Overview
The ARRMA Motor Heatsink V2 is an essential cooling accessory for RC enthusiasts running 3660 and 3668 brushless motors in their high-performance RC vehicles. Whether you're piloting a ready-to-run RC car, truck, or buggy across the UK, motor temperature management is critical to maintaining peak performance and extending the lifespan of your valuable brushless motor. This precision-engineered aluminium heatsink is designed to dissipate heat efficiently during extended running sessions, keeping your motor operating within optimal temperature ranges even during intense racing or bashing action.
Designed for compatibility with 36mm diameter motors, this V2 heatsink represents ARRMA's commitment to providing quality cooling solutions for their range of brushless RC vehicles. If you're building a competitive 1/10 or 1/8 scale RC car, truck, buggy or stadium truck, or simply want to extend the operational life of your existing motor, this heatsink offers a cost-effective upgrade that makes a measurable difference in motor longevity and performance consistency. Available at RC Model Shop, this is the perfect accessory for UK RC hobbyists who demand reliability and durability from their equipment.
Motor cooling is not a luxury—it's a necessity. High-performance brushless motors generate significant heat during operation, particularly in demanding conditions such as outdoor bashing, competitive racing, or extended practice sessions. By adding the ARRMA Motor Heatsink V2 to your setup, you're investing in thermal management that helps prevent performance throttling, maintains consistent power delivery, and protects your motor investment from heat-related wear and degradation.
Key Features
- Precision manufactured construction — Every heatsink is precision engineered to ensure a perfect fit on 36mm diameter motors, guaranteeing secure mounting and optimal contact for efficient heat transfer without modifications or adjustments.
- High-quality light-weight aluminium construction — The heatsink is crafted from premium-grade aluminium that provides excellent thermal conductivity whilst remaining light enough not to add unnecessary weight to your RC vehicle, maintaining the power-to-weight ratio essential for competitive performance.
- Multi-fin design for maximum surface area — The innovative fin pattern dramatically increases the overall surface area of the heatsink, allowing more heat to be dissipated into the surrounding air and maintaining lower motor temperatures during continuous operation.
- Black anodized finish with etched ARRMA logo — Beyond functionality, the sleek black anodized coating provides protection against corrosion and oxidation whilst the etched ARRMA branding adds a professional aesthetic to your RC build that showcases your commitment to quality equipment.
- 35mm fan mounting capability — The flat area on the heatsink is specifically designed to accommodate a standard 35mm cooling fan, allowing you to create an even more effective active cooling system for your motor when running in particularly demanding conditions.
- Included heatsink clamp screw — The M3x12mm cap head screw is included in the package, providing everything you need for immediate installation without requiring additional fasteners or hardware.
- Universal compatibility with multiple ARRMA vehicles — This heatsink is compatible with a wide range of ARRMA 1/10 and 1/8 scale brushless RC vehicles including the BIG ROCK, GRANITE, SENTON, TYPHON and VORTEKS models, making it a versatile choice for any ARRMA collection.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Motor Heatsink V2 represents the intersection of thermal engineering and practical RC design. Constructed from high-quality light-weight aluminium, this component is engineered to handle the thermal demands of modern brushless motors whilst maintaining structural integrity and minimising parasitic weight addition. The multi-fin design is critical to its performance—by increasing surface area, the heatsink exponentially improves heat dissipation compared to a flat-surfaced motor can alone. This is particularly important for 36mm diameter motors like the 3660 and 3668 brushless units common in competitive 1/10 scale RC cars, trucks and buggies across the UK RC racing scene. The black anodized finish is not merely cosmetic; it provides enhanced corrosion resistance, which is essential for vehicles exposed to moisture, dust, and outdoor elements typical of UK RC bashers and track competitors. The flat mounting area for 35mm fans opens up additional active cooling possibilities, allowing builders to combine passive heatsink cooling with active airflow for maximum thermal management. When used in conjunction with quality brushless motors and appropriate ESC ratings, this heatsink helps maintain motor temperatures in the safe operating range, preventing thermal shutdown and preserving long-term motor reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which ARRMA vehicles is this heatsink compatible with? — This heatsink is compatible with a comprehensive range of ARRMA 1/10 and 1/8 scale brushless vehicles including the BIG ROCK 223S DSC 4X4 RTR Monster Truck (available in Green, Black, and Blue), the GRANITE 223S DSC 4X4 RTR Monster Truck (available in Blue, Gun Metal, and Red), the SENTON 223S BLX 4X4 Short Course Truck RTR with DSC (available in Red, Yellow, and Blue/Purple), the TYPHON 223S BLX 4X4 Buggy RTR with DSC (available in Yellow, Blue, Green, and Red), and the VORTEKS 223S BLX 4X4 Stadium Truck RTR with DSC (available in Red, Purple, and Teal). If you own any of these ready-to-run ARRMA vehicles, this heatsink will provide direct compatibility.
- Will this heatsink improve my motor's performance and lifespan? — Yes, this heatsink directly contributes to both performance and longevity by managing motor temperature. Brushless motors operate most efficiently within specific temperature ranges; when temperatures rise beyond optimal levels, performance can be throttled by electronic protection circuits. By maintaining lower temperatures through efficient heat dissipation, the heatsink helps sustain consistent power delivery throughout your running session. More importantly, reducing heat stress extends the overall lifespan of motor windings and bearings, which are the components most affected by thermal stress and degradation.
- Can I add active cooling to this heatsink with a fan? — Absolutely. The heatsink features a flat mounting area specifically designed to accommodate a standard 35mm cooling fan. Adding a fan creates active cooling that pulls warm air across the heatsink fins, significantly enhancing thermal management beyond passive cooling alone. This is particularly valuable if you run your RC car in hot conditions or during extended competition sessions.
- Is this heatsink suitable for competitive RC racing? — Yes, this heatsink is ideal for competitive racing. Motor temperature management is crucial in racing environments where consistent power delivery and performance reliability directly impact race results. Many competitive RC enthusiasts in the UK use heatsinks like this as standard equipment on their race vehicles. The precision manufacturing ensures reliable performance, whilst the lightweight aluminium construction avoids adding unnecessary weight that would affect your vehicle's handling and speed.
- What motor size does this heatsink fit? — This heatsink is specifically designed for 36mm diameter motors, making it compatible with ARRMA's 3660 and 3668 brushless motor offerings. Do not attempt to use this heatsink with motors of different diameters, as the fit will not be secure and cooling performance will be compromised.
- Will I need any additional tools or hardware to install this heatsink? — Installation is straightforward and requires minimal tools. The M3x12mm cap head screw is included in the package, so you'll simply need a hex key (Allen wrench) of the appropriate size—typically a 2mm or 2.5mm hex key. You may want to apply a small amount of thermal compound between the motor can and heatsink to further improve heat transfer, though this is optional.
