Built with high-quality materials and precision engineering, this shock set is engineered to provide consistent damping and responsive handling characteristics across a variety of terrain and driving conditions. The ready-to-bolt-on design means you can have your vehicle back in action quickly, with the shocks arriving fully assembled and pre-filled with premium silicone shock oil. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking authentic, factory-standard suspension components, this shock set represents an excellent choice for maintaining your vehicle's performance and longevity.

ARRMA has equipped this shock set with features that appeal to both casual weekend bashers and dedicated RC competitors. The inclusion of multiple preload spacer options allows you to fine-tune your suspension geometry to suit your driving style and track conditions, making this a versatile upgrade for any ARRMA 4S owner looking to optimise their vehicle's handling characteristics.

Key Features

  • High-Quality Anodised Aluminium Big Bore Shock Bodies — The shock bodies are manufactured from anodised aluminium, which provides excellent durability whilst resisting corrosion and wear. Anodisation protects the metal from oxidation and impact damage, ensuring your shocks maintain their performance and appearance through countless hours of RC action.
  • Tough Molded Shock Caps and Seal Cartridges — The shock caps and seal cartridges are injection moulded from tough composite materials designed to withstand the stresses of high-speed impacts and rough terrain. These components prevent oil leakage and maintain consistent damping performance throughout the lifespan of the shocks.
  • Strong 4mm Stainless Steel Shock Shafts — The shock shafts are manufactured from stainless steel with a 4mm diameter, providing exceptional strength and resistance to bending or breaking during aggressive driving. The stainless steel construction prevents rust and corrosion, ensuring reliable performance in wet conditions and after extended storage.
  • Tough Composite Shock Rod Ends and Spring Retainers — The rod ends, spring retainers, and pivot balls are constructed from tough composite materials that resist breakage whilst maintaining precise fitment and smooth operation. These components are critical for translating suspension movement smoothly into vehicle handling dynamics.
  • Smooth Silicone O-Rings — High-quality silicone o-rings provide fluid sealing within the shock cylinder, preventing oil loss whilst allowing smooth piston movement. Silicone formulations resist degradation from UV exposure and extreme temperatures better than rubber alternatives.
  • Pre-Filled with 500cSt Silicone Shock Oil — The shocks arrive completely assembled and pre-filled with premium 500 centistoke silicone shock oil, which provides reliable damping characteristics and smooth suspension action straight out of the box. You can install these shocks immediately without any additional preparation or tuning fluid purchases.
  • Supplied Fully Assembled — Unlike many aftermarket shock sets, these ARRMA shocks arrive completely assembled and ready to bolt directly onto your vehicle. This eliminates assembly time and potential fitment issues, getting you back to driving faster.
  • Multiple Preload Spacers for Tuning Flexibility — The set includes six preload spacers in three different thicknesses (2x 3mm, 2x 5mm, and 2x 7mm), allowing you to adjust your suspension ride height and preload compression to match different track conditions, driving styles, or vehicle setups. This tuning capability is invaluable for optimising your RC buggy or truck's handling balance.
  • 1.3mm x 4-Hole Pistons — The shock pistons feature a 1.3mm diameter with four damping holes, providing a balanced flow restriction that offers moderate damping suitable for varied driving conditions without being either too soft or too stiff for general use.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Shock Set features precision engineering throughout, with a 15mm bore diameter and 132mm centre-to-centre length, making these shocks compatible with specific ARRMA 1/10 scale models including the Kraton 4S and Outcast 4S platforms. The 4mm stainless steel shock shafts provide excellent rigidity and durability, preventing shaft flex that can compromise handling consistency during high-speed cornering or aggressive manoeuvres. The 1.3mm x 4-hole piston design offers a moderate damping curve suitable for both on-road and off-road driving, providing responsive suspension action without excessive harshness over bumps or stiff behaviour during transitions. The 500cSt silicone shock oil specification represents a medium-viscosity damping fluid that balances responsiveness with absorption of smaller terrain irregularities, making these shocks versatile across various driving conditions. The anodised aluminium construction of the shock bodies provides superior corrosion resistance compared to bare or painted finishes, particularly important for UK hobbyists who may encounter damp conditions or coastal environments. The inclusion of multiple preload spacer thicknesses allows precise adjustment of ride height and spring preload, enabling drivers to optimise their vehicle's weight distribution, ground clearance, and suspension compression behaviour to suit their specific driving preferences and track characteristics.

What You Need to Complete

  • Springs — You must source springs separately. ARRMA specifies compatible spring kits under part numbers ARA330761, ARA330762, and ARA330763. You will need to select the appropriate spring rate for your vehicle and driving style, as springs are not included with this shock set.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these shocks compatible with my 1/10 ARRMA RC vehicle? — These shocks are specifically designed for ARRMA 1/10 4S models including the Kraton 4X4 4S V2 BLX Speed Monster Truck and Outcast 4X4 4S V2 BLX Stunt Truck. Check your vehicle model against the fitment list or consult with our RC Model Shop team to confirm compatibility with your specific ARRMA platform before ordering.
  • What is the difference between 500cSt and other shock oil viscosities? — The 500cSt specification refers to the thickness (viscosity) of the silicone shock oil. Thicker oils (higher cSt ratings) provide firmer damping and are better for high-speed driving or smooth tracks, whilst thinner oils provide softer, more compliant suspension for rough terrain. The 500cSt specification in this kit is a versatile medium viscosity suitable for general purpose driving without requiring specialist tuning knowledge.
  • Do I need to do anything before installing these shocks? — No, these shocks arrive completely assembled and pre-filled with silicone oil. You simply need to fit your chosen springs onto the spring retainers using the preload spacers to achieve your desired ride height, then bolt them directly onto your vehicle. There is no need for any disassembly, cleaning, or oil changes prior to use.
  • What are the preload spacers for? — The preload spacers adjust how much pressure the spring applies to the shock absorber. By selecting different spacer thicknesses (3mm, 5mm, or 7mm), you can alter your vehicle's ride height and suspension stiffness. Thicker preload spacers compress the spring more, raising the vehicle slightly and making the suspension feel stiffer; thinner spacers allow more spring extension and lower ride height. Experimenting with different preload combinations allows you to fine-tune your vehicle's handling balance.
  • Can I use these shocks as a complete shock replacement? — Yes, these shocks are supplied as a complete replacement pair ready to bolt onto your vehicle. However, you must source compatible springs separately, as springs are not included. The ARRMA parts catalogue specifies which spring kits work with these 132mm shocks, so consult the parts diagram for your specific vehicle model.
  • What makes 4mm stainless steel shafts important? — The 4mm stainless steel construction provides exceptional resistance to bending, breaking, or corrosion compared to smaller diameter shafts or those made from inferior materials. Stainless steel does not rust, meaning these shocks maintain performance in wet UK conditions and during storage. The 4mm diameter provides sufficient strength to handle repeated impacts and aggressive driving without flexing, which would compromise your suspension geometry and handling consistency.
  • Why does this shock set include six preload spacers? — The variety of spacer thicknesses (two each of 3mm, 5mm, and 7mm) provides flexibility to adjust your suspension tuning without purchasing additional parts. You can experiment with different combinations to find the optimal ride height and spring preload for your driving style, track surface, and vehicle weight distribution, making this shock set adaptable to multiple setups or changes in driving conditions.
