beginner-level aircraft. However, as you progress to more expensive or complex aircraft models, the safety benefits of dual receiver redundancy become increasingly valuable. If you're flying a large scale aircraft worth several hundred pounds, the modest investment in a DLPH-3 is excellent insurance against signal loss causing catastrophic crashes.
- What type of batteries does the DLPH-3 require? — The hub is compatible with 2S LiFe (lithium iron phosphate) packs and both 2S and 3S LiPo (lithium polymer) flight batteries, which are the standard power sources for large RC aircraft in the UK. The system includes a telemetry sensor that monitors battery voltage, and the low battery protection feature prevents operation if battery charge drops below 30-40% at start-up.
- How many servos can I connect to the DLPH-3? — The hub features 10 PWM outputs allowing you to connect up to 10 high-voltage, high-performance servos simultaneously. This is sufficient for complex aircraft with multiple control surfaces including ailerons, flaps, elevators, rudders, landing gear and auxiliary functions.
- Can I use this hub with non-Futaba receivers? — The DLPH-3 is specifically designed for Futaba S.Bus and S.Bus2 receivers. It will not function with receivers from other manufacturers. If you're building a Futaba-based RC system, this is the ideal choice for dual receiver redundancy.
- What is the difference between S.Bus and S.Bus2 compatibility? — Both protocols are supported by the DLPH-3, though S.Bus2 offers additional capabilities including integration with Futaba's advanced gyro systems like the GYA553 and GYA573 6-axis gyros, which can be connected via the dedicated S.Bus2 port.
- How much weight does the DLPH-3 add to my aircraft? — At just 34.6 grams, the DLPH-3 is extremely lightweight for its functionality. This minimal weight addition is negligible compared to the safety benefits provided by dual receiver redundancy, especially on expensive or advanced aircraft.
- Does the DLPH-3 provide any protection against power surges or electrical faults? — The unit includes intelligent battery monitoring and low-voltage protection at start-up. The FET switching system is engineered to handle peak current draws of up to 60 amps, protecting against damage from high instantaneous current demands from multiple servos operating simultaneously.
- What dimensions does the DLPH-3 have and will it fit in my aircraft fuselage? — The compact dimensions are 66.0mm length x 43.6mm width x 19.3mm height, making it small enough to fit into most large RC aircraft fuselages. The included mounting hardware with rubber grommets allows secure installation whilst isolating vibration.
