Overview

The ARRMA Pinion Gear 29T MOD 0.5 CNC 3.2mm Bore is a precision-engineered replacement transmission component designed for ARRMA's 1/16 and 1/14 scale brushless RC models. This hardened steel pinion gear is manufactured using advanced CNC machining techniques to deliver exceptional performance and durability in the demanding world of RC car racing and bashing. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor pushing your 1/16 Mini Kraton or 1/14 Typhon GROM to its limits, or an enthusiast maintaining your brushless RC buggy or desert truck, this pinion gear provides the reliability and precision you need to keep your RC vehicle running smoothly.

As a critical component of your RC car's drivetrain, the pinion gear meshes with the spur gear to transfer power from your brushless motor to the wheels. The 29-tooth configuration offers a specific gear ratio that balances acceleration and top speed, making it ideal for tuning your RC vehicle's performance characteristics. This replacement gear is compatible with multiple ARRMA models including the Mini Kraton 3S, Mojave GROM, and Typhon GROM, all featuring the latest 223S brushless ESC technology. If you're looking to upgrade, replace a worn gear, or fine-tune your RC truck's gearing setup, this CNC-machined pinion gear is an essential upgrade for any dedicated RC hobbyist in the UK.

Built to withstand the extreme stresses of high-speed running and aggressive driving, this ARRMA pinion gear represents the quality and performance standards you expect from an official manufacturer component. The 3.2mm bore ensures perfect fitment on ARRMA brushless motor shafts, while the MOD 0.5 pitch guarantees smooth engagement with compatible spur gears. Whether you're replacing a damaged gear after a hard bash session or optimising your RC vehicle's performance for competitive racing, this precision-made pinion gear is the genuine ARRMA choice for reliability and value.

Key Features

  • CNC Precision Manufacturing — This pinion gear is produced using computer numerical control machining, which ensures exceptionally accurate tooth profiles and dimensions, resulting in smooth, quiet operation and minimal wear on your RC vehicle's transmission system over extended running sessions.
  • Hardened Steel Construction — The gear is manufactured from tough, hardened steel that provides excellent strength and durability, enabling it to withstand the extreme torque and impact forces generated by powerful brushless motors and aggressive driving conditions without stripping or breaking.
  • MOD 0.5 Pitch System — This gear operates on the MOD 0.5 (Modulus 0.5) standard, which is the industry-standard pitch specification for ARRMA's transmission systems, ensuring perfect mesh compatibility with matching spur gears and smooth power transfer across your RC car's drivetrain.
  • 3.2mm Motor Shaft Bore — The precisely-sized 3.2mm bore diameter is engineered for direct mounting onto ARRMA brushless motor shafts, providing a secure, wobble-free fit that maintains perfect alignment and prevents slippage under load.
  • 29-Tooth Gear Ratio — The 29-tooth design provides a carefully balanced gear ratio that offers excellent performance characteristics for both speed and acceleration, making it suitable for a wide range of driving styles and terrain types across RC buggies, trucks and desert runners.
  • Includes M3 Set Screw — Each pinion gear comes supplied with a precision M3 × 4mm set screw specifically engineered to secure the gear firmly to your motor shaft, preventing rotation and ensuring consistent power delivery during high-speed runs.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Pinion Gear 29T MOD 0.5 CNC 3.2mm Bore represents professional-grade transmission engineering optimised for ARRMA's brushless RC platform. Manufactured using CNC precision machining, this hardened steel gear delivers smooth, efficient power transmission from your brushless motor to the wheels, with accurate tooth profiles that minimise backlash and wear whilst maximising durability under extreme RC driving conditions. The MOD 0.5 pitch standard ensures perfect mesh engagement with compatible spur gears found across ARRMA's 1/16 Mini Kraton 3S, 1/16 Mojave GROM, and 1/14 Typhon GROM models, all of which feature advanced brushless motor and 223S ESC technology. The 29-tooth configuration provides optimal gearing balance for 3S LiPo-powered brushless RC vehicles, offering both strong acceleration and healthy top-end speed without compromising transmission efficiency or motor longevity. Weighing minimally whilst providing maximum strength, this CNC-machined component is engineered to handle the sustained high-torque outputs of modern brushless motors, making it an essential replacement or upgrade component for any serious RC enthusiast running competitive or bashing-focused setups on UK tracks and terrain.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ARRMA RC models is this 29T pinion gear compatible with? — This pinion gear is compatible with multiple ARRMA brushless RC vehicles including the 1/16 Mini Kraton 3S (both battery and charger included versions, available in blue and red), 1/16 Mojave GROM 223S BLX 4×4 (available with or without battery and charger in black, white and teal variants), and the 1/14 Typhon GROM 223S BLX 4×4 brushless buggy (available with or without battery and charger in red, silver and blue colours). These models feature the latest 223S brushless ESC technology and are designed for high-performance running with 3S LiPo battery systems.
  • Why would I need to replace or upgrade my pinion gear? — You may need to replace your pinion gear if it becomes damaged, stripped or worn from extended use, or you may wish to upgrade to a different tooth count to adjust your RC vehicle's gearing ratio and alter its performance characteristics. The 29-tooth configuration balances acceleration and top speed, but other tooth counts offer different performance tuning options depending on your driving style and terrain preferences.
  • Is this CNC-machined pinion gear better than standard gears? — Yes, CNC-precision manufacturing produces pinion gears with exceptionally accurate tooth profiles and dimensions compared to conventionally manufactured gears, resulting in smoother operation, reduced wear, quieter running, and improved overall transmission efficiency and reliability during high-speed and high-torque RC driving sessions.
  • What is MOD 0.5 pitch and why does it matter? — MOD 0.5 (Modulus 0.5) is the industry-standard pitch specification used throughout ARRMA's transmission systems. This specification determines the gear tooth size and spacing, and using gears with matching pitch ensures perfect mesh engagement, smooth power transfer and minimal backlash within your RC vehicle's drivetrain, preventing slippage and ensuring reliable performance.
  • Does this pinion gear come with everything I need to install it? — Yes, this pinion gear includes the necessary M3 × 4mm set screw required to secure the gear to your ARRMA brushless motor shaft. Simply remove your old gear, slide on the new 29T pinion gear, tighten the set screw, and you're ready to return to high-speed running with restored or optimised transmission performance.
  • Can I use different tooth counts for performance tuning? — Yes, ARRMA produces several pinion gear options with different tooth counts (including 28T, 29T, 30T and 31T configurations) that allow you to adjust your RC vehicle's gear ratio and fine-tune its performance. Lower tooth counts increase top speed but reduce acceleration, whilst higher tooth counts provide stronger acceleration but lower maximum speed, allowing you to optimise your RC car for your preferred driving style and track conditions.
