It meets Global Body Spec rules, ensuring compliance with competition standards at tracks and events throughout the UK and internationally.

The P63 comes complete with everything you need to get started: convenient plastic wing buttons and under-wing nuts for easy wing attachment, M3 mounting screws, a stylish decal sheet to add personalisation, window masks for precise painting, and paint-then-peel overspray film to protect unpainted areas during the finishing process. This is genuine PROTOform engineering – trusted by competitors worldwide for reliability, performance and innovative design.

Key Features

  • Radical High-Downforce Design with Sloped Hood and Cab-Forward Layout — The P63 features an aggressive aerodynamic profile with a distinctly sloped hood and cab-forward layout that generates tremendous downforce, keeping your 190mm touring car planted firmly to the track surface even at maximum speed, resulting in superior grip, faster cornering speeds and more predictable handling through technical sections.
  • Stiffening Hood Ribs for Low Deflection in Ultra-Light Weights — Despite the ultra-light 0.65mm polycarbonate construction, the P63 incorporates strategically engineered hood ribs that prevent flexing and deflection under aerodynamic forces, maintaining structural integrity and consistent performance throughout your race, which is especially important when running such a thin shell at high speeds.
  • Recessed Trunk Section for Low Centre of Gravity and Extra Stiffness — The recessed trunk design lowers the overall centre of gravity of your RC touring car, improving stability and handling response, whilst simultaneously increasing shell stiffness in a critical area – this is racing engineering at its finest, combining aerodynamic benefit with structural advantage.
  • Sculpted Side Door Panels for Increased Side-Bite — The carefully sculpted door panel contours create additional aerodynamic side force, providing extra grip during cornering and direction changes, allowing you to carry more speed through the apex and maintain momentum through complex track layouts.
  • High Flow Rear Bumper Area for Reduced Aero Drag — The rear bumper section has been designed with optimised flow characteristics to minimise aerodynamic drag at speed, allowing your RC car to accelerate more efficiently and achieve higher top speeds whilst maintaining downforce – a crucial balance in modern touring car design.
  • Signature Mounting Marks in Front Wheel Arches — PROTOform's innovative mounting mark system allows you to position your body in precise 2mm increments up to +8mm forward, giving you unparalleled adjustment capability to fine-tune weight distribution, handling balance and aerodynamic performance without trial and error.
  • Easy Alignment Markings Throughout — Additional markings on the hood, decklid and rear bumper make it incredibly straightforward to line up your body posts accurately, whether your chassis features vertical or horizontal rear body post configurations – no measuring tape required, just precise, repeatable setup.
  • Easiest Mounting of Any PROTOform Body — The P63 represents the culmination of PROTOform's mounting innovation, making body installation and adjustment faster and more intuitive than ever before, getting you on the track sooner and allowing more time for testing and refinement.
  • Available in Three Weight Options — Choose between X-Lite (0.4mm for expert drivers only), PRO-Lite (0.5mm for all-around versatility), or Light Weight (0.65mm for novice drivers and windy conditions) – selecting the thickness that matches your skill level and local track conditions for optimal performance.
  • Complete Accessory Package Included — Every P63 comes with plastic wing buttons, under-wing nuts, M3 mounting screws, a stylish decal sheet for customisation, window masks for precise masking during painting, and paint-then-peel overspray film to protect unpainted areas.
  • Global Body Spec Compliant Design — Built to meet international body specification rules, ensuring your P63 is legal for competition at clubs and events throughout the UK and internationally, with no compatibility concerns or rule violations.
  • Made in the USA from Premium Polycarbonate — Manufactured to the highest standards using durable polycarbonate material, the P63 offers exceptional longevity and reliability, resisting impacts and stress that would damage inferior shells, protecting your investment through many seasons of racing.
  • Clear, Unpainted Shell for Ultimate Customisation — Delivered as a clear shell without factory paint, you have complete creative freedom to design your own unique livery using spray paint, vinyl decals or any finishing technique you prefer, making your RC touring car truly one-of-a-kind.

