Overview

The ARRMA Shock Set Bore:16mm, Length: 134mm, Piston: 8x1.3mm, Oil: 1300cSt is a premium replacement suspension component designed for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliable performance and easy maintenance. This shock set represents ARRMA's commitment to quality engineering and hassle-free upgrades, making it an essential spare part for owners of compatible 1/8 scale ARRMA speed trucks and buggies. Whether you're racing competitively, bashing at the weekend, or simply maintaining your RC car collection, this professionally assembled shock set delivers the durability and performance expected from a leading RC brand.

Supplied as a pair of fully assembled shock absorbers pre-filled with high-quality 1300cSt silicone shock oil, this product eliminates the need for complex assembly and tuning before installation. Simply bolt the shocks onto your vehicle and you're ready to experience responsive, plush damping on any terrain. For UK-based RC enthusiasts who value convenience and quality, this ARRMA shock set offers outstanding value and reliability.

These shocks are specifically engineered for models including the ARRMA 1/8 KRATON 6S V6 4X4 BLX Speed Monster Truck and the ARRMA 1/8 NOTORIOUS 6S V6 4X4 BLX Stunt Truck, making them the perfect choice for owners of these high-performance vehicles seeking replacement or upgrade components.

Key Features

  • Pre-assembled and ready to install — Both shock absorbers arrive fully assembled and filled with high-quality 1300cSt silicone shock oil, allowing you to bolt them directly onto your vehicle without requiring any additional setup or tuning work.
  • Anodised aluminium construction — The shock bodies, caps and seal caps feature professional-grade anodised aluminium finishing, which provides excellent resistance to corrosion, impact damage and the wear that comes with regular RC use on British roads and terrain.
  • Strong 4mm stainless steel shock shafts — The hardened stainless steel shafts are precisely engineered to withstand the rigorous demands of high-speed running, jumps and aggressive driving whilst maintaining consistent damping performance over extended use.
  • Composite shock rod ends and spring retainers — Tough composite materials are used for the rod ends and spring retainers, offering an excellent balance of strength, weight savings and shock absorption properties that contribute to smooth handling characteristics.
  • EXB emulsion shock caps — These specialised caps deliver plush, progressive damping throughout the shock stroke, helping to absorb impacts smoothly and maintain wheel contact with the ground over rough terrain and obstacles.
  • Integrated shock boots — Protective rubber boots cover the shock shafts, preventing dirt, dust and water ingress that could otherwise damage internal seals and reduce the lifespan of the shocks.
  • Preload adjusters included — Fine-tune the ride height and handling characteristics of your RC vehicle by adjusting the shock preload, allowing you to optimise performance for different track conditions and driving styles.
  • Premium silicone shock oil — The included 1300cSt silicone oil is specifically formulated to provide consistent damping behaviour across a wide temperature range, essential for maintaining predictable handling whether racing in summer heat or winter conditions.

Technical Performance

These ARRMA shocks represent a significant engineering achievement in RC suspension design. The 16mm bore diameter combined with the 134mm length (measured centre to centre) creates a perfectly proportioned shock unit for 1/8 scale high-performance vehicles, delivering the ideal balance between ride height, bump absorption and bottoming resistance. The 8-hole piston configuration with 1.3mm holes has been precisely engineered to control oil flow through the shock, creating smooth, predictable damping curves that respond instantly to track changes and impact forces. The 4mm stainless steel shock shafts represent professional-grade engineering; their increased diameter compared to plastic alternatives significantly improves rigidity and resistance to bending under load, which is critical for maintaining accurate damping characteristics during aggressive driving or jumps. The anodised aluminium bodies provide not only superior aesthetics but also practical benefits including reduced weight compared to plastic alternatives and enhanced heat dissipation, allowing the shock oil to maintain optimal viscosity during extended running sessions. At 1300cSt, the included silicone shock oil is thicker than entry-level alternatives, providing more controlled damping that absorbs impacts effectively whilst still allowing adequate shaft movement for suspension travel. The EXB emulsion shock caps represent the pinnacle of damping technology, using an internal emulsion mechanism that gradually increases damping force as the shock compresses, creating a plush initial bite followed by progressive resistance that prevents harsh bottoming. This engineering approach delivers superior ride quality across varying terrain, from smooth carpet tracks to rugged outdoor venues across the UK. The spring specification of 0.97N/mm has been carefully selected to work harmoniously with the damping characteristics, creating a suspension system that responds predictably to driver input and environmental conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these shocks suitable for beginners, or are they designed for experienced RC drivers? — These shocks are suitable for any skill level. The fact that they arrive fully assembled and pre-filled means beginners can install them directly onto their vehicles without complex tuning work. However, the included tuning pistons and blank options mean experienced drivers have extensive customisation options to optimise performance for their specific driving style and terrain preferences.
  • What does the 1300cSt shock oil specification mean, and why does it matter? — The cSt (centistoke) measurement indicates the viscosity or thickness of the shock oil. At 1300cSt, this oil is considerably thicker than lighter alternatives, providing more controlled and progressive damping that absorbs impacts smoothly whilst still allowing sufficient suspension travel. This heavier oil is ideal for fast running and aggressive driving on varied terrain.
  • Can I adjust the damping characteristics of these shocks? — Yes, the shock set includes multiple piston options (blank pistons plus 1.2mm and 1.4mm hole variants). By swapping between these different piston configurations, you can adjust the damping rate to suit different track conditions, driving styles or vehicle setups, allowing fine-tuning without purchasing additional shock units.
  • Which ARRMA vehicles are these shocks compatible with? — These shocks are designed as standard parts for the ARRMA 1/8 KRATON 6S V6 4X4 BLX Speed Monster Truck (available in orange, green, pink and blue variants) and the ARRMA 1/8 NOTORIOUS 6S V6 4X4 BLX Stunt Truck (available in black and blue variants). They are listed as optional parts for the ARA7618 1/7 FIRETEAM 6S 4X4 RTR and ARA106053 1/8 KRATON 6S 4X4 Roller.
  • Do I need any additional components to install these shocks on my vehicle? — The shocks themselves include everything needed for installation except springs and your vehicle itself. You'll need springs that match your vehicle's specifications (typically available separately from ARRMA) and basic tools for installation.
  • What is the advantage of the anodised aluminium construction? — Anodising creates a protective oxide layer on the aluminium surface that resists corrosion from water, salt and impact damage. This means your shocks will maintain their appearance and performance longevity, particularly important for UK-based drivers who encounter varied weather conditions throughout the year.
  • How do the EXB emulsion shock caps work? — The emulsion mechanism inside the caps creates progressive damping, meaning the shock starts with a plush, responsive feel when first compressed, then gradually increases resistance to prevent harsh bottoming. This dual-stage approach delivers superior ride quality and handling characteristics compared to fixed-rate damping.
  • Are shock boots really necessary, and what do they protect? — Yes, the included shock boots are important. They prevent dirt, sand, water and other debris from entering the shock body and contaminating the internal seals and oil. This contamination would reduce performance and lifespan, so the boots are a valuable protection that helps maintain damping consistency over time.
