Overview
The Traxxas Caster blocks, 6061-T6 aluminium (grey-anodised), left & right represent a premium upgrade for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to enhance their Maxx or MaxxSlash platform. These aren't your average replacement parts — they're precision-engineered components that elevate the performance, durability and aesthetics of your RC short course truck or monster truck. Whether you're a seasoned basher, weekend warrior, or competitive racer, upgrading to aluminium caster blocks is one of the smartest investments you can make for your RC car.
Traxxas has taken an already proven caster block design and revolutionised it with 6061-T6 aluminium construction, dramatically improving toughness and durability compared to the plastic alternatives. These left and right caster blocks (also known as C-hubs) are the critical steering and suspension components that connect your wheels to the main chassis, so upgrading them to aluminium means your RC vehicle will handle better, steer more precisely, and last significantly longer under intense driving conditions. The brilliant grey anodised finish adds genuine high-tech style to your machine, giving it that professional, finished look you see on competition-grade RC vehicles.
If you own a Traxxas Maxx Slash 1/8 4WD 6S brushless short course truck or a WideMaxx monster truck, these caster blocks are an essential upgrade that will transform your driving experience. The careful machining process preserves perfect steering geometry and suspension alignment, ensuring that your suspension travels smoothly and your steering responds predictably. This is exactly the kind of quality upgrade that separates casual basher setups from seriously capable RC machines.
Key Features
- 6061-T6 Aluminium Construction — The aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminium used in these caster blocks is significantly stronger and more durable than plastic alternatives, making it the preferred choice for RC vehicles that see regular use or competitive racing. This material resists bending, warping and breaking under the intense lateral forces generated during high-speed cornering and aggressive driving.
- Precision Machined from Solid Blocks — Rather than being moulded or cast, these caster blocks are carefully machined from solid aluminium blocks, which guarantees superior dimensional accuracy, perfect geometry and consistent quality throughout. This machining process preserves exact steering and suspension geometry specifications that the Traxxas engineers designed for optimal handling performance.
- Grey Anodised Finish — The anodising process creates a hard, protective oxide layer that resists corrosion, wear and fading, while also delivering a stunning professional appearance. The grey anodised colour scheme gives your RC vehicle a sophisticated, competition-ready aesthetic that stands out on any track or bashing field.
- Left and Right Pair Included — You receive both left and right caster blocks in this single package, making it simple to perform a complete upgrade to both sides of your vehicle at once, ensuring balanced handling and symmetric steering response.
- Complete Hardware Package — Each set includes all the fasteners and retainers you need for installation, including 4x22mm suspension pins and 3x10mm screws with threadlock, eliminating any guesswork about which parts you need.
- Threadlock Pre-Applied — The included 3x10mm screws come with threadlock already applied, meaning your fasteners will stay tight and secure through countless hours of driving without vibrating loose, which is essential for maintaining consistent handling characteristics.
- Drop-In Compatibility — These caster blocks are precision-engineered to work seamlessly with your existing Maxx or MaxxSlash platform, requiring no modifications, drilling or special installation procedures beyond standard bolt-on replacement.
Technical Performance
The engineering excellence behind these Traxxas caster blocks lies in the choice of 6061-T6 aluminium, a material specification that's literally used in aerospace applications for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to fatigue and corrosion. When you're driving your 1/8 scale brushless RC short course truck or monster truck at high speeds, the caster blocks experience enormous lateral and vertical loads during cornering, acceleration and deceleration. The 6061-T6 material is specifically chosen because it can withstand these repeated stress cycles without deforming, cracking or failing, whereas plastic caster blocks can gradually develop micro-fractures, bend slightly, or break catastrophically under impact. The precision machining from solid blocks ensures that the steering and suspension geometry remains absolutely perfect, which is critical because even slight deviations in caster angle, camber or kingpin inclination can dramatically affect how your RC vehicle steers and handles. The 4x22mm suspension pins and 3x10mm fasteners with threadlock provide a completely secure, rattle-free assembly that maintains consistent handling lap after lap, session after session. Whether you're running a WideMaxx monster truck through rough terrain, a Maxx Slash over whoops and jumps, or carving tight corners on a competition track, these aluminium caster blocks deliver the durability, precision and reliability that discerning RC enthusiasts demand from their equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these caster blocks compatible with my Traxxas RC truck? — These grey-anodised aluminium caster blocks are confirmed compatible with Traxxas Maxx Slash 1/8 4WD 6S brushless short course trucks (all colour variants including Rock N Roll, Blue, Red and Green) and WideMaxx monster trucks (Red, Rock N Roll and Green variants). If you own one of these models, these caster blocks are a direct replacement for your existing plastic caster blocks.
- Why should I upgrade from plastic to aluminium caster blocks? — Plastic caster blocks are functional for casual bashing, but aluminium blocks deliver superior durability, better handling precision, and increased longevity. The 6061-T6 aluminium construction resists bending, won't crack under impact, and maintains perfect geometry over thousands of driving cycles. If you drive regularly or competitively, the performance and reliability upgrade is genuinely worthwhile.
- Will these caster blocks improve my RC vehicle's handling? — Upgrading to these precision-machined aluminium caster blocks will noticeably improve steering response and handling precision. Because they don't flex or bend under cornering forces like plastic blocks do, your RC vehicle will steer more predictably, maintain better camber geometry through corners, and deliver more consistent lap times.
- Are these difficult to install? — Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC experience. These blocks are precision-engineered to bolt directly onto your Maxx or MaxxSlash with no modifications required. You'll simply remove the plastic caster blocks, install the new aluminium ones using the included pins and screws, and you're done. The threadlock pre-applied to the fasteners means you don't need to worry about vibration loosening them.
- Do I need any special tools to install these? — You'll need basic hex key/Allen wrench tools that come standard with most Traxxas toolkits. The installation process uses the same fastener sizes and procedures as the original plastic caster blocks, so if you've ever worked on your Traxxas vehicle before, you'll have no trouble with this upgrade.
- What is the difference between the grey, red and blue anodised versions? — The grey, red and blue versions are functionally identical — they use the same 6061-T6 aluminium material, the same precision machining, the same suspension pins and fasteners, and deliver identical performance. The only difference is the colour of the anodised finish, so you can choose whichever colour best matches your RC vehicle's aesthetics or personal preference.
- Are these caster blocks worth the investment? — Yes, absolutely. Upgrading to aluminium caster blocks is one of the most cost-effective performance and reliability upgrades you can make for an RC short course truck or monster truck. They're a relatively affordable enhancement that delivers noticeably better handling, significantly better durability, and will likely last the lifetime of your vehicle, whereas plastic caster blocks may eventually crack or bend and require replacement.
