This integrated power system combines a sensored brushless motor with a dedicated ESC in a compact, space-saving design that fits seamlessly into modern RC crawler platforms. Whether you're a seasoned RC enthusiast building a competition-grade SCX10 III or exploring the rewarding world of rock crawling for the first time, the Fusion SE delivers the precise control, reliability and performance that serious crawlers demand. Hobbywing's reputation as a global leader in brushless power systems is fully evident in this purpose-built crawler package, which brings professional-grade technology to the hobby at an accessible price point.

The Fusion SE is not just another brushless combo—it's a complete rethinking of what crawlers need from their power delivery. The integrated design eliminates the complexity of matching separate ESC and motor components, saving space in your chassis whilst maintaining full functionality and advanced features. At just 58mm in length, this unit is significantly more compact than traditional setups, allowing builders to optimise weight distribution and chassis layout in their RC crawlers. The carefully engineered electronics package operates at lower temperatures than conventional brushless systems, extending runtime and reducing the thermal stress on your vehicle during extended crawling sessions on demanding terrain.

Built specifically for the UK RC car market, the Fusion SE addresses a genuine need for reliable, weatherproof power in crawlers that are regularly pushed through mud, water and challenging outdoor conditions. The waterproof construction and durable materials ensure that this system will survive the punishment that enthusiastic crawlers subject their vehicles to week after week.

Key Features

  • FOC (Field-Oriented Control) Technology — The Fusion SE utilises proven FOC engineering that has revolutionised the crawling segment, delivering extreme efficiency and operating at lower temperatures than conventional brushless systems. This means your crawler will run cooler during extended sessions, extending battery runtime and reducing wear on components. The nearly silent operation provides amazing power and response across all speeds while maintaining exceptionally low RPM control—perfect for precise rock crawling where fine throttle control is essential.
  • Intelligent Torque Output Control — The built-in FOC ESC features a smart torque management system that automatically adjusts motor output and RPM to match your throttle input, ensuring unmatched performance whether you're climbing steep inclines or carefully descending technical terrain. This intelligent system adapts to changing loads and slope angles, giving you consistent, predictable control in real-world crawling conditions.
  • Advanced Drag Brake System — With 8 selectable levels of drag brake force combined with 9 levels of drag brake rate adjustment, you have unprecedented fine-tuning control over your vehicle's hill-holding power and general driving characteristics. The drag brake system can be up to 2 times stronger than conventional brushless setups, providing the holding power needed for steep descents and precise speed control on challenging terrain.
  • IP-67 Waterproof Protection — The Fusion SE is engineered to withstand the rigours of all-weather RC use, with an IP-67 waterproof rating that provides protection against water splash, dust ingress and the muddy conditions typical of outdoor crawling. Silicon rubber gaskets, electronic buttons and quality hardware construction ensure durability through repeated exposure to demanding environments. This level of protection means your investment in quality brushless RC power will continue performing reliably whether you're crawling in rain, mud or dust.
  • Integrated Compact Design — The combined motor and ESC package measures just 58mm in length, representing a significant reduction compared to traditional separate component setups. This compact form factor allows builders to create more balanced chassis designs and optimise vehicle geometry without sacrificing capability or performance.
  • Sensored Brushless Motor — The integrated 540-size sensored brushless motor delivers responsive, smooth power delivery across the entire throttle range. With a 1200KV specification, this motor is specifically optimised for 2-3S LiPo or 6-9 cell NiMH battery compatibility, providing flexibility in your power setup choices.
  • 40-Amp Continuous ESC Rating — The dedicated ESC can handle continuous current demands up to 40 amps, providing sufficient power headroom for demanding crawling situations whilst maintaining thermal stability and component longevity.
  • Professional-Grade Construction — Built with the quality standards expected from Hobbywing's competition heritage, every component is selected for durability and reliability. The Fusion SE is designed to withstand the repeated abuse that RC crawlers experience during bashful off-road use.

