Overview
The Radient Heat Shrink Tubing (RDNA0614) is an essential accessory for any RC enthusiast working on radio-controlled cars, trucks, buggies and crawlers across the UK. Whether you're building a new RC model, maintaining your existing fleet, or completing a custom installation, heat shrink tubing provides a professional, tidy finish to your electrical connections and cable management. This pack of eight pre-cut pieces offers convenience and consistency, allowing you to work efficiently without measuring or cutting individual lengths.
Heat shrink tubing is a fundamental component in RC hobby work. It serves multiple critical purposes: protecting exposed wires from short circuits, providing insulation around solder joints, creating neat and organised wiring looms, and enhancing the overall aesthetic of your RC car installation. Whether you're upgrading your brushless motor setup, installing a new ESC, or simply tidying up existing wiring, quality heat shrink tubing is indispensable. The Radient RDNA0614 delivers reliable performance at an affordable price point, making it perfect for hobbyists and serious RC builders alike.
This product is recommended for users aged 14 and above, reflecting the precision work involved in RC model assembly and maintenance. Radient is a trusted brand within the RC community, known for producing quality spares and upgrades that meet the needs of builders at all skill levels. The 3.1mm diameter is one of the most commonly used sizes in RC applications, fitting over standard wire gauges and connector types found on most electric RC vehicles sold in the UK market.
Key Features
- Precise 3.1mm Diameter — The 3.1mm diameter is specifically designed to fit standard RC wiring, connectors and solder joints, ensuring a snug fit without excess material that would compromise the neatness of your installation.
- 100mm Pre-Cut Length — Each piece measures exactly 100mm, eliminating the need for measuring and cutting individual lengths from longer rolls, saving time and ensuring consistency across your build.
- Pack of Eight Pieces — Supplied with eight individual heat shrink tubes, providing enough material for a complete wiring project or multiple smaller repairs and upgrades on your RC models.
- Professional Finish — Heat shrink tubing delivers a clean, professional appearance to your RC installation, protecting wires whilst creating an organised and visually polished result that looks as good as it performs.
- Electrical Insulation — Provides essential insulation around exposed connections and solder joints, protecting against accidental short circuits and reducing the risk of electrical damage to your RC vehicle's electronics.
- Lightweight Construction — At just 0.01kg shipping weight, this product adds negligible weight to your order and zero weight to your RC model, making it an efficient choice for weight-conscious builds.
- Brand-Trusted Quality — Radient's reputation within the UK RC hobby market ensures you're purchasing a reliable product that meets the standards expected by serious RC builders and casual enthusiasts alike.
- Age-Appropriate Safety — Clearly labelled for users aged 14 and above, reflecting the precision and care required when working with RC electrical components.
Technical Performance
Heat shrink tubing operates on a simple but effective principle: when heated (typically with a heat gun, lighter, or soldering iron), the material shrinks down tightly around the object it covers. The Radient RDNA0614 is engineered to provide reliable performance across a wide range of RC applications. The 3.1mm diameter sizing makes it compatible with most standard RC wire gauges and connector types used in electric RC cars, trucks, crawlers and buggies throughout the UK. The 100mm length is ideal for covering solder joints on XT90 and XT60 connectors, insulating multiple wires together, or creating neat cable management solutions in tight spaces within your RC chassis. The material itself is durable and maintains its insulating properties even in the warm environment created by running brushless motors and electronic speed controllers. Whether you're working on a 1/10 scale brushless RC buggy, a 1/8 scale truggy, or a larger RC crawler, this heat shrink tubing delivers the professional results demanded by today's RC hobby community. The pre-cut length eliminates waste and ensures every piece is ready to use immediately, making this product efficient for both single repairs and batch builds.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is heat shrink tubing used for in RC cars and models? — Heat shrink tubing is essential in RC work for insulating electrical connections, protecting solder joints from short circuits, covering exposed wires, and creating tidy wiring looms. It shrinks down when heated to form a snug protective layer around your components, which is particularly important when working with brushless motors, ESCs and battery connectors on RC buggies, trucks and crawlers.
- Will this 3.1mm heat shrink fit my RC connectors? — The 3.1mm diameter is designed to fit standard wire gauges and connectors commonly used in RC hobby applications throughout the UK. It works well with XT90, XT60 and similar connector types, though you should verify the specific diameter needed for your particular components before purchasing.
- How do I use heat shrink tubing on my RC model? — Slide the heat shrink tubing over the wire, connector or joint you wish to insulate. Then carefully apply heat using a heat gun, soldering iron, or lighter, moving the heat source evenly around the tubing until it shrinks down firmly around the component. Allow it to cool before handling.
- Is this suitable for beginners in RC hobby? — Yes, this product is recommended for users aged 14 and above, making it appropriate for teenage and adult hobbyists at all skill levels. Beginners will find heat shrink tubing an essential tool for learning proper electrical safety and creating professional-looking installations on their RC vehicles.
- How many pieces do I need for a typical RC project? — This pack of eight pieces should be sufficient for most single RC projects, covering battery connectors, ESC connections, and wire insulation. However, serious builders or those working on multiple vehicles may wish to purchase multiple packs.
- Can I use this heat shrink tubing on any RC vehicle? — Heat shrink tubing is universal across RC hobbies, working equally well on RC buggies, trucks, crawlers, short course vehicles, truggy models and other electric RC cars regardless of scale or manufacturer.
