As a direct OEM replacement part, the ARRMA Pinion Gear 16T delivers the same level of quality and engineering excellence that ARRMA is renowned for across their entire range of brushless RC vehicles. The 16T tooth configuration offers a specific gear ratio that affects your vehicle's top speed and acceleration characteristics, making it an important tuning component for optimising your RC buggy or truck's performance. Whether you're replacing a worn gear or experimenting with different gearing options to find your ideal setup, this pinion gear is manufactured to exacting standards to ensure reliable operation in extreme RC conditions.
ARRMA's reputation for producing durable, high-performance ready to run RC buggies and trucks makes their genuine replacement parts the logical choice for maintaining your investment. This MOD 0.5 pinion gear integrates perfectly with ARRMA's transmission systems, offering the precision fit and reliable performance you expect from an authorised manufacturer component.
Key Features
- CNC Precision Manufacturing — This pinion gear is manufactured using Computer Numerical Control machining, ensuring exact tolerances and consistent quality across every tooth profile, which translates to smoother, more reliable power transmission from your motor to the main drive gears.
- Hardened Steel Construction — The tough, durable steel material provides exceptional resistance to wear and damage, making this pinion gear ideal for the demanding demands of extreme RC bashing, racing, and competitive driving where reliability is non-negotiable.
- MOD 0.5 Gear Pitch — This standardised gear pitch specification ensures compatibility with ARRMA's transmission systems and provides a specific mechanical advantage within the drivetrain, affecting acceleration and top speed characteristics of your vehicle.
- Precision Tooth Profile — Each tooth has been manufactured with precision accuracy, ensuring smooth engagement with your spur gear and minimising backlash for optimal power delivery and efficient operation during demanding driving conditions.
- 3.2mm Motor Shaft Bore — The 3.2mm bore diameter is specifically sized to fit ARRMA's brushless motor shafts, providing a secure connection that prevents slippage and ensures positive power transfer without unnecessary wear on the motor shaft.
- Included Set Screw — Each package includes an M3 x 4mm set screw that securely locks the pinion gear onto your motor shaft, preventing unwanted movement and ensuring consistent performance throughout your driving sessions.
- Precision Set Screw Hole — The set screw hole has been carefully engineered to accept the included fastener with exact tolerances, ensuring a positive grip that maintains alignment and prevents gear creep during aggressive acceleration or high-speed driving.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Pinion Gear 16T MOD 0.5 represents the pinnacle of precision gear manufacturing for compact 1/16 scale brushless RC vehicles. The 16-tooth configuration is a critical component of your vehicle's overall gear ratio equation, working in conjunction with your spur gear to determine acceleration response, top speed capability, and overall power delivery characteristics. The MOD 0.5 specification indicates the module (pitch) of the gear teeth, which must match perfectly with your spur gear for optimal mesh and minimal noise. The CNC manufacturing process ensures that every tooth profile is identical, eliminating the inconsistencies found in lower-quality gears and providing the smooth, reliable operation that competitive RC enthusiasts demand. The hardened steel material withstands the enormous forces generated during high-speed runs, aggressive cornering, and full-throttle acceleration without degrading, chipping, or wearing prematurely. This makes the ARRMA Pinion Gear 16T an investment in your vehicle's longevity and performance consistency. The precision 3.2mm bore diameter matches ARRMA's brushless motor shafts perfectly, and the included M3 x 4mm set screw provides a secure mounting solution that prevents slippage and maintains alignment even under extreme driving conditions. For RC car UK enthusiasts running ARRMA's 1/16 Mini Kraton 3S, Mojave Grom, or Typhon Grom models, this is a genuine OEM part that ensures compatibility and performance that third-party alternatives cannot match.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 16T and other tooth counts like 18T or 15T? — The tooth count determines your vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. A lower tooth count (15T) results in higher top speed but slower acceleration, whilst a higher tooth count (18T or 20T) provides quicker acceleration but lower top speed. The 16T is a balanced middle option suitable for general driving. Choosing the right pinion tooth count allows you to tune your brushless RC buggy or truck to match your driving style and terrain.
- Is this compatible with my ARRMA RC vehicle? — This pinion gear is a genuine OEM ARRMA part and is compatible with the 1/16 Mini Kraton 3S, 1/16 Mojave Grom 223S, and 1/14 Typhon Grom 223S models. Check your vehicle's model number to confirm compatibility before purchasing. The 3.2mm bore is standard for ARRMA's brushless motor shafts on these compact vehicles.
- Do I need any special tools to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires basic RC tools including a small hex wrench or Allen key to tighten the M3 x 4mm set screw. The set screw should be tightened securely but not over-tightened, as this can strip the threads in the motor shaft. A small flat-head screwdriver may also be useful for removing the old pinion gear.
- What is MOD 0.5 and why does it matter? — MOD (Module) is a gear specification that indicates the pitch and tooth profile of the gear. MOD 0.5 must match your spur gear for proper mesh and operation. Using a mismatched modulus will result in poor engagement, increased noise, excessive wear, and potential gear failure. Always ensure your replacement pinion gear matches the MOD specification of your existing transmission.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — Under normal driving conditions, a quality steel pinion gear can last many driving sessions before requiring replacement. However, regular inspection is recommended, especially if you notice noise, vibration, or performance changes. If you drive competitively or very aggressively, inspect your pinion gear more frequently for signs of wear, chipping, or damage.
- Will this work with my brushless motor? — Yes, this pinion gear is designed for ARRMA's brushless motor systems with a 3.2mm shaft diameter. The MOD 0.5 pitch ensures compatibility with ARRMA's spur gears. Ensure your motor shaft diameter is exactly 3.2mm before purchasing.