Technical Performance

The Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE for Crawler combines cutting-edge motor and ESC technology into a single integrated package measuring 36 x 58.1mm and weighing just 201 grams including wires and connectors. The sensored brushless motor features a 3.175mm shaft diameter with 16.5mm exposed shaft length, accommodating standard RC crawler spur and pinion gear arrangements. At 1200KV, this motor is specifically calibrated for optimal crawling performance with 2-3S LiPo (11.1V maximum) or 6-9 cell NiMH battery packs, making it compatible with virtually any modern RC crawler battery setup available in the UK market. The ESC's 40-amp continuous rating provides ample power headroom for sustained climbing and technical manoeuvres without thermal throttling. The four-pole motor design, combined with FOC speed control, delivers smooth, linear throttle response and extraordinary low-RPM torque characteristics essential for controlled rock crawling. The system connects via XT-60 connectors (with optional EC3, TRX, Deans, EC5, Tamiya, XT-90, IC5 and IC3 connector adapters available) and features independent programming via a dedicated interface. Every component has been engineered with thermal management in mind—the advanced FOC control algorithms and optimised windings ensure extended runtime by reducing heat generation compared to conventional brushless systems. This makes the Fusion SE ideal for marathon crawling sessions where component temperature can become a limiting factor on smaller, confined RC vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE suitable for beginner rock crawlers? — Yes, absolutely. While the Fusion SE is a professional-grade component, it is straightforward to install in compatible chassis and operates intuitively once configured. The intelligent torque output system actually makes the vehicle easier to control for less experienced drivers, as the ESC automatically adjusts power delivery to suit terrain conditions. Beginners will appreciate the simple XT-60 connector system and programmable drag brake feature, which allows you to dial in exactly the right amount of hill-holding power for your skill level and terrain type. If you're building your first rock crawler, the Fusion SE is an excellent investment that will grow with your skills.
  • What battery does the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE 1200KV require? — This unit is compatible with 2-3S LiPo (maximum 11.1V) or 6-9 cell NiMH batteries. Most modern RC crawler builders choose 3S LiPo packs for the excellent power-to-weight ratio and consistent voltage delivery, though many experienced crawlers maintain collections of both LiPo and NiMH packs for different applications. Your choice of battery chemistry affects runtime, charging time and the overall characteristics of your crawler's performance.
  • How does FOC technology improve crawling performance compared to standard brushless systems? — FOC (Field-Oriented Control) represents a fundamental improvement in how brushless motors are controlled electronically. Rather than simple commutation switching, FOC continuously optimises the magnetic field interaction between rotor and stator, resulting in dramatically smoother torque delivery, exceptional low-RPM control, cooler operation and higher efficiency. For crawlers, this translates to more precise throttle response when climbing, better hill-holding control, extended battery runtime and the ability to hold extremely slow speeds without stuttering. The nearly silent operation is another significant advantage, allowing you to hear terrain feedback and track conditions more clearly during technical crawling sections.
  • What is the difference between the 1200KV Fusion SE and the 1800KV variant? — The Quicrun Fusion SE for Crawler is available in both 1200KV and 1800KV configurations. The 1200KV version (featured here) provides more torque at the motor shaft, making it better suited for heavily geared crawlers with mechanical advantage for climbing very steep terrain. The 1800KV variant delivers higher RPM and faster top speed, making it more appropriate for faster crawling or hybrid use. Most dedicated rock crawlers opt for the 1200KV for its superior low-speed control and climbing torque.
  • Is the Fusion SE waterproof, and can I use it in wet conditions? — The Fusion SE carries an IP-67 waterproof rating, which means it provides protection against water splash, temporary water submersion under laboratory conditions, and significant dust ingress. This rating ensures your crawler can operate reliably in muddy, wet terrain typical of UK outdoor RC crawling locations. However, the IP-67 rating is not permanently effective—splash and water resistance may decline over time due to material ageing. Hobbywing recommends avoiding prolonged water soaking and rinsing the unit with fresh water after extended exposure to mud or saltwater conditions.
  • How long does the Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE take to charge, and how long will a battery last? — Runtime and charge time depend entirely on your battery choice. A typical 3S LiPo crawler pack (3000-5000mAh) will provide 30 minutes to an hour of continuous crawling, though actual runtime varies based on terrain difficulty, terrain type and driving intensity. Charge times range from 1-3 hours depending on charger capacity and battery capacity. For maximum battery lifespan, Hobbywing recommends using a quality RC-specific battery charger and avoiding complete depth-of-discharge.
  • Can I programme the Fusion SE with different settings? — The Quicrun Fusion SE can be programmed via an optional LED program box or by using the dedicated independent programming interface. Firmware upgrades are not supported on this model. You can adjust the 8 levels of drag brake force and 9 levels of drag brake rate to completely customise your vehicle's hill-holding characteristics and general driving behaviour. Different programming setups allow you to optimise performance for specific terrain types or driving styles.
  • What vehicles is the Quicrun Fusion SE compatible with? — The Fusion SE is specifically designed for 1/10th scale rock crawlers. It is directly compatible with Axial SCX10 III models including the Pro-Line 1982 Chevy K10 RTR, Base Camp 4X4, Coyote 4X4, 1987 Toyota SR5 4X4, and numerous builder kits. The compact 58mm length means it will fit in many modern crawler platforms, though compatibility should always be confirmed with your specific chassis manufacturer before purchase.
  • What connector types does the Fusion SE use? — The Fusion SE comes standard with XT-60 connectors on the battery input wires, widely recognised as the industry standard for RC power distribution. Optional connector adapters are available, including EC3, TRX, Deans, EC5, Tamiya, XT-90, IC5 and IC3 variants, allowing you to match your existing battery infrastructure without requiring new packs or expensive adapter cables.
