E-flite Micro Scrappy RC Plane Introduction
Mike Patey’s infectious enthusiasm and undeniable passion for aviation have inspired thousands to pursue their dreams of flight with RC (Radio Controlled) and full-scale aircraft! His exceptional drive and signature "Back to Work" tagline led him to design and build some of the most unique and incredible aircraft. Starting with the frame from a crashed Carbon Cub, one of Mike’s latest projects was "Scrappy" – a unique bush plane featuring his transforming airfoil, wings with solar panels on top, two electric motorcycle mounts underneath, and dynamic controllable suspension. E-flite® has created the Micro Scrappy 800mm as an officially licensed replica of the sophisticated STOL aircraft, designing it to be affordable and convenient so intermediate to experienced pilots can enjoy flying almost anywhere-from parks and sports fields to RC flying fields and beyond!
E-flite Micro Scrappy RC Plane Overview
Inspired by the incredible ingenuity and effort Mike Patey puts into building his full-sized aircraft, E-flite offers the only officially licensed scale replicas of his DRACO and Scrappy designs. The E-flite Micro Scrappy 800mm is slightly larger than UMX (Ultra Micro eXtreme) and other ultra-micro class models to better replicate the full-scale aircraft’s complex design while including as many scale details as possible. It’s still small and light enough to fly in large yards, small parks, sports fields, and beyond – yet it also features incredible surface details, including moulded-in rivets and panel lines, antennas, struts, and more. Functional features include LED navigation, landing and simulated strobe lights, flaps, and a steerable tailwheel. Oversized, tundra-style tires on the wire main gear with simulated shocks soak up bumps and provide excellent prop clearance while making it possible to take off from and land on paved, dirt, gravel, and even the grass surfaces found at many parks and sports fields.
The high-power brushless outrunner motor can drive the uniquely shaped 4-blade propeller with a 3S 300mAh battery for smooth and scale-like flight and even to perform basic aerobatics. Or you can use a 4S 300mAh battery without any modifications or upgrades for better-than-scale vertical performance and more aggressive aerobatic flying! The factory-installed Spektrum receiver and ESC deliver real-time telemetry data, including overall battery voltage, current, motor RPM, and more, to compatible AirWare-equipped transmitters. The receiver is also equipped with expertly tuned AS3X® technology, giving you the smooth, locked-in feel of a larger model-even in some wind-plus optional-use SAFE® Select, making confident flying easier once you’ve mastered a plane or two. Best of all, Micro Scrappy arrives factory-finished with a premium, fully-painted plus decal trim scheme and mostly factory-assembled with a separate one-piece wing that can be installed or removed quickly and easily with a single screw. It all comes together to deliver an authentic – yet affordable and convenient – Scrappy flying experience, including excellent STOL (Short Take Off and Landing), scale, and beyond flight performance!
Micro Scrappy is a Bind-N-Fly (BNF) Basic aircraft that includes a Spektrum receiver equipped with industry-leading DSMX/DSM2 technology so intermediate to experienced RC pilots can use their own compatible transmitter, battery, and charger. An ULTIMATE Combo including the BNF Basic airplane, a Spektrum transmitter, Smart charger, adapter, and battery – plus a copy of the RealFlight Trainer Edition RC Flight Simulator – is also available that includes everything needed to fly and saves you money compared to purchasing all of the items separately!
Are you new to flying RC (Radio Controlled) aircraft? If you are, we recommend learning to fly with one of our purpose-built trainer aircraft, such as the HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m (www.horizonhobby.cc/CarbonCubS2RTF). Based on the Carbon Cub that inspired Scrappy, it’s equipped with exclusive and innovative SAFE technology that makes it possible for almost anyone to learn to fly successfully! The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes nearly everything needed to fly (except for a compatible LiPo battery and charger that are sold separately or together in a money-saving Powerstage bundle) and is a perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot.

Bind-N-Fly Completion Level AdvantageAlready own a SpektrumT transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly and fly!
This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring AS3X® (Artificial Stabilization-3-aXis) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence so you enjoy a sense of stability and precision that makes it feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.
If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required.
With SAFE Select enabled, you get:
Pitch and Bank Angle Limits
- These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.
Automatic Self-Leveling
- The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the centre position. It's also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings.
Easy Switch Assignment-No Complex Programming Required
- The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds. For UMX models like this one, SAFE Select is automatically assigned to channel 5 (Gear) so you can turn it on and off with any switch assigned to that channel (switch A by default on most Spektrum computer transmitters).
