Specially engineered for beginners and intermediate modellers, this compact and versatile speed controller is perfect for practice and daily training with 1/10th and 1/12th scale touring cars, buggies, F1 vehicles, drift cars, and rock crawlers. The dual sensored/sensorless drive mode allows you to run compatible brushless motors in either configuration, giving you two distinctly different control feels to suit your preference and driving style. With its compact design of just 43 × 36.8 × 32.3mm, the QuicRun 10BL120 G2 fits neatly into various chassis setups, making it the ideal choice for anyone seeking a reliable, feature-rich ESC without unnecessary complexity.

Hobbywing has combined cutting-edge hardware with proven firmware to deliver a robust platform that provides comprehensive multi-level protection while maintaining exceptional durability and reliability. The SET button on the ESC allows you to easily program or factory reset the unit with ease, and multiple programming methods are supported including LED programming boxes, LCD programming boxes (Pro and standard versions), and direct on-board button tuning—giving you complete flexibility in how you configure your RC car UK setup.

Key Features

  • Dual Sensored/Sensorless Drive Mode — This ESC supports both sensored and sensorless brushless motor operation, making it compatible with a wide range of brushless motors and allowing you to choose the control feel that best suits your driving preferences and racing style.
  • Upgraded BEC System with Enhanced Power Output — The integrated battery elimination circuit (BEC) has been upgraded to deliver 4A continuous output current (with a maximum burst of 7A) and features switchable 6V or 7.4V output voltage, allowing you to power high-voltage servo systems with greater control and headroom.
  • Adjustable Electronic Timing with Boost and Turbo Modes — The QuicRun 10BL120 G2 features up to 32 degrees of adjustable electronic timing, with Boost and Turbo modes that allow you to fine-tune power delivery and extract maximum performance from your setup (note: these modes are limited to 2S batteries to prevent damage).
  • Compact Framed Design with Active Cooling — Measuring just 25 × 25 × 10mm, the integrated framed fan keeps the ESC cool during extended use, whilst the compact overall dimensions of 43 × 36.8 × 32.3mm allow installation in tight spaces across different chassis types.
  • Multiple Programming Methods for Complete Flexibility — Programme your ESC using the on-board SET button, LED programming box, or advanced LCD programming boxes (both standard and Pro versions), giving you the flexibility to adjust parameters using your preferred method.
  • Comprehensive Multi-Level Protection System — Built-in protection functions include battery low voltage detection, ESC overheat protection, throttle signal loss protection, and overload protection, ensuring your equipment stays safe during use.
  • Adjustable Motor Rotation Direction — Motor rotation is selectable between clockwise (CW) and counter-clockwise (CCW), allowing you to adapt the ESC to different chassis configurations and mounting orientations without additional hardware.
  • Firmware Upgrade Support — The ESC supports firmware updates when used with the Multifunction LCD Programming Box Pro, ensuring you always have access to the latest features and improvements from Hobbywing.
  • Heavy-Duty Wiring and Connectors — Supplied with high-capacity 12AWG wiring in black and red for battery input (200mm length) and blue, yellow, and orange for motor output (200mm length), providing reliable power distribution without voltage drop.

Technical Performance

The QuicRun 10BL120 G2 represents the pinnacle of entry-to-intermediate level ESC design, delivering 120A continuous current with an impressive 760A peak current rating—making it powerful enough for serious competitive racing whilst remaining accessible to hobbyists. Built on Hobbywing's proven platform, the ESC combines top-tier hardware with sophisticated firmware to create a robust and reliable solution. The voltage range of 5-8.4V supports both 2S and 3S LiPo battery configurations, with motor compatibility starting at 4.5T for 2S systems and 10.5T for 3S systems using standard 3650-size brushless motors. The BEC's switch-mode design ensures efficient power conversion with minimal heat generation, whilst the 6V/7.4V adjustable output at 4A continuous (7A peak) provides ample power for modern high-torque servos. The compact framed fan design, measuring 25 × 25 × 10mm, provides active cooling to maintain optimal operating temperatures during extended driving sessions. Weighing just 101.5 grammes (including wires and connectors), the QuicRun 10BL120 G2 adds minimal weight to your RC car whilst maximising performance. The engineering is focused on reliability with multi-layer protection against battery under-voltage, thermal overload, signal loss, and mechanical overload—critical safeguards for protecting your investment in brushless RC car UK systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Hobbywing QuicRun 10BL120 G2 suitable for beginners learning to drive RC cars? — Yes, absolutely. This ESC was specifically designed with beginners and intermediate modellers in mind. The straightforward programming via the on-board SET button makes initial setup very simple, whilst the comprehensive protection systems keep your equipment safe as you learn. The dual sensored/sensorless modes also give you flexibility to find the control feel that suits you best.
  • What battery does the QuicRun 10BL120 G2 need, and what's the voltage range? — The ESC supports 2S and 3S LiPo batteries, operating in the voltage range of 5-8.4V. For 2S systems, use motors rated 4.5T or higher; for 3S systems, use motors rated 10.5T or higher. The ESC handles both configurations safely with built-in low voltage protection to prevent over-discharging your battery.
  • Can I use high-torque servos with the QuicRun 10BL120 G2? — Yes, the upgraded BEC system delivers 4A continuous output (7A peak) at selectable 6V or 7.4V, which is sufficient for high-voltage, high-torque servo systems currently available on the market. This is a significant improvement over earlier versions and gives you genuine servo control headroom.
  • How do I programme the QuicRun 10BL120 G2? — You have multiple options: use the on-board SET button for basic configuration, pair it with an LED Programming Box for more detailed tuning, or use the Multifunction LCD Programming Box or LCD Programming Box Pro for comprehensive parameter adjustment and firmware updates. This flexibility means you can start simple and upgrade your programming tools as your needs evolve.
  • What protection systems does this ESC include? — The QuicRun 10BL120 G2 includes battery low voltage protection to prevent over-discharging, ESC overheat protection to shut down if temperatures become unsafe, throttle signal loss protection to cut power if radio contact is lost, and overload protection against mechanical jamming or excessive current draw.
  • Is the QuicRun 10BL120 G2 waterproof? — No, this ESC is not waterproof. It should be protected from water and moisture during use. If you need a waterproof ESC for water-crossings or wet conditions, you'll need to look at a different model in the Hobbywing range.
  • What makes the QuicRun 10BL120 G2 better than the original version? — The G2 upgrades include an enhanced BEC system with increased output current (4A continuous vs 3A previously), adjustable Boost and Turbo electronic timing modes for fine-tuned power delivery, improved firmware, and better overall durability. These upgrades make it more capable whilst maintaining the proven reliability of the original.
  • Can I upgrade the firmware on my QuicRun 10BL120 G2? — Yes, firmware upgrades are supported when you use the Multifunction LCD Programming Box Pro. This ensures you always have access to the latest improvements and features from Hobbywing as they're released.
  • What wiring does the QuicRun 10BL120 G2 come with? — The ESC includes high-capacity 12AWG wiring: black and red wires (200mm each) for battery input, and blue, yellow, and orange wires (200mm each) for motor output. The wires are heavy-gauge to minimise voltage drop at high currents. No connectors are pre-installed, allowing you to solder on the connectors of your choice.
