The Traxxas Driveshafts, Rear, steel-spline constant-velocity (complete assembly) (2) TRX9450R represents the ultimate upgrade for RC enthusiasts who demand reliable power transfer and exceptional torque handling. Whether you're a competitive racer pushing your vehicle to the limit, a weekend basher tackling rough terrain, or an RC hobbyist in the UK looking to enhance your model's performance, these steel CV driveshafts deliver the durability and efficiency that separates good RC cars from great ones.
Designed and manufactured by Traxxas, a name synonymous with quality RC products, these rear constant-velocity driveshafts are engineered for vehicles that require maximum power delivery and reliability. The complete assembly comes ready to install, making them an excellent upgrade option for owners of compatible Traxxas models including Drag Slash, Bandit, and Bandit VXL. The combination of steel construction with constant-velocity joints means you get smooth power transfer at any angle, whether you're cornering at speed, climbing obstacles, or navigating challenging terrain that demands consistent performance from your brushless RC vehicle.
What sets these driveshafts apart in the competitive world of RC car upgrades is their engineering excellence and attention to detail. Every component is designed to handle the demands of serious RC driving, from the lubricated and sealed outer U-joints that protect against the elements to the captive U-joint pins that ensure nothing gets lost during intense driving sessions. When you invest in quality RC components like these steel-spline constant-velocity driveshafts, you're investing in reliability, performance, and the confidence that your vehicle will perform consistently, session after session.
Key Features
- Steel constant-velocity joints — These shafts offer ultimate torque handling and efficient power transfer, meaning more of the power from your RC motor reaches the wheels with minimal loss, resulting in better acceleration and more reliable performance in all driving conditions.
- Steel-spline construction — The steel-spline design provides superior strength and durability compared to standard plastic alternatives, ensuring the driveshafts can withstand the extreme forces generated by brushless motors and aggressive driving styles without bending or breaking.
- Lubricated and sealed U-joints — The outer U-joints are lubricated internally and sealed with a rubber boot that protects against mud, water, and dirt, essential for RC cars that see regular use in various British weather conditions and outdoor environments.
- Captive U-joint pins — The innovative design holds all U-joint pins captive, meaning you'll never lose a pin during a crash or intense driving session, reducing maintenance headaches and keeping your RC car running without unexpected downtime.
- Nickel-plated finish — The gleaming nickel-plated shaft coating not only provides a professional, custom appearance but also offers corrosion resistance that keeps your RC driveshafts looking and performing like new for longer.
- Black silicone boots — The black silicone rubber boots create an attractive contrast with the nickel plating whilst providing essential protection for the U-joints, sealing out contaminants and extending the service life of these critical components.
- Complete assembly package — These come as ready-to-install complete assemblies (a pair of two), eliminating the need to source multiple components separately and ensuring perfect compatibility with your vehicle.
- Model-specific compatibility — Compatible with Traxxas Drag Slash, Bandit, and Bandit VXL models, making this an authentic upgrade that maintains the performance standards Traxxas is known for in the UK RC hobby market.
Technical Performance
These steel constant-velocity driveshafts represent engineering excellence at the heart of your RC car's drivetrain. The constant-velocity joint design eliminates the binding and vibration that can occur with standard U-joints when the shaft operates at an angle, ensuring smooth power delivery whether you're cornering hard or hitting jumps. The steel-spline construction provides significantly more strength than plastic alternatives, allowing these shafts to handle the extreme torque outputs of modern brushless RC motors without flexing or failing. The outer U-joints feature internal lubrication and sealed rubber boots that protect the critical pivot points from the elements, crucial for maintaining performance in the wet UK climate and dusty track conditions. The captive U-joint pins represent a thoughtful engineering detail that prevents pin loss, a common problem with older driveshaft designs that can leave your vehicle immobilised. The nickel-plated finish not only delivers a premium appearance but also provides corrosion resistance, whilst the black silicone boots offer excellent protection and a professional aesthetic. Every aspect of these driveshafts has been designed to maximise durability, reliability, and performance whilst maintaining compatibility with existing Traxxas drivetrains and suspension geometry.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these driveshafts compatible with my RC car? — These TRX9450R driveshafts are specifically designed for Traxxas Drag Slash, Bandit, and Bandit VXL models. Always verify compatibility with your specific vehicle before purchase to ensure proper fitment and performance.
- What is constant-velocity and why does it matter for RC cars? — Constant-velocity (CV) joints maintain consistent power delivery regardless of the angle at which the driveshaft operates, preventing binding and vibration that can occur with standard U-joints. This results in smoother acceleration, better handling characteristics, and more predictable performance, especially when cornering or driving over uneven terrain.
- How do these compare to plastic driveshafts? — Steel-spline constant-velocity driveshafts offer dramatically superior strength and durability compared to plastic alternatives. The steel construction can handle higher torque outputs from brushless motors without flexing or breaking, making them essential for serious RC drivers who demand reliability and consistent performance across extended driving sessions.
- Will these driveshafts work in wet or muddy conditions? — Yes, the sealed rubber boots and lubricated U-joints provide protection against mud, water, and dirt, making these driveshafts suitable for RC driving in various British weather conditions. The sealed design helps prevent water ingress and contamination that could degrade performance.
- What maintenance do these driveshafts require? — The sealed and lubricated design minimises maintenance requirements. Simply inspect the rubber boots periodically for damage, and rinse with fresh water after driving in muddy or salty conditions. The captive U-joint pins mean you don't need to worry about pin loss that plagues some older designs.
- Can I use these driveshafts for racing? — Absolutely. These steel constant-velocity driveshafts are engineered for maximum performance and durability, making them an excellent choice for competitive racing where reliability and consistent power delivery are crucial for lap times and finishing without mechanical failure.
