The Radient 80A G2 ESC / SBEC (2-6 Cells) is a professional-grade electronic speed controller designed to deliver dependable, fuss-free motor control for club and sport RC pilots. Built around a fast 32-bit microprocessor and low-heat MOSFET design, this compact yet powerful ESC offers super-smooth start-up, accurate throttle linearity and high efficiency that will transform your RC fixed-wing aircraft's performance. Whether you're flying a sport aircraft, tackling aerobatic manoeuvres or operating scale models, the Radient 80A G2 provides the precision control and reliability that experienced RC enthusiasts demand.
Measuring just 90 x 37 x 10mm and weighing only 75 grams, the Radient 80A G2 is engineered for aircraft where weight savings matter and space is at a premium. This ESC sits at the heart of modern RC aircraft systems, offering the stable, responsive control that separates amateur setups from properly configured RC planes. The unit combines light weight, compact size and robust protection in one versatile package, making it an excellent choice for anyone serious about RC flight in the UK or anywhere else in the world.
RC enthusiasts choosing an ESC need to balance performance, reliability and ease of setup. The Radient 80A G2 excels in all three areas, featuring pre-installed XT60 battery and bullet-style motor connectors that make installation straightforward and eliminate the fumbling that comes with soldering connectors. From the moment you unbox it, this ESC is ready to work with your motor and battery system, delivering the control precision that defines quality RC aircraft performance.
Key Features
- Low Heat Generation MOSFET with High Instant Current Capability — The advanced MOSFET design minimises heat dissipation during operation, which extends component lifespan and allows the ESC to deliver maximum instantaneous current when you need it most, such as during sudden throttle increases or aerobatic manoeuvres.
- Fast 32-Bit Microprocessor — A powerful on-board processor handles complex control algorithms at high speed, enabling precise regulation of motor power and ensuring that your throttle inputs are translated into smooth, predictable aircraft response without lag or jitter.
- Super-Smooth Start-Up and Accurate Throttle Linearity — The ESC has been programmed to deliver consistent, linear throttle response across the entire control range, meaning your aircraft will accelerate and decelerate smoothly and predictably, giving you confidence in every manoeuvre from gentle cruising to aggressive aerobatics.
- High Efficiency with Energy-Saving Performance — By minimising power losses in the ESC itself, more of your battery's energy goes directly to your motor, extending flight times and reducing the heat buildup that can damage expensive components or shorten battery life.
- Adjustable SBEC Output Voltage — The built-in Switch-Mode Battery Eliminator Circuit allows you to optimise the voltage delivered to your servos, maximising servo performance and ensuring your control surfaces respond with authority and precision throughout the flight envelope.
- Integrated Protection Suite — Start-up protection, over-heat protection, low-voltage protection, signal loss protection and phase loss protection work together to safeguard your equipment from common flight emergencies and electrical faults, giving you peace of mind in the air.
- LCD Card Programming — Rather than navigating complex menus or needing specialist software, you can adjust the ESC settings using a dedicated LCD programming card, making configuration quick and convenient whether you're at the field or at home preparing your aircraft.
- Pre-Installed XT60 Battery Connector — The industry-standard XT60 connector is factory-fitted, eliminating the need for additional soldering and ensuring a secure, reliable connection between your LiPo battery and the ESC.
- Pre-Installed Bullet-Style Motor Connectors — Quality bullet connectors are already in place, ready to accept your motor's connector or allow you to solder directly for maximum current handling, depending on your preference and motor specifications.
- Wide Motor Compatibility — The ESC is compatible with most motors on the market including high RPM types, giving you maximum flexibility when selecting or upgrading your motor without worrying about compatibility issues.
Technical Performance
The Radient 80A G2 ESC represents the modern standard in RC aircraft electronic speed control. With a continuous current rating of 80 amps, this unit is capable of handling a wide range of brushless motors commonly used in sport, aerobatic and scale fixed-wing aircraft. The 2-6 cell LiPo battery compatibility means you can configure your aircraft with 7.4V (2S), 11.1V (3S), 14.8V (4S), 18.5V (5S) or 22.2V (6S) power systems depending on your motor choice and performance requirements. The low-heat MOSFET design ensures that even during extended flights or sustained high-throttle operation, the ESC remains cool and maintains its performance characteristics. The 32-bit microprocessor runs algorithms at high frequency, processing throttle inputs and motor feedback with the precision that transforms an RC aircraft from merely functional to truly responsive. At just 75 grams, the ESC's weight penalty is minimal, yet the engineering inside delivers professional-grade control. The compact dimensions of 90 x 37 x 10mm mean it fits easily into the fuselage or motor pod of most aircraft designs without requiring major structural modifications. Build quality throughout is robust, with quality connectors and solid PCB construction. The SBEC output can be adjusted to deliver exactly the voltage your servo system needs, whether you're running standard servos that prefer 5V or digital high-torque servos that perform best at 6V or higher. This attention to servo power quality is what separates merely adequate speed controllers from excellent ones — your servos will respond faster and with more authority when they receive clean, regulated power at their optimal voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What type of motor is compatible with the Radient 80A G2 ESC? — The ESC is compatible with most brushless motors on the market, including high RPM types commonly used in sport and aerobatic aircraft. As long as your motor's power requirements don't exceed 80 amps continuous current, and you're using a 2-6 cell LiPo battery, the ESC will handle it effectively.
- What battery voltage range does this ESC support? — The Radient 80A G2 is rated for 2-6 cell LiPo batteries, covering the voltage range from 7.4V (2S) through to 22.2V (6S). This broad compatibility allows you to select the battery and motor combination that best suits your aircraft design and performance goals.
- Is the Radient 80A G2 suitable for beginners? — Whilst the ESC itself is user-friendly with pre-installed connectors and convenient LCD card programming, it is primarily designed for club and sport pilots rather than complete beginners. However, if you already have experience with RC aircraft and understand battery handling and motor control, this ESC will serve you excellently at all skill levels.
- What protection features are included in this ESC? — The Radient 80A G2 includes comprehensive protection against start-up problems, overheating, low battery voltage, signal loss from your radio system, and phase loss in the motor drive. These multiple safeguards work together to protect both the ESC and your motor from damage caused by electrical faults or unexpected flying conditions.
- How do I program the Radient 80A G2 ESC? — Programming is straightforward using an LCD programming card (sold separately if not included), which allows you to adjust settings such as SBEC output voltage, throttle response, motor timing and protection thresholds without needing a computer or specialist software.
- What is the SBEC and why is it important? — The Switch-Mode Battery Eliminator Circuit (SBEC) is a voltage regulator that provides clean, stable power directly to your servos, eliminating the need for a separate battery. The adjustable feature means you can optimise the voltage for your specific servo types, whether they prefer standard 5V or higher voltage operation, ensuring maximum servo responsiveness and torque.
- How much does the Radient 80A G2 weigh? — At just 75 grams, the ESC is lightweight enough for virtually any aircraft design where minimising component weight is important, yet robust enough to handle the demands of sport and scale flying.
- What connectors are included? — The ESC comes with a pre-installed XT60 battery connector for secure connection to your LiPo battery, and pre-installed bullet-style motor connectors ready to accept your motor's connector or solder connections.
