Designed specifically for use with the #10790 Mini Maxx WideMaxx suspension kit, these steel constant-velocity driveshafts offer the ultimate in torque handling and efficient power transfer for demanding brushless RC applications. Whether you're a serious RC enthusiast looking to upgrade your Mini Maxx or Mini XRT, or a competitive racer seeking maximum reliability under extreme conditions, these driveshafts deliver the performance and durability that discerning RC car owners demand.
RC enthusiasts across the UK have come to trust Traxxas components for their uncompromising quality and engineering excellence. The WideMaxx driveshaft system is engineered to handle the incredible power outputs of modern brushless motor setups, making it an essential upgrade for anyone running high-powered RC vehicles. These aren't budget driveshafts—they're professional-grade components built to withstand serious bashing, racing, and extreme driving conditions that would destroy lesser quality parts.
What sets these driveshafts apart from standard offerings is the combination of heavy-duty steel construction, advanced constant-velocity joint technology, and innovative snap-ring retention systems. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK seeking to maximise the performance and longevity of their Mini Maxx or Mini XRT platforms, this upgrade is a game-changer that delivers noticeable improvements in power delivery, durability, and overall handling characteristics.
Key Features
- Steel Constant-Velocity Driveshafts — The complete set includes front and rear driveshafts featuring steel constant-velocity (CV) joints, which maintain smooth, efficient power transfer even during aggressive cornering and suspension articulation, ensuring that all the power from your brushless motor reaches the wheels without loss or jerking.
- Heavy-Duty Steel Drive Cups — Four steel drive cups are included in this set, providing maximum strength and durability compared to plastic alternatives, capable of handling the extreme torque loads generated by modern brushless motors without stripping or failing.
- Snap-Ring Retention System — On the axle side, snap rings securely hold the drive pins in place, preventing back-out during aggressive acceleration and high-speed cornering, which means you can drive with complete confidence that your driveline won't fail mid-race.
- Press-Fit Large-Bore Drive Pins — Large-bore drive pins are press-fit on the differential side and slot into the heavy-duty steel drive cups, creating an incredibly robust connection that distributes stress evenly and prevents the common failure points found in weaker driveline designs.
- Complete Front and Rear Set — This package includes everything you need for both front and rear drivelines, with four assembled driveshafts, four drive cups, and four screw pins, providing a complete driveline solution without the need for separate purchases.
- Designed for High-Power Brushless Applications — These driveshafts are specifically engineered to handle the extreme power outputs of brushless motor systems, making them essential for anyone running serious brushless RC setups in the UK or anywhere else.
- Compatible with Multiple Models — Engineered to work seamlessly with the Mini Maxx BL-2S and Mini XRT VXL-3S platforms, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal performance with these popular Traxxas RC vehicles.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas WideMaxx Steel CV Driveshafts represent a significant engineering achievement in RC driveline technology. Built from premium steel rather than plastic or aluminium, these components offer unmatched strength and longevity when subjected to the extreme stresses of modern brushless RC driving. The constant-velocity joint design is critical for performance—it maintains torque delivery at all suspension angles, meaning power flows smoothly to the wheels regardless of how the suspension is articulated. This is particularly important for competitive RC racing or aggressive bashing where suspension movement is constant and dramatic. The four included drive cups, constructed from the same robust steel, work in conjunction with the large-bore drive pins to create a connection that can withstand repeated high-torque loads without flex or failure. The snap-ring retention system on the axle side is a thoughtful engineering detail that prevents the drive pins from backing out during extended driving sessions, a problem that can occur with inferior designs. For UK RC car owners running brushless systems—whether 2S, 3S, or higher voltage setups—these driveshafts represent the professional-grade solution that ensures maximum reliability and consistent performance across multiple driving sessions and racing events.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these driveshafts suitable for my Traxxas RC car? — These WideMaxx steel CV driveshafts are specifically engineered for the Mini Maxx BL-2S and Mini XRT VXL-3S platforms. Check your model number against the compatibility list provided—if your vehicle is listed, these are the perfect upgrade for your RC car.
- What makes steel driveshafts better than plastic ones? — Steel driveshafts offer dramatically superior strength and durability compared to plastic alternatives. They resist stripping, maintain their shape under extreme torque loads, and last significantly longer even when subjected to aggressive driving, high-speed runs, and competitive racing conditions. For serious RC enthusiasts in the UK, the durability advantage justifies the investment.
- Will these driveshafts improve my RC car's performance? — Yes, in several important ways. The constant-velocity joint design ensures smooth, consistent power delivery without the loss or jerking that can occur with inferior designs. The robust construction means all the power from your brushless motor reaches the wheels without flex or flex-induced losses, translating to better acceleration, more reliable cornering, and improved overall driving experience.
- What is the snap-ring retention system and why does it matter? — The snap rings secure the drive pins in place on the axle side, preventing them from backing out during aggressive driving. This is a critical safety feature that prevents mid-drive failures and keeps your RC vehicle running reliably throughout extended driving sessions and racing events.
- Can I use these with my brushless motor setup? — Absolutely. These driveshafts are specifically designed for high-power brushless applications and will handle the extreme torque outputs that brushless motors generate. Whether you're running a 2S, 3S, or higher voltage brushless system, these driveshafts will provide the strength and reliability you need.
- How do I install these driveshafts? — Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC maintenance experience. The driveshafts slot into the drive cups, with the large-bore drive pins providing the connection point. Full installation instructions are typically included with the product. If you're unfamiliar with RC maintenance, our team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance or perform the installation for you.
- What makes these different from standard Traxxas driveshafts? — The WideMaxx system specifically uses premium steel construction throughout, including the drive cups and pins, creating a much more robust driveline than standard plastic offerings. The engineering is specifically optimised for high-power brushless applications, making them the professional-grade choice for serious RC enthusiasts.