Technical Performance

The PROTOform P63 represents the pinnacle of modern 1/10 touring car body engineering, specifically optimised for the high-speed, high-grip 190mm platform that dominates competitive racing in the UK and worldwide. The 0.65mm light weight polycarbonate construction strikes an intelligent balance between shell strength and weight reduction – light enough to minimise unsprung mass and improve handling response, yet robust enough to withstand the demands of aggressive racing without cracking or warping under aerodynamic load. The aerodynamic design philosophy centres on creating maximum downforce whilst minimising drag, a dual objective achieved through the sloped hood geometry, recessed trunk section, sculpted side panels and optimised rear bumper flow area. The integrated hood ribs provide exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio, preventing the thin polycarbonate from flexing under high-speed cornering loads that would otherwise compromise aerodynamic consistency and handling predictability. The engineering team at PROTOform has extensively analysed modern touring car chassis dynamics to ensure the P63's aerodynamic balance works harmoniously with contemporary suspension systems, motor mounting positions and weight distribution requirements. The recessed trunk not only lowers centre of gravity but also increases overall shell stiffness, allowing the 0.65mm shell to perform more like a heavier alternative. Whether you're running brushless or brushed motor systems, standard or modified touring cars, the P63 accommodates diverse chassis configurations through its clever mounting mark system and flexible body post alignment features. This is genuinely racing-grade equipment, engineered by professionals for competitive performance on demanding UK club tracks and international touring car racing circuits.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the P63 Light Weight suitable for beginners to touring car racing? — Yes, the 0.65mm light weight variant is specifically recommended for novice drivers as it offers a good balance between durability and performance, whilst being more forgiving than the ultra-thin X-Lite option. The straightforward mounting system with clear alignment marks makes body installation simple even for those new to building RC touring cars.
  • What's the difference between the P63 Light Weight (0.65mm) and other thickness options? — PROTOform offers three thicknesses: X-Lite (0.4mm) for expert drivers only seeking maximum performance, PRO-Lite (0.5mm) as a versatile all-around option, and Light Weight (0.65mm) for novice drivers or windy outdoor conditions. The Light Weight option provides more durability and is less prone to flexing in challenging wind conditions, making it ideal for UK outdoor tracks.
  • Does the P63 come painted? — No, the P63 is sold as a clear, unpainted shell. This gives you complete freedom to create your own custom livery using spray paint, vinyl decals or any finishing technique you prefer. The included paint-then-peel overspray film and window masks make painting preparation straightforward.
  • Which 190mm touring car chassis is the P63 compatible with? — The P63 is designed for all modern 1/10 190mm touring car platforms including popular models from Xray, TLR, Associated, Kyosho and others. The innovative mounting mark system with 2mm increment positions ensures compatibility across different chassis designs and rear post configurations.
  • How does the mounting system work? — The P63 features PROTOform's signature mounting marks inside the front wheel arches, allowing you to position the body forward or backward in 2mm increments up to +8mm. Additional alignment markings on the hood, decklid and rear bumper ensure precise positioning regardless of your chassis's vertical or horizontal rear body post setup.
  • Is the P63 legal for racing in the UK? — Yes, the P63 is designed to meet Global Body Spec rules, ensuring full compliance with competition standards at UK club tracks and international events, with no concerns about rule violations or compatibility issues.
  • What tools do I need to prepare the body for painting? — You'll need basic RC hobby tools: a hobby knife or scalpel for cutting the clear shell, body scissors or hobby saw for trimming wheel arch areas, and possibly a body reamer for creating precise window openings if you prefer to cut your own. The included window masks help protect areas you don't want painted.
  • Can I use the P63 in windy outdoor conditions? — The 0.65mm light weight variant is specifically recommended for windy outdoor track conditions. If you frequently experience extremely strong winds, you may consider the heavier PRO-Lite (0.5mm) option, but the Light Weight should perform reliably in typical UK outdoor conditions.
  • How durable is the 0.65mm shell? — The P63 Light Weight uses premium USA-manufactured polycarbonate with integrated hood ribs for exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio. Whilst thinner than heavier options, the engineering provides excellent durability for racing applications. The polycarbonate resists impacts better than inferior materials and won't crack easily under normal racing stress.
  • What paint should I use on the clear polycarbonate shell? — Standard RC body spray paint formulated for polycarbonate works perfectly on the P63. Use 3-4 thin coats rather than one thick coat for best results, and always apply a clear protective coat over your base colour for durability and gloss finish. Many competitors use professional automotive or hobby-grade polycarbonate paint for best results.
