Overview

The Radient JR Twisted HD Extension Lead with Clip 400mm (RDNAC010223) is an essential component for any RC enthusiast in the UK working with JR connectors. Whether you're building a new RC car, upgrading your existing setup, or maintaining your fleet of remote control vehicles, this heavy-duty extension lead provides the reliable connection you need between your receiver and servos. The twisted, fine-strand wiring design ensures maximum durability whilst maintaining a clean, professional appearance in your RC model's receiver compartment.

This extension lead is specifically engineered for serious RC hobbyists who demand quality components that won't let them down during crucial moments—whether you're racing a brushless RC buggy, piloting a high-performance RC monster truck, or fine-tuning a competition-grade RC vehicle. The heavy-duty construction and secure connector clip mean you can trust this lead to maintain a solid connection even during aggressive driving sessions or challenging terrain. At just 400mm in length, it strikes the perfect balance between providing useful extension reach without introducing unnecessary cable bulk into your receiver box.

With clear JR colour coding in brown, red, and orange, identifying and connecting your servos becomes straightforward, reducing the risk of incorrect connections that could damage your electronics. The Radient brand is recognised throughout the UK RC community for producing reliable, high-quality spare parts and accessories that enhance your RC experience. Stock this extension lead in your spares box and ensure you're always prepared for servo connections, replacements, or upgrades to your RC car, truck, or crawler.

Key Features

  • 400mm Total Length — The 400mm measurement includes both connectors, providing a practical extension distance that works perfectly for most servo connection scenarios in standard receiver boxes without introducing excessive cable clutter or weight penalties.
  • Male to Female JR Connector Configuration — This extension lead features a male JR connector on one end and a female JR connector on the other, allowing you to extend servo leads or connect servos to your receiver with complete flexibility in your RC vehicle setup.
  • Heavy-Duty 60-Strand Construction — The 60-strand fine-strand wiring provides exceptional flexibility and durability, resisting the copper fatigue that can occur with lower-strand-count wires, making this lead suitable for even the most demanding RC applications including high-vibration environments.
  • 22AWG Wire Gauge — The 22 AWG wire specification ensures sufficient current-carrying capacity for servo applications whilst maintaining flexibility, providing the optimal balance between strength and ease of routing through tight receiver compartments.
  • Secure Connector Clip Included — The integrated connector clip keeps your extension lead securely fastened to your servo connector, preventing accidental disconnections during aggressive driving, high-speed runs, or crash impacts that commonly occur in RC racing and bashing activities.
  • JR Colour Coding (Brown/Red/Orange) — The standard JR colour scheme—brown for ground, red for power, and orange for signal—makes polarity identification instant and eliminates guesswork when connecting servos, particularly important for beginners and when working in workshops with multiple RC projects.
  • 1.5mm Outer Diameter — The slim 1.5mm outer diameter keeps cable bulk to a minimum, allowing easier routing through receiver boxes and around other components whilst maintaining mechanical strength and durability.

Technical Performance

The Radient JR Twisted HD Extension Lead represents engineering excellence in RC servo connectivity. The 22AWG wire gauge delivers adequate current capacity for standard servo applications whilst the 60-strand twisted construction provides superior flexibility compared to cheaper, lower-strand alternatives commonly found in budget extension leads. This twisted configuration also reduces electromagnetic interference, which can improve receiver performance and servo response accuracy—a significant advantage when precision matters in RC racing or competitive driving. The 1.5mm outer diameter casing strikes an ideal balance; it's substantial enough to protect the conductors from physical damage and shorts, yet slim enough to route easily through crowded receiver boxes. The included connector clip is not merely a convenience feature; it's a critical safety component that prevents servo disconnections during jumps, crashes, and high-vibration situations. The JR connector standard remains one of the most common in the RC hobby across the UK, making this extension lead compatible with the vast majority of RC receivers and servos currently in use. The 400mm length—measured including both connectors—provides versatile reach for typical receiver box layouts without excessive slack that could create routing problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a JR extension lead and why do I need one for my RC car? — A JR extension lead is a servo cable that connects your receiver to your servos, allowing you to position servos away from your receiver. You need extension leads because servo locations (steering servo, throttle servo, etc.) are often at a distance from where your receiver sits in the chassis. This lead extends that connection by 400mm, giving you flexibility in component layout and making receiver box organisation easier in your RC vehicle.
  • Is this extension lead compatible with my RC servo? — Yes, provided your servo features a standard JR connector (the three-pin rectangular connector commonly used across most brands). The male JR connector on this lead plugs into any female JR servo connector, whilst the female end connects to male JR connectors on your receiver. This makes it universally compatible with any JR-equipped servo used in RC cars, buggies, crawlers, and trucks throughout the UK hobby.
  • What does 22AWG wire mean and is it suitable for my servos? — The 22 AWG specification refers to the wire gauge—a measurement of conductor thickness. 22 AWG wire is the standard servo-grade wire and provides plenty of current capacity for typical servo applications in RC cars and trucks. It's suitable for all standard servo connections and is recognised as the best compromise between current capacity, flexibility, and ease of routing in receiver boxes.
  • Will this extension lead work with digital servos and analogue servos? — Yes, absolutely. Extension leads work identically with both digital and analogue servos because they simply pass the signal and power through without interference. Whether you're using budget analogue servos or high-performance digital servos in your RC vehicle, this extension lead will function perfectly.
  • Why is the connector clip important? — The connector clip is a safety feature that locks the male and female JR connectors together securely, preventing accidental disconnection during driving, jumping, or crashing. This is especially important in high-vibration environments or when your RC vehicle experiences impacts, ensuring your servo connection remains solid throughout your driving session.
  • What does 60-strand twisted wiring mean? — The wiring contains 60 individual strands of copper twisted together. This design provides superior flexibility compared to cheaper, lower-strand-count alternatives, resists copper fatigue from repeated bending, and performs better in high-vibration RC applications. Twisted wiring also reduces electromagnetic interference, potentially improving your receiver's performance.
  • Is this suitable for beginners building their first RC car? — Yes, extension leads are fundamental components for any RC build, from beginner to professional level. Using quality extension leads like this Radient lead ensures reliable servo connections, reducing potential electrical issues that frustrate newcomers. The clear colour coding makes polarity obvious, helping beginners avoid connection mistakes.
  • How do I know if I need a 400mm extension lead or a different length? — The 400mm length is a popular mid-range option suitable for most standard receiver box layouts in RC cars, buggies, and trucks. If your servo is very close to your receiver, you might need a shorter lead; if it's particularly far away, you might need longer. 400mm works well for typical setups and is the most versatile standard length available.
