Key Features

  • Genuine Futaba LiFePO4 Chemistry — This battery uses advanced lithium ferrite phosphate technology rather than standard lithium polymer, which delivers superior cycle life of approximately 500 charge cycles and more stable voltage output throughout the discharge curve, meaning consistent power delivery to your transmitter throughout an entire RC session.
  • 6.6V Nominal Output — The precise 6.6V voltage specification is engineered specifically for Futaba transmitter electronics, ensuring optimal performance, display brightness, and radio link quality without overvoltage stress or compatibility issues that can occur with mismatched battery voltages.
  • 2100mAh Capacity — This substantial capacity provides extended transmitter runtime between charges, allowing you to enjoy longer RC racing sessions, RC bashing days, or competition events without needing to pause for battery recharging, which is especially valuable during multi-round competitions or all-day RC club meets.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range — The battery functions reliably across extremely broad temperature conditions, from -20°C to +60°C during discharge, making it suitable for year-round RC operation in the UK, whether racing in winter conditions or summer heat, and maintaining performance consistency regardless of environmental conditions.
  • Compact and Lightweight Design — At just 101 grams and measuring approximately 42.5 x 79 x 17mm, this battery integrates seamlessly into your transmitter without adding noticeable weight or bulk, preserving the ergonomic balance and handling characteristics that professional pilots require during extended RC sessions.
  • Futaba Connector Compatibility — The factory-standard Futaba connector ensures perfect mechanical fit and electrical connection to your supported Futaba transmitter model, eliminating connection issues, intermittent contact problems, or the need for connector adapters that can introduce voltage drop or reliability concerns.
  • Appropriate for Professional and Competition Use — This battery meets the exacting standards of competitive RC pilots, club racers, and serious enthusiasts who cannot afford power failures or performance inconsistencies, and it is recognised throughout the RC community as the genuine article for demanding applications.

Technical Performance

The Futaba FT2F2100B represents a significant step forward in transmitter power technology compared to older nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride batteries. The LiFePO4 (lithium ferrite phosphate) chemistry provides several performance advantages that matter to serious RC pilots. First, the voltage stability is exceptional—rather than the voltage sag that occurs with older battery chemistries, the LiFePO4 design maintains consistent 6.6V output throughout the discharge cycle, meaning your transmitter's display remains bright, radio link performance stays optimal, and servo response remains crisp from the moment you power on until the battery is nearly depleted. This consistency is critical during RC competitions where transmission quality, servo resolution, and response time directly impact lap times and race outcomes. Second, the cycle life of approximately 500 charge cycles (variable depending on operating conditions and charging practices) represents excellent longevity—this means the battery will deliver thousands of hours of use before capacity degradation becomes noticeable, making it an economical investment despite its premium price point. The engineering that goes into achieving this cycle life includes internal protection circuits, careful cell balancing, and high-quality component selection. Third, the thermal management capabilities are superior—the wide discharging temperature range of -20°C to +60°C means the battery performs reliably whether you're racing during Scottish winters or summer heats across the UK, without the dramatic performance loss that affects lower-quality batteries in temperature extremes. The 101-gram weight and compact 42.5 x 79 x 17mm dimensions have been engineered to minimise transmitter weight while maximising internal energy density, and the physical design ensures the battery fits securely within supported transmitter models without mechanical stress or contact issues. The black polymer housing provides protection against impact and environmental exposure, whilst the Futaba connector delivers reliable current transfer without resistance losses.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Futaba FT2F2100B compatible with my transmitter? — This battery is compatible with Futaba transmitter models 3PV, 4GRS, 4PK, 4PKS, 4PKS-R, 4PL, 4PLS, 4PM, 4PV, 4PX, 4PX-R, 6J, 6K, 7PX, 7PX LE, 8J, 10J, 12K, 14SG, 16SZ, 18SZ, and 18SZ 70th Anniversary. Check your transmitter model number to confirm compatibility before purchasing. This battery is designed exclusively for transmitter use and should never be used to power RC model receivers, servos, or ESCs.
  • What charger do I need for this battery? — The FT2F2100B requires a compatible Futaba charger designed for LiFePO4 batteries. The approved chargers are the LBC-38D or LBC-4E5. These chargers are sold separately and provide the specific charging profile that LiFePO4 chemistry requires. Using an incorrect charger can damage the battery or create safety hazards, so always use one of these two approved chargers exclusively.
  • How long will this battery last on a single charge? — Runtime depends on your transmitter model, your transmission frequency, how often you use telemetry features, and your servo activity. Most users report 8-12 hours of continuous use on a full charge, though heavy usage with many channels and servo movements may reduce this. The 2100mAh capacity is significantly larger than standard transmitter batteries, providing extended session times compared to older battery packs.
  • What is the difference between this LiFePO4 battery and older transmitter batteries? — LiFePO4 technology offers several key advantages over older nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries: superior voltage stability throughout discharge (no voltage sag), longer cycle life (approximately 500 cycles versus 300-400 for older chemistries), better temperature performance across UK climate variations, lighter weight for equivalent capacity, and no memory effect (you can charge at any state of discharge without reducing battery life). The investment in LiFePO4 is worthwhile for serious RC pilots who demand reliability.
  • Can I use this battery for my RC receiver or ESC? — No. This battery is designed exclusively for transmitter use. It must not be used to power receivers, electronic speed controllers (ESCs), or servos. Using this transmitter battery in receiver circuits can cause damage to sensitive electronics and create safety hazards. Always use receiver-appropriate batteries (typically smaller capacity LiPo or LiFe packs) for your RC model equipment.
  • What storage conditions will keep this battery healthy? — Store the battery in a cool, dry location between -20°C and +25°C when not in use. Avoid storing in direct sunlight, vehicles during summer heat, or damp locations. If storing for extended periods (more than a month), consider charging the battery to approximately 50% capacity before storage, then re-charging before use. Proper storage practices will maximise the 500-cycle lifespan.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a premium battery designed for users who already own a compatible Futaba transmitter and understand RC charging procedures. Beginners should ensure they have the correct compatible charger (LBC-38D or LBC-4E5) before purchasing. The battery itself is safe and reliable, but requires proper charging equipment to maintain safety and longevity.
