Overview
The Radient Battery Adapter, EC3 Female to Tamiya Male, 14AWG, 100mm (RDNAC010114) is an essential connector solution for RC hobbyists who work with multiple battery standards. Whether you're running electric RC cars, helicopters, or drones across different setups, this adapter provides a straightforward way to connect Tamiya-style male plugs to EC3 female sockets. This practical addition to any pit box or workshop helps bridge two of the most widely used connector standards in radio control applications, saving you time, money and the hassle of rewiring or purchasing new batteries.
If you're building your RC collection or upgrading your RC car UK fleet, connector compatibility is a real-world challenge that many enthusiasts face. The Radient adapter solves this problem elegantly. Rather than chopping off existing connectors and soldering new ones – a time-consuming and potentially risky process – this ready-made adapter offers a quick, easy and affordable solution for mismatched connectors. It's perfect for beginners learning about RC power systems, weekend bashers who swap batteries between models, and experienced hobbyists managing multiple vehicles with different electrical standards.
Built to professional standards with quality materials, the Radient EC3 to Tamiya adapter maintains reliable power delivery whilst keeping your setup compact and tidy. The 100mm lead length is specifically designed to be manageable without excess coiling, and the 14AWG (14 gauge) wire provides adequate current handling for typical RC applications. This is the kind of essential accessory that every serious RC enthusiast should keep in their toolbox.
Key Features
- EC3 Female to Tamiya Male Configuration — This adapter accepts EC3 female connectors on one end and provides a Tamiya male connector on the other, allowing you to connect EC3-equipped batteries to Tamiya-compatible ESCs and devices without modification or soldering.
- 14AWG Wire Gauge — The 14 gauge silicone wire provides excellent current-carrying capacity whilst remaining flexible and easy to route through tight spaces in your RC vehicle chassis or battery compartment.
- 100mm Lead Length — The compact 100mm (approximately 4 inch) lead keeps the connection tidy and prevents excess cable from cluttering your vehicle or creating weight distribution issues, whilst remaining long enough to position connectors conveniently.
- Quick Installation Solution — Unlike soldering your own connectors or cutting and splicing wires, this ready-made adapter installs instantly, saving valuable workshop time and eliminating the risk of poor solder joints that could cause voltage drops or connections failure.
- Professional Quality Construction — Radient manufactures this adapter to hobby-grade standards, ensuring reliable connections and consistent performance across multiple charge and discharge cycles.
- Universal Compatibility — Works with any Tamiya-male-equipped ESC, battery charger, or electronic speed controller, and any EC3-female-equipped battery pack, making it a valuable multi-purpose tool for complex RC setups.
Technical Performance
The Radient Battery Adapter represents solid engineering for RC power delivery applications. The 14AWG wire specification is industry-standard for moderate-current RC applications, offering an excellent balance between current capacity, flexibility and practicality. This wire gauge is recognised across the RC community and used in professional charge leads and power distribution systems. The connector pair – EC3 female to Tamiya male – are amongst the most prevalent standards in radio control, meaning this adapter will prove useful across numerous vehicles and brands in your RC collection. The quality of the connectors themselves is critical; poor-quality adapters can generate significant resistance that causes voltage drop, heat generation and potentially connector melting under load. The Radient adapter is engineered to minimise these problems, though it's important to note that adapters themselves will always introduce slightly more resistance than a direct connection. For this reason, this adapter is best suited to moderate-power applications rather than extreme high-output setups. The 100mm lead length is moulded to maintain shape and prevent kinking, ensuring longevity and reliable performance. Construction uses quality terminal crimping rather than cheap soldered connections, which means you get a product that will withstand repeated connection and disconnection cycles without degradation. Whether you're charging batteries, connecting to an ESC, or bridging power systems on your brushless RC car UK setup, this adapter performs reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use this adapter for high-power racing or competition RC cars? — Whilst this adapter works perfectly for standard RC applications, it's not recommended for extreme high-output racing setups. Adapters inherently introduce slightly more resistance than direct connections, and under very high current draw (such as 8S LiPo racing applications with 150A+ ESCs), this resistance can cause the connector to generate heat and potentially melt. For competition racing, a direct soldered connection is preferable.
- Will this adapter work with my specific battery and ESC? — Yes, provided your battery has an EC3 female connector and your ESC or device has a Tamiya male connector. The EC3 and Tamiya standards are widely used across mainstream RC brands, so this adapter works with most brushless RC setups. Always verify your specific equipment before purchasing.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. This adapter is ideal for beginners because it eliminates the need for soldering. Soldering connectors is a skill that takes practice, and poor joints can cause dangerous electrical problems. This ready-made adapter lets you connect different battery standards immediately, with zero risk of connection failure.
- What current can this adapter safely handle? — The 14AWG wire can handle charge rates and discharge currents of around 30-40 amps comfortably under normal RC use. However, sustained high-current applications (particularly continuous currents above 50 amps) are not recommended due to heat generation. For heavy-duty charging applications requiring higher current capacity, you may want to look at purpose-designed charge leads with thicker gauge wire.
- How often can I plug and unplug this adapter? — The connectors are designed for regular connection and disconnection cycles typical of RC hobby use. You can expect hundreds of plug cycles before any wear becomes noticeable. Quality terminal design ensures reliable contact throughout the product's life.
- Is soldering required for installation? — No soldering required whatsoever. This is a fully assembled, ready-to-use adapter. Simply plug the EC3 female end into your battery and the Tamiya male end into your ESC – it takes seconds.
