Technical Performance
The Overlander 4000mAh Hard Case Low Profile 3S 11.1V 50C LiPo Pack represents a significant engineering achievement in compact, high-discharge battery design. At 292 grams, it delivers a remarkable power-to-weight ratio that competitive RC car racers prize above all else. The continuous 50C discharge rate provides a maximum constant current of 120 amps, whilst the burst rating of 200 amps gives you the capability to handle the most demanding racing scenarios. The 44.4 watt-hours of stored energy represents a carefully calculated balance: enough capacity to keep your RC car running for extended periods, yet light enough that it won't compromise your vehicle's handling or require significant chassis modifications. The low-profile dimensions of approximately 138mm length, 46mm width and 24mm depth are crucial for competitive racing, as they allow the battery to sit lower and more centrally in the chassis, directly improving handling characteristics and weight distribution. The reinforced hard case is constructed from durable ABS plastic, which provides genuine impact protection without adding excessive weight, and this protection directly translates to longer battery lifespan when racing on rough tracks or during enthusiastic bashing sessions. The silicone-insulated 10 AWG wiring ensures that even under the extreme discharge rates this battery is designed for, minimal voltage drop occurs across the leads themselves, meaning more of the battery's power reaches your motor and ESC. The Deans T-plug connector has become the industry standard precisely because it provides superior electrical contact and mechanical security compared to older connector types. The JST-XH balance connector uses a proven micro-connector design that allows precise cell monitoring during charging, enabling your balance charger to prevent the cell voltage imbalances that reduce battery lifespan and can create safety hazards. The Fullymax cells used in this pack are known throughout the RC hobby for consistency and reliability, and the precision matching process ensures that whether you're in the first lap or the final lap of a race, each cell is delivering power equally.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Overlander 4000mAh 3S LiPo suitable for my RC car? — This battery is compatible with any RC car, buggy or truck designed for 11.1V 3S LiPo power with a Deans T-plug connector or suitable adapter. Always verify that your vehicle's speed controller (ESC) is rated for 3S LiPo operation before purchasing. The low-profile design makes it particularly suitable for vehicles with restricted battery compartments, which is common in competitive RC racing platforms.
- What is the C rating and why does 50C matter? — The C rating indicates how quickly the battery can safely discharge its energy. A 50C battery multiplied by its 4000mAh capacity means it can deliver a continuous maximum current of 120 amps (4Ah × 50C = 200A burst, 4Ah × 30C = 120A continuous as noted in the specs). This high C rating ensures your RC car receives the full power available without voltage sag degrading performance, which is essential for competitive racing where every fraction of a second matters.
- Do I need a special charger for this LiPo battery? — Yes, absolutely. LiPo batteries must be charged with a dedicated LiPo balance charger set to LiPo mode and 3S cell configuration. Using a standard charger or setting the wrong chemistry mode can result in overcharging, uneven cell charging, overheating or potentially dangerous failures. A proper balance charger ensures each of the three cells charges to exactly the same voltage, maintaining battery health and safety. This is not optional — it is essential.
- What does low-profile mean and why should I care? — Low-profile refers to the reduced height (depth) of the battery — this pack measures just 24mm compared to standard packs that might be 30-40mm tall. This slim profile allows the battery to fit into RC cars with restricted battery compartments, and more importantly, it allows the battery to sit lower and more centrally in your chassis, improving weight distribution and lowering your centre of gravity. This directly translates to better handling, improved cornering stability and faster lap times.
- How long will this battery last before needing replacement? — With proper care, a Fullymax-based LiPo like this one should provide 200-500 charge cycles before capacity noticeably degrades. However, this depends entirely on how you use and store the battery. Always store at approximately 50% charge (around 3.7V to 3.85V per cell) in a cool, dry place. Never allow the battery to fully discharge below 3.0V per cell or fully charge above 4.2V per cell, as this dramatically reduces lifespan and creates safety risks.
- Why is the hard case important compared to soft LiPo packs? — The reinforced hard case provides genuine protection against the impacts, vibrations and track debris inevitable in RC racing. Without this protection, the lithium cells inside can be damaged, potentially creating internal short circuits, reduced capacity or even safety hazards. The hard case also helps distribute impact forces evenly across the pack rather than concentrating damage in one area, extending the battery's usable life through multiple seasons of racing.
- What is the difference between continuous and burst discharge ratings? — The continuous discharge rating (30C, equalling 120A for this pack) indicates the maximum current the battery can safely deliver indefinitely without overheating or damage. The burst discharge rating (50C, equalling 200A) is the maximum current the battery can deliver for short periods — typically just a few seconds during aggressive acceleration or cornering. Understanding this distinction is crucial: using your battery's burst capability for extended periods will cause it to overheat and degrade rapidly.
- Can I use this battery in cold weather? — LiPo batteries are sensitive to temperature extremes. In cold conditions, the internal resistance increases, reducing available power and potentially causing the battery to shut down momentarily. Always allow the battery to warm to room temperature before use in cold weather. Never charge a LiPo battery if it is cold — always warm it first. Conversely, if the battery becomes hot during use, stop using it immediately and allow it to cool before attempting to charge.
- What makes Fullymax cells special compared to other brands? — Fullymax cells are carefully selected and matched for internal resistance, voltage and weight, ensuring consistent discharge characteristics. This matching means that all three cells in your pack discharge at the same rate, preventing voltage imbalances that reduce capacity and lifespan. The precision matching also ensures predictable power delivery, which is essential for competitive racing where consistency is paramount.
- How do I know if my battery needs replacing? — Replace your battery if you notice swelling or puffing of the case, if it no longer holds charge after a few minutes of rest, if it discharges rapidly without use, or if individual cells show significantly different voltages (more than 0.1V difference between cells). Swollen batteries should not be used and should be properly recycled — never attempt to charge or use a swollen LiPo battery.
- What voltage should I store this battery at? — Store your 3S LiPo at approximately 50% charge, which corresponds to about 3.7V to 3.85V per cell, or roughly 11.1V to 11.55V total voltage. This voltage minimises stress on the cells whilst preventing the battery from self-discharging below the dangerous 3.0V per cell minimum. Check storage charge every couple of months and top up or discharge as needed to maintain this sweet spot.
- Is this battery approved for UK racing competitions? — Yes, this battery carries BRCA (British Radio Car Association) approval, meaning it meets the official standards for use in sanctioned UK RC racing events. This is particularly important if you're competing in formal races or championships, as unapproved batteries would be disqualified.
