Overview
The Associated Rival MT10 FT Steel CVA Kit - Rear AS25848 is a premium upgrade option designed specifically for owners of the Team Associated Rival MT10 short course truck who want to enhance their vehicle's durability and performance. This specialist upgrade kit replaces the standard plastic axle shafts with robust steel components, making it an ideal choice for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliability and longevity from their RC car upgrades. Whether you're a weekend basher, a competitive racer, or simply looking to extend the lifespan of your Rival MT10, this steel CVA kit delivers the quality and engineering you'd expect from Team Associated, one of the world's most respected RC manufacturers.
Upgrading to steel axle shafts is a smart investment for any RC car UK owner who regularly pushes their vehicle to its limits. The Rival MT10 is already renowned for its excellent handling and durability, but replacing the standard plastic components with this FT steel CVA kit takes performance to the next level. Steel construction provides superior strength and impact resistance compared to plastic, meaning your rear axle assembly can handle harder landings, more aggressive driving, and extended use without flexing, cracking, or breaking. This is particularly important for short course truck racing, where the combination of high speeds, rough terrain, and constant acceleration and braking puts significant stress on drivetrain components.
RC Model Shop stocks this genuine Team Associated part because we understand the needs of serious RC hobbyists across the UK. This is not a complete vehicle – it's a focused upgrade component designed for experienced users who already own a Rival MT10 and want to optimise specific aspects of their truck's performance and longevity. By choosing this steel upgrade, you're making a deliberate choice to invest in quality spares and upgrades that will keep your RC car running at its best for years to come.
Key Features
- FT Steel CVA Construction — The kit utilises FT (likely referring to Team Associated's engineering standard) steel components for the CVA (Constant Velocity Axle) assembly, providing significantly greater strength and durability compared to the standard plastic axle shafts that come with the Rival MT10, making it ideal for high-impact driving and competitive use.
- Rear Kit Application — This kit is specifically engineered for the rear axle assembly of the Rival MT10, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with your existing suspension geometry and drivetrain setup without requiring modifications to other vehicle components.
- Direct Plastic Replacement — The steel CVA kit is designed as a direct replacement for the standard plastic axle shafts, meaning installation is straightforward for users with basic mechanical knowledge and a standard set of RC tools, without needing to source additional parts or adapters.
- Enhanced Durability for Demanding Conditions — Steel construction means the axle assembly can withstand repeated impacts, aggressive cornering, high-speed runs across rough terrain, and the general wear and tear that comes with regular RC car use, reducing the frequency of breakages and replacements.
- Maintains Stock Geometry — This upgrade maintains the original suspension geometry and handling characteristics of the Rival MT10, so you benefit from improved durability without compromising the truck's renowned balance and control characteristics that make it such a popular short course truck.
- Genuine Team Associated Component — As an official Team Associated spare part (AS25848), this kit meets the manufacturer's quality standards and engineering specifications, ensuring compatibility and performance that matches the rest of your vehicle's components.
Technical Performance
The Associated Rival MT10 FT Steel CVA Kit - Rear represents a targeted performance upgrade that addresses one of the key wear points on high-performance RC short course trucks. Steel axle shafts offer substantially greater impact resistance and fatigue strength compared to the plastic components found in the stock configuration. The constant-velocity joint design ensures smooth power delivery to the rear wheels whilst accommodating the suspension travel and steering inputs that are inherent to short course truck racing. This is particularly important during aggressive cornering, when the rear suspension articulates significantly and the axles must flex and move with the suspension whilst maintaining constant-velocity transmission of power. The steel construction minimises flexing under load, which can lead to poor traction, handling inconsistency, and component failure in plastic systems. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK who participate in competitive racing or regularly drive in challenging conditions – such as off-road terrain, high-speed runs, or extensive bash sessions – this upgrade significantly extends component lifespan and reduces downtime caused by breakages. The engineering maintains compatibility with the Rival MT10's existing drivetrain, meaning no additional modifications or compatibility concerns arise from this upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What exactly is a CVA and why should I upgrade to steel on my Rival MT10? — CVA stands for Constant Velocity Axle, the shaft that transmits power from the transmission to the rear wheels. The plastic CVAs supplied with the Rival MT10 are adequate for casual use, but when you increase driving intensity – through racing, jumping, or aggressive terrain – plastic components can crack, flex excessively, or fail completely. Upgrading to this steel CVA kit eliminates these concerns by providing a significantly stronger component that handles impact and continuous stress far better than plastic, making it especially valuable if you're serious about RC car performance and longevity.
- Is this kit suitable for beginners or only for experienced RC users? — This is a focused upgrade component rather than a complete vehicle, so it's most appropriate for users who already own and are familiar with their Rival MT10. If you're new to RC cars, you'd be better served purchasing a ready-to-run RC car UK kit first. However, if you've owned your MT10 for a while and want to enhance its durability, this is a straightforward upgrade that intermediate users with basic mechanical knowledge can install themselves.
- Will this steel CVA kit fit my Rival MT10 without any modifications? — Yes, this is a genuine Team Associated spare part designed as a direct replacement for the standard plastic axle shafts in the Rival MT10. No modifications, adapters, or additional parts are required – it simply replaces the existing rear CVA assembly whilst maintaining the vehicle's original geometry and performance characteristics.
- How much difference will upgrading to steel make to my driving experience? — You won't necessarily notice a dramatic change in how the truck drives during normal use – the stock plastic CVAs work adequately for casual driving. However, you'll notice a substantial reduction in component failures, fewer broken parts requiring replacement, more consistent performance during aggressive driving, and better reliability during competitive racing sessions. If you regularly jump your truck, drive at high speeds, or bash in rough terrain, you'll appreciate the reduced downtime and fewer repairs needed.
- How do I know if my Rival MT10 needs this upgrade? — If you've experienced cracked or broken rear axle shafts, notice flexibility or inconsistency in how power is delivered to the rear wheels, or you're simply looking to preemptively strengthen your truck for more demanding use, this kit is an excellent investment. Many competitive Rival MT10 racers and experienced bashers run steel CVA kits as standard because the reliability improvement justifies the modest additional investment.
- What tools do I need to install this kit? — Installation requires a standard set of RC maintenance tools including hex drivers, screwdrivers, and possibly a small socket set. The exact tools depend on how your MT10 is configured, but no specialised equipment beyond what most RC enthusiasts already own is necessary. If you're unsure about installation, RC Model Shop can provide guidance or you might consult your MT10 instruction manual for detailed assembly procedures.
