Overview
The Axial ESC/Receiver, 2.4GHz, EC2 is a dedicated electronic speed control and receiver unit designed specifically for 1/24 scale RC crawler vehicles. This integrated component represents a seamless solution for builders and enthusiasts looking to upgrade or complete their Axial SCX24 rock crawlers and mini 4WD vehicles. The combination of ESC and receiver in one compact module simplifies installation whilst maintaining the reliability and performance standards that Axial is recognised for across the RC community in the UK.
Whether you're a seasoned RC hobbyist restoring a model, replacing damaged electronics, or building a custom 1/24 scale RC crawler from scratch, this ESC/receiver unit delivers the control and responsiveness needed for precision driving on challenging terrain. The 2.4GHz wireless frequency ensures interference-free operation, a critical feature for any RC car UK enthusiast who values consistent, lag-free control during rock crawling sessions or competitive events.
Key Features
- Integrated ESC and Receiver Design — This unit combines both the electronic speed controller and receiver into a single, compact module, which reduces wiring complexity, saves weight, and streamlines installation on your 1/24 scale vehicle. The all-in-one approach is particularly valuable for small-scale builds where space is at a premium.
- 2.4GHz Frequency Technology — Operating on the 2.4GHz band provides a digital frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) communication protocol, ensuring your ready to run RC crawler operates without interference from other models or wireless devices. This makes it ideal for use at clubs, events, or wherever multiple RC vehicles may be in operation simultaneously.
- EC2 Receiver Protocol Compatibility — The EC2 designation indicates compatibility with Axial's EC2 transmitter protocol, ensuring seamless pairing and intuitive control mapping. This standardised compatibility simplifies setup and reduces troubleshooting requirements.
- Broad SCX24 Model Compatibility — This ESC/receiver unit is engineered to work with the entire Axial 1/24 SCX24 family of rock crawlers, including the Chevrolet C10 trucks, Jeep Wrangler JLU, Lexus GX 470, Ford Bronco, Toyota 4Runner, Dodge Power Wagon, Jeep Gladiator, and Deadbolt models. The extensive compatibility list makes this a versatile upgrade or replacement component for multiple vehicles in your collection.
- Compact Form Factor for Tight Chassis Spaces — Designed to fit within the minimal footprint of 1/24 scale vehicles, this integrated unit allows builders to maximise battery and motor placement whilst maintaining balanced weight distribution essential for crawling performance.
Technical Performance
The Axial ESC/Receiver Z-HRZ00015 is engineered specifically for 1/24 scale electric rock crawling applications. As an integrated ESC/receiver module, it eliminates the need for separate speed controller and receiver units, reducing overall system weight and complexity—critical factors in small-scale RC crawler design where every gram affects handling and terrain capability. The 2.4GHz wireless communication standard provides reliable, digitally secure control transmission, utilising modern frequency-hopping technology to prevent signal loss and interference. This ESC/receiver combination is calibrated to deliver smooth, responsive throttle modulation essential for precise rock crawling, allowing drivers to navigate obstacles with fine control inputs. The unit integrates directly into the Axial SCX24 ecosystem, matching perfectly with the factory wiring harnesses and mounting points found across Axial's 1/24 vehicle range. Whether you're operating a brushed or compatible motor setup, this receiver maintains consistent performance across varied terrain conditions, from indoor concrete crawling courses to outdoor rocky landscapes. The robust construction ensures durability through repeated impacts and rough handling typical of rock crawler operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Axial 1/24 RC crawler models is this ESC/receiver compatible with? — The Z-HRZ00015 is compatible with all Axial SCX24 models in the 1/24 scale range, including the 1971 and 1967 Chevrolet C10 4WD trucks, Jeep Wrangler JLU, Lexus GX 470 4x4 rock crawlers in multiple colours, Ford Bronco 4X4, Toyota 4Runner 4x4, Dodge Power Wagon 4WD, Jeep Gladiator 4WD, and the SCX24 Deadbolt rock crawler. This broad compatibility makes it an ideal replacement or upgrade component for builders with multiple vehicles in the SCX24 range.
- Is this ESC/receiver suitable for beginners and intermediate RC enthusiasts? — Yes, this integrated unit is appropriate for both beginners and experienced builders. The combined ESC/receiver design actually simplifies installation compared to managing separate components, making it more beginner-friendly. The 2.4GHz EC2 protocol is intuitive and pairs easily with compatible transmitters. However, users should ensure they have basic familiarity with RC electronics and proper battery safety before operation.
- What type of battery does this ESC/receiver require? — The specific battery type and cell count (2S LiPo, 3S LiPo, etc.) requirements depend on your individual SCX24 model's motor and electrical specifications. Consult your vehicle's instruction manual or contact RC Model Shop for battery recommendations tailored to your specific build. Axial SCX24 vehicles typically use compact LiPo or NiMh batteries sized appropriately for 1/24 scale power delivery.
- Is the 2.4GHz frequency reliable for RC cars in the UK? — Absolutely. The 2.4GHz band is the standard frequency for modern RC vehicles throughout the UK and worldwide. This ESC/receiver uses digital frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology to provide interference-free operation even in crowded RC environments with multiple vehicles operating simultaneously. It is fully compliant with UK radio regulations and is recognised as the industry standard for reliable, lag-free control.
- Can I use this with my existing Axial transmitter? — Yes, provided your transmitter uses the EC2 protocol and operates on 2.4GHz. The EC2 designation confirms compatibility with Axial's standard EC2 receiver protocol. If you are unsure about your current transmitter compatibility, our RC Model Shop team can assist with pairing information and recommendations.
