Technical Performance

The T4PM Plus transmitter operates on the proven 2.4 GHz frequency band with 100mW EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) output, delivering a maximum operating range of 100 metres under optimum conditions—sufficient for virtually all surface racing and boating applications. The transmitter is powered by three standard penlight dry cells producing 4.5V total supply, with current drain of 150mA or less, providing extended operating time between battery changes. The 1/2 wavelength dipole antenna design ensures reliable signal propagation whilst maintaining a compact form factor. Communication with the included R334SBS-E receiver utilises a bidirectional protocol, enabling the telemetry feedback system that distinguishes competition-grade equipment from basic systems. The receiver itself measures just 33.9 × 22.3 × 11.3 millimetres and weighs only 7.5 grammes, making integration into compact chassis designs straightforward. The R334SBS-E operates across a voltage range of 3.7 to 7.4 volts DC, accommodating both standard 2S LiPo packs (7.4V nominal) and older NiMH battery systems. The integration of gyro mixing into the transmitter’s menu system ensures that adjustments can be made quickly and precisely, without the need for external programming tools.

Why is throttle speed control important for traction and battery life?

Throttle speed control is a valuable feature for maintaining traction and conserving battery power, especially on slippery surfaces. The Futaba surface radio with throttle speed and CPS-1 mixing allows users to smooth throttle input, preventing sudden acceleration that can lead to wheel spin and inefficient energy use. This function is particularly beneficial for electric vehicles operating on low-grip terrain, where controlled power delivery is essential. By customizing throttle response, drivers can achieve smoother launches, better handling, and extended run times, all from within the transmitter’s setup menu.

How does CPS-1 mixing enhance scale realism?

CPS-1 mixing enables synchronized LED lighting control using Futaba’s CPS-1 channel power switch, and the Futaba T4PM Plus surface radio with receiver integrates this feature seamlessly. Users can configure lights to respond to throttle and steering inputs, creating realistic effects such as brake lights, turn signals, and hazard flashes. This function adds a layer of visual feedback that enhances both realism and driver awareness. CPS-1 mixing is especially useful for scale crawlers and custom builds, where lighting plays a key role in presentation and functionality.
