Technical Performance
The PRO 1/10 1979 Ford F-150 Race Truck Clear Body is engineered with premium crystal clear polycarbonate, a material specifically chosen for its combination of durability, impact resistance, and optical clarity. At 1/10 scale, the body measures 20.5 inches (521mm) in length, 11.5 inches (292mm) in width at the widest point across the fenders, and stands 6.25 inches (159mm) in height. The wheelbase dimension of 13.0 inches (330mm) ensures proper fitment on short course platforms designed with this wheelbase specification. This body is manufactured as a complete single piece, making installation straightforward once you've applied your chosen paint scheme and decals. The polycarbonate construction provides the rigidity needed for competitive racing whilst maintaining the flexibility required for the occasional impact or bash session. Unlike cheaper alternatives, Pro-Line's manufacturing process ensures consistent wall thickness throughout the body, preventing weak points and ensuring even paint adhesion. The integrated paint-then-peel overspray film system protects the body during your painting process, a feature that demonstrates Pro-Line's understanding of what builds actually need during the finishing stage. Whether you're preparing this for high-speed track competition or casual weekend bashing, this body will perform reliably season after season.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a short course truck and is this body compatible with my RC vehicle? — Short course trucks are high-performance RC racing platforms designed for both track and outdoor bashing, characterized by their compact wheelbase and durable construction. This 1/10 scale body is specifically engineered to fit Traxxas Slash models (both 2WD and 4x4 variants), ARRMA Big Rock and ARRMA Senton trucks (with extended body mounts), and other compatible short course platforms with a 330mm wheelbase. If you own one of these vehicles, this body will mount directly; for other models, verify your truck's wheelbase measurement matches the 13.0-inch specification.
- Is this a clear unpainted body and what painting options do I have? — Yes, this body arrives completely unpainted and clear, giving you total creative freedom in how you finish it. You can apply any colour scheme using polycarbonate-compatible paints, spray cans, or airbrush systems. The included paint-then-peel overspray film protects the body during painting, and the detailed decal sheets provide authentic finishing graphics that can be applied after your paint dries. Many RC enthusiasts choose bright colours to match their truck's colour scheme, whilst others create custom designs that reflect their personal style.
- What is the build process for getting this body ready to bash? — The process is straightforward and takes just four simple steps. First, clean the body thoroughly and apply the included window masks to protect window areas. Second, apply your chosen paint and allow it to dry completely, then carefully peel away the protective overspray film. Third, apply the detailed decal sheets following the included instructions for professional-looking graphics. Fourth, trim any excess plastic using a hobby knife and mount the body onto your truck chassis using your vehicle's standard body mounting hardware. Most builders complete the entire process in an afternoon or two, depending on painting and drying time.
- Will this body fit my Traxxas Slash or ARRMA truck? — Yes, this 1/10 scale body is designed specifically for short course trucks with a 330mm wheelbase. It provides an excellent fit for Traxxas Slash 2WD, Traxxas Slash 4x4, and the latest Slash brushless variants including Slash VXL and Slash HD models. For ARRMA vehicles, the body fits Big Rock and Senton trucks when equipped with extended body mounts. Before purchase, verify your specific truck model is listed in the compatibility section—if you're unsure, check your truck's manual or ask our team at RC Model Shop.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst this is a bodyshell rather than a complete ready to run RC vehicle, the painting and assembly process is beginner-friendly and very forgiving. The included window masks and decal sheets make finishing straightforward, and there are no mechanical components to worry about—you're simply creating a protective and aesthetic shell for your existing truck. Many RC enthusiasts find the body customisation process one of the most enjoyable aspects of the hobby, and beginners quickly develop confidence with their painting and finishing skills.
- What does licensed mean and why does it matter? — Licensed means Pro-Line has obtained official permission from Ford Motor Company to reproduce the 1979 F-150 design, ensuring the body accurately represents the actual truck in terms of proportions, styling details, and iconic features. This is why the rectangular headlights, grille, and overall body lines look authentically correct. Licensed products represent genuine quality and attention to detail—Ford wouldn't approve designs that misrepresent their classic vehicle.
- Can I use this body on different truck platforms? — Potentially, yes, but with limitations. The body is designed for short course platforms with a 330mm wheelbase, and whilst it officially fits Traxxas Slash and ARRMA Big Rock/Senton trucks, fitting it to other platforms would require custom body mounting hardware and might result in improper fitment. We recommend using this body only with the officially compatible vehicles listed in the specifications for best results and proper safety during high-speed running.
- How durable is polycarbonate and will it break easily? — Polycarbonate is one of the most durable materials used in RC bodies, far more impact-resistant than alternatives like fibreglass. It can flex without cracking and will absorb impacts from crashes and rough terrain extremely well. The only way to truly damage polycarbonate is through repeated or very severe impacts, or exposure to certain solvents. For normal racing and bashing, you can expect this body to last for many seasons with proper care.
- What is the difference between this 1979 F-150 and other Pro-Line truck bodies? — Pro-Line offers several vintage truck designs in 1/10 scale, including the 1978 Chevy C10 Race Truck and the Ford Bronco R, each with distinctly different styling and proportions. The 1979 F-150 is specifically chosen for its iconic pickup truck stance with wide fenders, which creates an aggressive race truck appearance. If you prefer Chevrolet styling, the C10 would be your choice; if you want a more rugged SUV look, the Bronco R offers that aesthetic. The F-150 specifically appeals to Ford enthusiasts and those who love the pre-runner truck aesthetic.
