This shock set comes fully assembled and ready to bolt onto your vehicle, eliminating the need for complex assembly procedures. The inclusion of high-quality silicone shock oil means you get genuine, race-proven damping fluid rather than generic alternatives. If you're upgrading an existing ARRMA RC vehicle or replacing damaged shocks, this set delivers the exact specifications needed for optimal suspension performance. The 117mm length suits mid-sized ARRMA models perfectly, whilst the 16mm bore diameter provides excellent shock stability and controlled compression.
ARRMA has engineered this shock set with multiple tuning options in mind, providing additional pistons for fine-tuning damping characteristics. This flexibility makes the set valuable whether you're a weekend basher enjoying casual off-road fun or a competitive racer optimising your setup for track performance. The comprehensive package includes everything needed for a professional shock replacement, with thoughtful additions like shock boots for shaft protection and spare tuning components for adjusting performance characteristics.
Key Features
- High-quality anodised aluminium shock bodies — The shock bodies are constructed from anodised aluminium, a material choice that provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio and superior corrosion resistance compared to standard steel. This means your shocks will maintain performance and appearance through repeated use in wet British weather conditions and demanding off-road environments.
- Strong 4mm stainless steel shock shafts — The shock shafts are manufactured from premium stainless steel at 4mm diameter, providing exceptional durability and resistance to bending or permanent deformation. Stainless steel resists corrosion far better than mild steel, ensuring long-lasting performance even after exposure to damp conditions typical of UK RC tracks and outdoor use.
- Anodised aluminium shock caps and seal caps — Both the shock caps and seal caps are anodised aluminium, protecting internal components whilst maintaining precise alignment. This construction detail prevents shock fluid leakage and extends the life of your damper system significantly.
- Preload adjusters included — The shocks feature adjustable preload capability, allowing you to fine-tune spring tension and ride height. This feature is essential for optimising handling characteristics on different surfaces, from smooth tarmac to loose gravel and muddy terrain.
- Tough composite shock rod ends and spring retainers — Rather than using metal-to-metal connections that can wear quickly, ARRMA employs composite materials for rod ends and spring retainers. These components absorb impact energy effectively whilst maintaining precise alignment, reducing wear on your vehicle's chassis.
- Supplied fully assembled and ready to fit — Unlike many aftermarket shocks requiring assembly, this set arrives completely assembled. You simply remove your old shocks and bolt these on, saving time and eliminating potential assembly errors that could compromise performance.
- Shock boots included for shaft protection — Each shock includes protective boots that shield the shock shaft from dirt, gravel and moisture. This simple but effective addition significantly extends shock life by preventing contamination of internal components and protecting the shaft from UV damage.
- EXB emulsion shock caps for plush damping — The EXB-specification emulsion shock caps provide smooth, progressive damping characteristics. Emulsion technology creates tiny air bubbles within the shock fluid, allowing for more responsive and controlled compression and rebound across varying driving speeds and conditions.
- 1300cSt silicone shock oil pre-filled — The shocks arrive filled with premium 1300 centistoke silicone shock oil, a viscosity specifically formulated for excellent damping performance. This high-quality oil ensures consistent performance across temperature ranges and resists degradation from UV exposure and thermal cycling.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Shock Set is engineered with precision specifications that deliver professional-level suspension performance for demanding RC driving. The 16mm internal bore diameter provides the perfect balance between damping response and shock travel, whilst the 117mm centre-to-centre length is specifically designed to fit ARRMA models in the 1/8 scale class, including the KRATON 6S family and similar platforms. The shocks feature a 1.2mm piston with 8 tuning holes, a configuration that offers multiple damping options through piston selection—additional blank pistons and pre-drilled alternatives are supplied to allow fine-tuning of compression and rebound characteristics without needing to replace the entire shock assembly. The 1300cSt silicone oil specification is carefully chosen to provide optimal damping across the typical operating temperature range experienced during UK RC racing and recreational driving. The spring specification of 1.21N/mm rate ensures that the shocks maintain proper ride height whilst providing adequate support for cornering loads and impact absorption. Construction throughout emphasises durability: the 4mm stainless steel shafts resist corrosion and bending, the anodised aluminium bodies provide lightweight strength, and the composite rod ends distribute loads effectively to minimise wear. This combination of engineering choices results in suspension that handles both high-speed running and technical low-speed manoeuvres with equal competence, making these shocks suitable for diverse driving styles and conditions across the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which ARRMA RC vehicles are compatible with the Shock Set Z-ARA-1510? — This shock set is specifically designed for 1/8 scale ARRMA models, with confirmed compatibility including the KRATON 6S 4X4 in all variants (V5, V6, EXB), NOTORIOUS 6S 4X4, and FIRETEAM 6S 4X4 RTR brushless buggies and trucks. The 117mm length and 16mm bore make these shocks ideal for mid-sized ARRMA platforms. Always verify your specific model number against ARRMA's official compatibility list before ordering.
- What does the 1300cSt silicone oil specification mean for damping performance? — The cSt (centistoke) measurement indicates oil viscosity or thickness. 1300cSt is a medium-weight oil that provides good damping without being so thick that it restricts shock movement or requires excessive force to compress. This viscosity works well across typical UK driving temperatures and conditions, offering responsive damping for both gentle handling and aggressive driving.
- Can I adjust the damping by changing pistons, and what difference does this make? — Yes—ARRMA provides multiple piston options with different hole configurations. The 1.2mm piston with 8 holes is your baseline setup. The supplied 1.4mm and 1.3mm alternatives allow you to experiment with faster or slower rebound characteristics. Larger holes permit oil to flow more freely, reducing damping and making the shock feel softer; smaller holes increase resistance and create firmer damping. This tuning approach allows you to optimise handling without replacing entire shocks.
- Are these shocks suitable for high-speed running and also for technical crawling? — The EXB emulsion shock cap technology provides progressive damping that performs well across different driving speeds. The supplied 1300cSt oil and standard piston configuration offer a balanced setup suitable for mixed-use driving, from high-speed bashing to technical manoeuvres. However, if you primarily do one style of driving, using alternative pistons can optimise performance further.
- What is the difference between these shocks and cheaper alternatives? — ARRMA shocks feature anodised aluminium construction, stainless steel shafts, and premium emulsion damping technology—elements that significantly extend lifespan and maintain consistent performance. Cheaper alternatives often use painted steel bodies that corrode, standard oil that degrades faster, and simpler damping designs. The pre-filled silicone oil and comprehensive spare piston selection represent excellent value compared to purchasing components separately.
- Will shock boots really make a noticeable difference in durability? — Yes—the included shock boots protect the shaft from dirt ingestion, UV damage, and moisture intrusion. Unprotected shafts gradually accumulate dirt particles that increase friction and can cause seals to fail prematurely. Boots are a simple but highly effective durability enhancement, particularly valuable in the varied UK climate with frequent moisture exposure.
- Can I use different weight shock oils with these shocks? — Yes, you can purchase alternative viscosity oils from ARRMA or other RC brands to fine-tune damping independently of piston selection. Thicker oil (higher cSt rating) creates firmer damping; lighter oil creates softer damping. However, always drain existing oil completely before refilling to avoid oil degradation and mixing incompatible formulations.
