Overview

The Axial 32P Overdrive Ring/Pinion 13T/38T (6.30:1) is a precision-engineered drivetrain component designed for the Axial AXP8 platform, specifically engineered to optimise performance in trail buggies and rock crawling RC vehicles. This overdrive gear set delivers a 6.30:1 gear ratio that transforms your RC car's acceleration and torque characteristics, making it an essential upgrade for enthusiasts looking to fine-tune their vehicle's power delivery and handling characteristics. Whether you're an experienced RC hobbyist in the UK or someone looking to maximise the potential of your AXP8 Gilamon 2.2, this genuine Axial component ensures perfect fitment and reliable performance every time you take your RC car out.

Built to Axial's exacting standards, this overdrive ring and pinion set represents the kind of precision engineering that separates quality RC upgrades from budget alternatives. The 32-pitch specification ensures compatibility with a wide range of AXP8 drivetrain configurations, whilst the specific tooth counts (13T pinion and 38T ring gear) are optimised for the ultimate balance between acceleration and top-end speed. For UK RC enthusiasts shopping for ready-to-run RC upgrades or those looking to enhance an existing setup, this component offers genuine performance benefits backed by Axial's reputation for quality and durability.

This is the kind of upgrade that serious RC hobbyists reach for when they want to extract maximum performance from their trail buggy without compromising reliability. The overdrive configuration provides superior traction and acceleration in demanding terrain, making it particularly popular with rock crawlers and trail runners who demand consistent, predictable power delivery in challenging conditions.

Key Features

  • 32-Pitch Gear Profile — The 32-pitch specification ensures optimal meshing with compatible AXP8 drivetrain components, providing smooth engagement and efficient power transfer whilst minimising drivetrain noise and wear during extended running sessions.
  • 13T/38T Tooth Configuration — The pinion and ring gear tooth counts are precisely engineered to deliver a 6.30:1 overall gear ratio, offering the ideal compromise between acceleration response and top speed for trail running and rock crawling applications.
  • 6.30:1 Overdrive Ratio — This gear ratio optimises your RC buggy's performance characteristics, providing enhanced acceleration and torque delivery that translates to improved climbing ability, better traction in loose terrain, and more responsive throttle feel during trail navigation.
  • AXP8 Platform Compatibility — Specifically engineered for the Axial AXP8 drivetrain, this component offers guaranteed fitment and performance optimisation for the Gilamon 2.2 4X4 brushed trail buggy platform, eliminating guesswork and compatibility concerns.
  • Genuine Axial Engineering — Manufactured to Axial's quality standards, this upgrade component delivers the reliability and consistency that RC enthusiasts expect from factory-authorised parts, ensuring your investment in performance enhancements pays dividends over time.
  • Precision Machining — The ring and pinion gears are precision-machined from premium materials and engineered to exact tolerances, ensuring smooth operation, minimal backlash, and extended component lifespan even under demanding trail conditions.

Technical Performance

The Axial 32P Overdrive Ring/Pinion set represents a significant performance upgrade for AXP8 platform vehicles, specifically the Axial Gilamon 2.2 4X4 brushed trail buggy. The 6.30:1 gear ratio delivers superior acceleration and climbing torque compared to standard gearing, making this upgrade particularly valuable for UK RC enthusiasts tackling challenging terrain. The 32-pitch specification ensures compatibility with existing AXP8 drivetrain components, requiring no additional modifications to your RC car's transmission system. The overdrive configuration optimises power delivery characteristics, providing responsive acceleration whilst maintaining controllable top-end speed suitable for trail navigation and rock crawling. Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the gear ratio of this ring and pinion set? — This Axial overdrive gear set delivers a 6.30:1 gear ratio, achieved through the combination of the 13-tooth pinion gear and the 38-tooth ring gear. This ratio optimises your AXP8's acceleration and torque delivery whilst maintaining suitable top-end speed for trail running and rock crawling.
  • What vehicles is this compatible with? — This 32P overdrive ring and pinion set is specifically engineered for the Axial AXP8 platform, including the Axial Gilamon 2.2 4X4 RTR brushed trail buggy available in both green and red colour options. The part number Z-AXI-2199 ensures perfect fitment and optimal performance with these vehicles.
  • Is this suitable for beginners or experienced RC hobbyists? — Whilst this is a genuine performance upgrade component, it is best suited for experienced RC enthusiasts who are comfortable performing drivetrain maintenance and modifications on their RC vehicles. Beginners should ensure they have the mechanical knowledge and proper tools required for installation before purchasing this component.
  • Why should I upgrade to an overdrive gear ratio? — The overdrive configuration provides enhanced acceleration and climbing torque, which translates to improved traction in loose terrain, better response to throttle input, and superior performance when navigating technical rock crawling sections. This makes overdrive gearing particularly popular with serious trail runners in the UK RC hobby community.
  • What is the difference between overdrive and standard gearing? — Overdrive gear ratios like this 6.30:1 set deliver higher torque and acceleration compared to standard ratios, at the expense of slightly lower top-end speed. This trade-off makes overdrive gearing ideal for trail running and rock crawling, where acceleration response and climbing ability are more important than outright speed.
  • Will I need any additional parts to install this upgrade? — Installation requires basic mechanical knowledge and appropriate tools for drivetrain work. No additional components are necessary, as this gear set is engineered to integrate directly with existing AXP8 drivetrain components without modification.
