Overview

The Pro-Line 1/10 1966 Ford F-100 Clear Body for Short Course trucks is a licensed, authentically detailed RC body shell that transforms your short course truck into a classic American workhorse. This isn't just any RC body—it's a meticulously crafted replica of the iconic 1966 Ford F-100, complete with perfectly scaled step-sides and huge fender flares that capture the essence of vintage desert racing culture. Whether you're building your first custom RC car UK or adding to an established collection, this body shell delivers the kind of head-turning detail and realism that separates showpiece builds from the rest.

Built from crystal clear polycarbonate and manufactured in the USA since 1982, Pro-Line has engineered this body to fit Short Course trucks with extended body mounts, including the Traxxas Slash 2WD, Slash 4x4, ARRMA Big Rock, ARRMA Senton, and other compatible short course platforms. The body comes completely unpainted and ready for your personal customisation, allowing you to create anything from a factory-stock recreation to your own bespoke version of the legendary Class 8 Desert Truck that dominated the deserts during the 1980s. The old-school "Hay Hauler" aesthetic is instantly recognisable, and once you've applied your own paint scheme and included decal sheet, your RC short course truck will command attention both on and off the track.

This is an excellent choice for RC enthusiasts who want to elevate their truck's appearance without needing to purchase an entirely new vehicle. The comprehensive package includes everything you need to prepare the body for painting, including a window mask, paint-then-peel overspray film, and a decal sheet. Whether you're a seasoned RC basher or someone exploring the world of ready to run RC trucks, this Pro-Line body offers unmatched customisation potential and authentic styling that reflects the golden age of American truck design.

Key Features

  • Licensed 1966 Ford F-100 Design — This is an officially licensed body based on the classic Ford F-100, ensuring authentic proportions and details that you simply cannot find in generic or unlicensed alternatives, giving your RC truck genuine appeal and authenticity.
  • Crystal Clear Polycarbonate Construction — The body is manufactured from high-quality crystal clear polycarbonate material, which is durable, lightweight, and allows you to personalise the paint finish to any colour scheme or design you imagine without worrying about the base material showing through.
  • Extended Body Mounts Compatibility — Designed specifically for Short Course trucks equipped with extended body mounts, this body fits the Traxxas Slash 2WD, Slash 4x4, ARRMA Big Rock, ARRMA Senton, and other compatible short course trucks, though extended body mounts must be purchased separately.
  • Paint-Then-Peel Overspray Film Built-In — The body comes with an integrated paint-then-peel overspray film that protects the chassis areas during painting and makes the finishing process cleaner and more professional-looking, saving you time and effort when preparing your RC car for display or racing.
  • Included Window Mask — A fitted window mask is included in the box, allowing you to mask off the windows before painting so that you achieve clean, professional-looking window areas without paint overspray or uneven coverage.
  • Decal Sheet Included — A comprehensive decal sheet comes with the body, giving you authentic graphics and trim details that perfectly complement the vintage Ford F-100 design and help bring your custom truck to life.
  • Old-School Hay Hauler Aesthetics — The '66 F-100 body features perfectly scaled details including authentic step-sides and huge fender flares that evoke the classic workhorse trucks of the 1960s, instantly transporting your short course truck back to an era of genuine automotive style.
  • Made in the USA Since 1982 — Pro-Line Racing has been manufacturing premium RC bodies in the United States for over four decades, representing decades of engineering expertise, quality control, and commitment to delivering products that meet the exacting standards of serious RC enthusiasts.
  • Four-Step Customisation Process — The body is designed to be beginner-friendly, following four simple steps: clean the body and apply the window mask, paint then peel the overspray film, apply the included decal sheet, and mount the body onto your truck, making the build process accessible to everyone.

