Overview
The AXIAL Shock Tuning and Rebuild Kit for the IS10 and AXP8 is an essential maintenance and performance upgrade component for RC enthusiasts who demand precision handling and reliability from their trail buggies. Whether you're a serious competitor fine-tuning your 1/8 scale RC buggy or a dedicated hobbyist looking to extend the lifespan of your shocks, this comprehensive rebuild kit delivers everything you need to service, customise and optimise your suspension system. The IS10 and AXP8 platforms are renowned in the RC car UK community for their exceptional performance and durability, and maintaining your shocks with genuine AXIAL components ensures your vehicle continues to perform at its peak.
Shock performance is critical to any RC model's handling characteristics, and over time, wear and tear can compromise responsiveness, damping and overall ride quality. This rebuild kit allows you to restore your shocks to factory specifications or experiment with different tuning configurations to match your driving style and terrain. Whether you're bashing at the weekend or competing in serious RC racing events, the ability to tune and rebuild your suspension is what separates casual drivers from those who truly understand their machines. AXIAL's reputation for quality engineering means this kit contains precision-manufactured components built to exacting standards.
Compatible with both the C-AXI-1207T2 Axial 1/8 AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 4X4 RTR Brushed Trail Buggy in Red and the C-AXI-1207T1 Axial 1/8 AXP8 Gilamon 2.2 4X4 RTR Brushed Trail Buggy in Green, this kit is purpose-engineered for these specific models. If you own an AXP8 Gilamon trail buggy or another compatible 1/8 scale AXIAL platform, investing in genuine AXIAL shock tuning components is the smart choice for long-term reliability and consistent performance.
Key Features
- OEM AXIAL Components — This rebuild kit contains genuine factory parts manufactured by AXIAL to exact specifications, ensuring perfect fitment and consistent performance that aftermarket alternatives simply cannot match. Using OEM components guarantees compatibility and longevity.

- Tuning and Performance Customisation — Beyond simple replacement, this kit enables you to experiment with different shock configurations to fine-tune your RC buggy's handling characteristics, damping rates and ride height for optimal performance on your preferred terrain.
- Extended Shock Life — Regular maintenance and rebuilding using quality components dramatically extends the operational life of your suspension system, protecting your investment in your RC model and ensuring reliable performance season after season.
- Platform Compatibility — Specifically engineered for the IS10 and AXP8 platforms including the popular Gilamon 2.2 4X4 models, this kit ensures seamless integration without fitment issues or compatibility concerns.
- Essential Maintenance Kit — Every serious RC enthusiast in the UK should maintain spare shock components on hand; this kit provides everything needed for emergency repairs or preventative maintenance when you need it most.
Technical Performance
Shocks are among the most critical components in any RC suspension system, and their condition directly impacts how your vehicle handles corners, absorbs impacts and maintains traction across varying terrain. The IS10 and AXP8 shock systems are precision-engineered assemblies containing sealed internal chambers, precision-machined pistons, springs and oil-filled dampening systems that work together to provide controlled suspension travel and consistent handling. Over time, internal seals can degrade, oils can become contaminated, and springs can lose their original characteristics due to fatigue and environmental exposure. This comprehensive rebuild kit restores all these critical internal elements to factory specifications. For serious RC racers and bashers, understanding shock tuning is fundamental—variables such as shock oil viscosity, piston configuration, spring rates and internal damping adjustments all contribute to how your buggy sits, rides and corners. The components in this kit enable you to experiment with these variables systematically, documenting how each change affects your vehicle's behaviour on track or trail. Whether you're dialling in a precision race setup or simply restoring your weekend basher to full functionality, having access to genuine AXIAL shock components ensures you're working with parts engineered specifically for your platform's geometry and suspension kinematics.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What shock components are included in this rebuild kit? — This kit contains the internal shock components necessary to rebuild and service your IS10 or AXP8 shocks. The exact parts vary based on your specific shock configuration, but typically include seals, pistons, springs and internal valving components. Check your shock assembly against your buggy's manual to confirm which components you need.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Shock rebuilding requires some mechanical knowledge and care, including understanding how to safely disassemble sealed chambers without losing internal components or cross-threading precision fittings. Experienced RC hobbyists will find this straightforward; complete beginners may benefit from consulting their vehicle's detailed service manual or seeking guidance from experienced club members before undertaking shock rebuilds for the first time.
- How often should I rebuild my shocks? — Shock maintenance frequency depends on how heavily you use your RC buggy. Competitive racers often rebuild after 5-10 hours of serious track use, whilst casual bashers may rebuild annually or as performance degrades. Regular inspection for oil leaks, sluggish damping response or uneven ride height indicates it's time to rebuild.
- Will this work with my Gilamon 2.2 4X4 trail buggy? — Yes, this kit is specifically designed for the C-AXI-1207T2 and C-AXI-1207T1 Gilamon 2.2 4X4 models in both Red and Green, as well as other compatible IS10 and AXP8 equipped platforms. Verify your buggy model number before ordering to ensure perfect compatibility.
- Can I use aftermarket shock components instead? — Whilst some aftermarket options exist, genuine AXIAL components are engineered to factory tolerances and specifications, ensuring perfect fitment and performance characteristics matched to your buggy's suspension geometry. OEM components offer the highest reliability and longevity.
- What tools will I need for shock rebuilding? — Shock rebuilding typically requires precision screwdrivers, possibly a shock stand or workbench vice to safely hold components, and care to avoid losing small internal parts. Your vehicle's detailed service documentation should specify exact tools required for your specific shock design.
