The complete assembly of included accessories means you're not hunting across multiple suppliers; everything you need for a finished look comes in one package.
Key Features
- Clear polycarbonate construction — The body is manufactured from durable clear polycarbonate material that provides excellent impact resistance whilst remaining transparent, allowing you to apply your chosen paint colour directly onto the shell for a premium finish that showcases the quality of your paintwork.
- Fully trimmed and ready to paint — Unlike bodies that require extensive trimming and preparation, this shell arrives pre-trimmed with all necessary openings already cut, dramatically reducing preparation time and allowing you to move straight to the painting stage of your project.
- Pre-applied overspray film protection — A protective overspray film is factory-applied to the body, shielding the interior surface from paint overspray and reducing cleanup requirements whilst maintaining the pristine condition of unpainted surfaces.
- Complete accessory package included — The kit includes a comprehensive array of moulded body accessories: a detailed grille, side mirrors, door handles, windshield wipers, spare tyre mount, and mounting hardware, eliminating the need to source these components separately and ensuring authentic detailing.
- Window masking and decals supplied — Professional-quality window masking is included to protect glass areas during painting, whilst factory decal sheets allow you to add authentic Ford Bronco graphics and branding to match genuine examples or create custom designs.
- Authentic 1979 Ford Bronco styling — This body faithfully reproduces the distinctive angular lines, proportions, and design cues of the classic 1979 Ford Bronco, making it instantly recognisable to enthusiasts and casual observers alike on the trail or at RC clubs across the UK.
- Fits 312 mm wheelbase platforms — The body is specifically engineered to fit TRX-4 chassis platforms with a 312 mm wheelbase, ensuring perfect fitment and alignment without modifications to either the body or chassis.
- Body posts and mounting hardware included — All necessary body posts and associated mounting hardware are provided in the box, allowing straightforward installation onto your chassis without hunting for additional components.
- Compatible with Traxxas ProGraphix paint system — Traxxas specifically recommends their ProGraphix paint range for best results, a professional-grade paint system designed to deliver show-quality finishes on polycarbonate bodies with minimal overspray and excellent colour depth.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Body, Ford Bronco (1979) is engineered as a precision-fit accessory for TRX-4 chassis platforms, representing the pinnacle of scale accuracy and build quality that Traxxas is recognised for throughout the RC community in the UK. The clear polycarbonate shell material is selected specifically for its impact resistance, clarity, and compatibility with automotive paints and specialist RC body paint systems. The 312 mm wheelbase fitment ensures perfect proportions and alignment with the iconic Ford Bronco silhouette, creating that distinctive stance and appearance that makes this vehicle immediately recognisable. The body arrives fully trimmed with all necessary apertures pre-cut—including window openings, mounting points, and body post holes—eliminating hours of precision cutting work that traditionally delays custom builds. The included overspray film protection means you can apply paint with confidence, knowing the unpainted interior surfaces remain pristine and protected from paint overspray and associated cleanup challenges. All moulded accessories—grille, mirrors, door handles, wipers, and spare tyre mount—are injection-moulded from durable plastic with realistic proportions and fine detail definition that brings the body to life visually. The construction methodology means this body works seamlessly with standard TRX-4 body mounting systems, requiring only the separate #8072 inner fender set to complete the exterior appearance. Weight is minimal, contributing negligibly to overall vehicle mass, which is an important consideration for trail crawler performance where reducing unsprung weight helps maintain traction and handling balance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between this clear body and a pre-painted Traxxas body? — This body arrives completely clear and untrimmed of paint, allowing you total creative freedom to choose your own colours, designs, and custom artwork. Pre-painted bodies come finished in a single colour scheme with less opportunity for customisation. The clear body approach is preferred by modellers who want to create truly unique vehicles or match specific Ford Bronco colour schemes and graphics packages. This body represents the ultimate blank canvas for custom trail crawler builders across the UK.
- Do I need any special paint for this polycarbonate body? — Traxxas specifically recommends their ProGraphix paint system for best results on polycarbonate bodies. This paint range is formulated specifically for RC polycarbonate shells, providing excellent colour depth, durability, and compatibility with the material. Standard automotive paints may not adhere properly or provide optimal results. ProGraphix paint is available separately and is the preferred choice of serious RC modellers in the UK.
- Will this body fit my existing TRX-4 chassis? — Yes, this body is designed to fit any TRX-4 platform with a 312 mm wheelbase. The fitment is precise and requires no modifications to either the body or chassis. Simply ensure you also obtain the separate #8072 inner fender set to complete the exterior appearance. Compatibility is guaranteed across all TRX-4 312 mm wheelbase platforms.
- How long does it take to paint and prepare this body? — Preparation time is minimal because the body arrives pre-trimmed with protective overspray film already applied. Simply mask off windows using the included masking sheets, apply your chosen Traxxas ProGraphix paint according to manufacturer instructions, and allow proper cure time. Most modellers report completion within 24-48 hours depending on paint drying times and number of colour coats applied. The pre-trimming saves substantial time compared to raw body shells.
- What makes the 1979 Ford Bronco such a popular RC body choice? — The 1979 Ford Bronco is an iconic vehicle with distinctive, angular styling that translates beautifully to RC scale. The boxy proportions, prominent grille, and characteristic stance create immediate visual impact and are instantly recognisable to both RC enthusiasts and casual observers. This particular generation represents the height of classic 4x4 design, making it a natural choice for trail crawler fans across the UK who appreciate scale authenticity and classic aesthetics.
- Is this body suitable for beginners? — This body is best suited to modellers with intermediate experience in painting and detailing. The painting process requires masking skills, paint application technique, and understanding of cure times. Beginners new to RC cars in the UK may prefer pre-painted body options initially, though painting a body is an excellent learning experience. The body construction itself is straightforward—mounting is simple using the included posts and hardware—but the finishing work requires care and attention to detail.
- Can I use spray paint from a hardware store on this body? — Standard hardware store spray paints are not recommended for polycarbonate RC bodies. These paints may not adhere properly, crack during flexing, or provide the colour depth and durability expected on an RC vehicle. Traxxas ProGraphix paint is specifically formulated for polycarbonate and is the recommended system. Using incorrect paint may result in poor appearance, durability issues, and wasted time and materials.
- What is included in the complete assembly? — The complete assembly includes the clear body shell, grille, side mirrors, door handles, windshield wipers, spare tyre mount, window masking, decals, body posts, and all mounting hardware. The only additional component required is the #8072 inner fender set. Everything else needed for assembly and finishing is included, making this a comprehensive solution for body replacement or new builds.
- How do I protect the painted finish once complete? — After painting and curing, many modellers apply a clear protective lacquer topcoat to protect the finish from UV damage, impacts, and general wear. This step is optional but recommended for longevity. Allow paint to cure fully (typically 24-48 hours) before applying any topcoat. The overspray film protection included on the body shell helps preserve the interior during initial painting work.