Technical Performance

The Pro-Line 1/10 1966 Ford F-100 Clear Body is engineered with meticulous attention to detail and proportion, resulting in a body shell that looks proportionally correct on any compatible short course truck platform. The crystal clear polycarbonate material offers excellent durability whilst remaining lightweight, ensuring that your RC truck's performance and handling characteristics remain unaffected by the body installation. At 20.3 inches in length, 9.4 inches in width, and 6.5 inches in height, with a wheelbase of 12.7 inches, the body maintains proper scale representation whilst fitting precisely within the dimensional constraints of short course truck platforms. The uncompromised engineering extends to the fitment of the extended body mounts, which are sold separately and must be obtained to ensure the body sits correctly on your vehicle chassis. The paint-then-peel overspray film is a thoughtful engineering detail that prevents paint from seeping onto chassis components during the finishing process, which is particularly valuable when you're investing time in creating a show-quality custom build. This body is designed as the cosmetic centerpiece of your build—it does not contain any electronic components, motors, batteries, or drivetrain elements, allowing you to focus purely on the visual customisation and presentation of your RC short course truck whilst utilising your existing chassis and running gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Pro-Line 1966 Ford F-100 Clear Body suitable for RC truck beginners? — Yes, this body is absolutely suitable for beginners because it requires no mechanical knowledge to install or customise. The four-step process is straightforward: apply the window mask, paint the body, apply the included decals, and mount it onto your truck. The included accessories like the window mask and overspray film actually make the customisation process easier and more forgiving for those new to RC car building.
  • What RC truck chassis does this body fit? — This body is designed for short course trucks with extended body mounts. It is confirmed compatible with the Traxxas Slash 2WD, Traxxas Slash 4x4, ARRMA Big Rock, and ARRMA Senton. Other short course trucks with extended body mounts may also be compatible, but extended body mounts must be purchased separately as they are not included.
  • Do I need to buy anything else besides this body to install it on my truck? — Yes, you will need to purchase extended body mounts separately if your truck doesn't already have them installed. Once you have the mounts, you'll need paint (acrylic or polycarbonate paint formulated for plastic bodies) and optionally a clear protective coat. The body itself, window mask, decal sheet, and overspray film are all included.
  • Can I paint this body myself if I'm not experienced with RC customisation? — Absolutely. The included window mask protects the clear areas from paint overspray, and the paint-then-peel overspray film prevents paint from accidentally coating your chassis during the painting process. This makes the project very forgiving for beginners. You can use spray cans, an airbrush, or even hand-paint with a brush depending on your preferences and available equipment.
  • What is the difference between this Pro-Line body and other generic short course bodies? — This is an officially licensed 1966 Ford F-100 body, meaning the design, proportions, and details are authentic to the real vehicle, approved by Ford. Generic bodies lack this official licensing and authentic design pedigree. Additionally, Pro-Line has been manufacturing premium RC bodies since 1982, representing decades of engineering expertise. The included accessories—window mask, decal sheet, and overspray film—are thoughtfully designed to make the customisation process accessible and produce professional-looking results.
  • Is this body weatherproof or waterproof? — This is a body shell made from crystal clear polycarbonate—it is the cosmetic covering for your truck. The polycarbonate itself is water-resistant, but the overall weatherproofing of your RC truck depends on your chassis electronics and components. The body itself provides some protection for chassis components when properly installed.
  • What makes the 1966 Ford F-100 design special for RC enthusiasts? — The 1966 Ford F-100 is an iconic American truck that became legendary in desert racing during the 1980s, particularly as Class 8 Desert Trucks. The old-school "Hay Hauler" aesthetic carries significant nostalgic and cultural appeal. With its perfectly scaled step-sides and huge fender flares, this body transforms your modern short course truck into a rolling piece of automotive history, giving it unmistakable vintage character that distinguishes it from any contemporary truck design.
  • How long does it take to finish this body and get it ready to run? — The actual preparation time is minimal. Cleaning the body and applying the window mask takes 15-30 minutes. Painting duration depends entirely on your chosen method (spray cans are faster than airbrushing or hand-painting). Once paint is dry, peeling the overspray film takes just a few minutes, applying decals adds another 20-30 minutes, and mounting onto your truck takes 10-15 minutes. Total from unboxing to completion could reasonably be accomplished in a single afternoon, though drying times between paint coats may extend the project across 1-2 days.
