Overview
The PRO 1/8 Sector Clear Body for Mugen MBX8/MBX8R is a precision-engineered polycarbonate bodyshell designed specifically for serious RC buggy enthusiasts and competitive racers in the UK. This is the perfect upgrade for anyone running a Mugen MBX8 or MBX8R chassis who wants to optimise their buggy's handling characteristics and track performance. Pro-Line Racing, a leading manufacturer in the RC hobby industry, has created the Sector body with a ground-up redesign that prioritises handling performance in demanding track conditions, making it an excellent choice for both experienced competitors and dedicated hobbyists looking to shave crucial seconds off their lap times.
What sets the Sector Clear Body apart from other RC bodyshells is its intelligent engineering approach to chassis dynamics. The low-slung design features a laid-back windshield and extended centre fin that work together to enhance stability and side bite, contributing to more predictable and faster cornering. The overall rake of the body is carefully calculated to deliver a planted yet drivable feel that keeps your buggy balanced through technical sections whilst remaining responsive to driver inputs. Whether you're racing at your local track or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, this clear body provides the aerodynamic benefits and fitment precision that discerning RC car UK enthusiasts demand.
This product is sold as a completely clear and unpainted polycarbonate body, allowing you to personalise it with your own paint scheme and graphics. The body comes pre-fitted with a paint-then-peel overspray film built directly into the design, making the preparation and painting process straightforward and professional. Please note that no vehicle chassis is included with this product—you'll need your own Mugen MBX8 or MBX8R to complete your setup.
Key Features
- Low-Slung Design with Enhanced Drivability — The body's reduced overall height brings the centre of gravity lower, improving weight distribution and making your buggy more responsive to steering inputs whilst maintaining stability through corners and over rough terrain.
- Optimised for Stability and Side Bite — The extended centre fin and laid-back windshield work together to increase aerodynamic downforce, keeping your tyres planted on the track surface for improved grip and faster cornering speeds.
- Designed to Fit Mugen MBX8/MBX8R Perfectly — This body is engineered specifically for these Mugen chassis models, ensuring precise alignment with all mounting points and clearances around critical components including the gearbox, chassis, and bulkhead.
- Crystal Clear Polycarbonate Construction — Made from premium polycarbonate material, this body provides excellent durability and optical clarity, allowing full visibility of your chassis components while offering superior impact resistance compared to thinner alternatives.
- Paint-Then-Peel Overspray Film Built-In — The integrated overspray film eliminates the need to purchase masking separately, protecting unpainted areas during the painting process and peeling away cleanly to reveal sharp, professional-looking graphics and decals.
- Made in the USA — Manufactured to Pro-Line Racing's exacting standards in the United States, ensuring consistent quality and attention to detail in every aspect of the body's design and construction.
- Complete Accessory Package Included — Every body comes with a Pro-Line decal sheet and window mask sheet, giving you everything needed to prepare and customise your shell for racing.
- Battery Clearance Consideration — The body design provides optimal fitment with batteries up to 40mm in height, ensuring compatibility with most popular LiPo battery packs without fitment issues.
Technical Performance
The Sector Clear Body represents Pro-Line Racing's commitment to performance-focused design engineering. Constructed from crystal clear polycarbonate, the body provides both aesthetic appeal and practical durability for competitive racing environments. The engineering philosophy behind the Sector emphasises the relationship between body aerodynamics and chassis handling characteristics—the low-slung profile works synergistically with the long centre fin and laid-back windshield to create a chassis that feels planted and predictable whilst remaining agile and responsive to driver inputs. This balance is crucial in competitive 1/8-scale buggy racing, where fractions of a second across an entire race distance can determine winners and losers. The body has been carefully designed to provide adequate clearance around the gearbox, chassis frame, and front bulkhead, eliminating fitment issues that plague poorly engineered bodyshells. For UK RC enthusiasts and racers, this level of engineering precision is what separates purpose-built race components from generic alternatives. The body works optimally with battery packs up to 40mm tall, covering the vast majority of modern LiPo configurations used in 1/8-scale buggy racing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this bodyshell suitable for beginners, or is it only for experienced racers? — The Sector body can be used by anyone running a Mugen MBX8 or MBX8R, regardless of experience level. However, the design benefits (lower centre of gravity, improved side bite) are most appreciated by drivers with solid vehicle control skills who can exploit the body's handling characteristics. Beginners will find the body performs well, but the performance advantages will be more obvious to intermediate and advanced drivers.
- What makes the Sector body different from other Pro-Line 1/8-scale buggy shells? — The Sector features a ground-up redesign specifically optimised for handling performance in challenging track conditions. The combination of low-slung design, laid-back windshield, and extended centre fin creates a unique aerodynamic profile that emphasises stability and predictable handling. Other Pro-Line bodies may prioritise different characteristics, such as speed or aggressive styling.
- Does this body come painted, or do I need to paint it myself? — The body is sold as a completely clear polycarbonate shell with no paint applied. This allows you to customise the colour scheme to match your personal preference or team colours. The included overspray film protects masking areas during painting, making the process straightforward for both first-time painters and experienced modellers.
- Is the window mask sheet included, or do I need to buy it separately? — The window mask sheet is included in the box, so you don't need to purchase masking materials separately. This speeds up the preparation process and reduces the overall cost of getting your body race-ready.
- What are the battery height restrictions, and why does the body have a 40mm limit? — The body is designed to fit with batteries up to 40mm in height to ensure proper clearance and optimal aerodynamic performance. Battery packs taller than 40mm may contact the body shell or create fitment issues that could compromise handling. Most modern LiPo batteries used in 1/8-scale racing fall well within this specification.
- Can I use this body on other Mugen chassis models, or is it MBX8/MBX8R exclusive? — This body is specifically engineered for the Mugen MBX8 and MBX8R platforms. Using it on other chassis models may result in poor fitment, misalignment with mounting points, or inadequate clearance around critical components. For optimal performance and safety, only use this body with MBX8 or MBX8R chassis.
- How durable is polycarbonate, and how does it compare to other body materials? — Polycarbonate is a premium body material offering excellent impact resistance and durability compared to thinner plastic alternatives. It provides superior optical clarity, allowing you to see chassis components whilst maintaining structural integrity during crashes and collisions. Pro-Line uses high-quality polycarbonate in their racing shells, making them suitable for serious competitors.
- Do I need any special tools or equipment to paint this body? — Painting a polycarbonate RC bodyshell requires standard hobby supplies: masking tape, polycarbonate-specific paint or lexan paint, and optional airbrush or spray can application equipment. The included window mask and overspray film eliminate the need for additional masking purchases. Always ensure adequate ventilation and follow paint manufacturer safety instructions.
