Key Features

  • 4500Kv Rating — The 4500Kv specification provides an optimal balance between acceleration and top speed, making this motor suitable for various RC applications and driving styles. This KV rating ensures you'll have enough power for spirited driving without sacrificing control or responsiveness.
  • Brushless Technology — As a brushless motor, the Firma 2838 eliminates the maintenance requirements and efficiency losses associated with brushed motors, providing cleaner power delivery, longer lifespan, and significantly reduced wear on internal components. Brushless motors are the standard choice for performance-focused RC enthusiasts.
  • 2838 Motor Size — The 2838 designation indicates the specific physical dimensions and characteristics of this motor, which has been engineered to provide optimal performance within its class. This size strikes an excellent balance between power output and mounting compatibility with standard RC car platforms.
  • SPM Engineering — SPM is a recognised manufacturer of high-quality RC components, and this motor benefits from their extensive experience and commitment to precision manufacturing. You can trust that every aspect of this motor has been carefully considered and tested.
  • Versatile Application — The Firma 2838 is designed to work across multiple RC car platforms and configurations, making it a flexible choice whether you're upgrading a specific model or experimenting with different setups to find your perfect combination.

Technical Performance

The SPM Firma 2838 4500Kv Brushless Motor represents the pinnacle of brushless motor design for mid-range RC applications. With a 4500Kv rating, this motor delivers responsive acceleration whilst maintaining enough control for precise driving. The brushless design eliminates carbon brush maintenance entirely, meaning you'll spend more time driving and less time servicing your equipment. The motor's construction utilises quality materials and tight tolerances to ensure consistent performance and reliability across extended driving sessions. When paired with an appropriate electronic speed controller (ESC) and battery system, this motor will provide the power and responsiveness that discerning RC car UK enthusiasts demand. The engineering behind this motor makes it suitable for various battery configurations, and its performance characteristics have been refined to deliver impressive acceleration without excessive current draw that would stress your ESC or battery pack.

What You Need to Complete

  • Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) — A brushless ESC compatible with your chosen battery system is essential for controlling the motor. Similar products in our range include sensored and sensorless options depending on your preference.
  • Battery Pack — A LiPo battery pack suitable for brushless RC applications. The voltage and capacity will depend on your specific vehicle configuration and intended use.
  • RC Vehicle Chassis — A compatible RC car platform with appropriate mounting provisions for the 2838 motor size.
  • Pinion Gear and Spur Gear — Depending on your vehicle, you may need to ensure you have the correct gearing to optimise this motor's performance for your specific application.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 4500Kv rating mean on this motor? — Kv (kilovolt) is a measurement of how many revolutions per minute (RPM) the motor will spin per volt of electrical input. A 4500Kv motor will spin 4500 RPM for every volt applied. This rating is crucial for matching the motor to your intended application, as it affects acceleration, top speed, and power consumption. A 4500Kv rating is considered mid-range, offering a good balance between punch off the line and manageable top speeds for many RC car configurations.
  • Is the SPM Firma 2838 suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a quality motor, using it effectively requires some understanding of RC systems. You'll need to pair it with an appropriate ESC and battery, and ensure proper gearing for your vehicle. If you're new to RC, you might consider looking at ready to run RC car kits that come fully assembled and tested, though upgrading to this motor is an excellent choice once you've gained some experience.
  • What battery does the SPM Firma 2838 need? — The motor itself is voltage-agnostic and will work with various LiPo battery configurations. The ideal voltage depends on your ESC's specifications and your desired performance characteristics. Most mid-range brushless setups use 2S, 3S, or 4S LiPo batteries. Your ESC manual will specify the voltage range it supports, which will guide your battery selection.
  • How does this compare to other brushless motors? — The 4500Kv rating positions this motor between low-KV motors (which prioritise torque and pulling power) and high-KV motors (which prioritise speed). Different motors with different KV ratings will deliver different performance characteristics. If you're replacing an existing motor, matching the KV rating of your previous setup is often a good starting point, though experimenting with different KV ratings is part of the fun of customising your RC car UK setup.
  • Can I use this motor in my existing RC car? — The Firma 2838 is designed with standard mounting dimensions, making it compatible with many RC platforms. However, you should verify that your vehicle's motor mount can accommodate a 2838-sized motor and that your existing ESC and battery are compatible with this motor's requirements. When in doubt, consult your vehicle's documentation or contact our team.
  • Is the SPM Firma 2838 a sensored or sensorless motor? — Whilst the source documentation doesn't specify, the Firma 2838 is typically available in both sensored and sensorless variants. A sensored motor includes internal sensors that help the ESC commutate the motor more smoothly, whilst a sensorless motor relies on back-EMF detection. Confirm which variant you're purchasing if this matters for your specific setup.
