Overview
The ARRMA Machined Shock Seal Guide Set Z-ARA330729 is a precision-engineered spare part designed for RC enthusiasts who demand the highest performance from their shock cartridges. Whether you're a competitive racer pushing your 1/8 scale buggy to its limits or a weekend basher maintaining your RC car in peak condition, this shock seal guide set delivers the precision engineering that separates premium RC setups from standard builds. The machined construction ensures that every component works in perfect harmony with your shock assembly, reducing friction and maintaining consistent damping performance lap after lap.
For RC car UK hobbyists and serious competitors alike, shock maintenance and upgrade components are essential to keeping your vehicle performing at its best. This ARRMA shock seal guide set is specifically engineered to work seamlessly with your shock cartridge, providing the kind of low-drag performance that makes a real difference when you're chasing faster lap times or smoother handling characteristics. ARRMA's reputation for precision manufacturing means you're investing in parts that have been tested and proven in the most demanding racing environments.
If you own an ARRMA 1/8 scale buggy like the TLR Tuned TYPHON 6S, this shock seal guide set is an essential maintenance item and performance upgrade rolled into one. The precision machined design ensures accurate fitment around the shock shaft and within the shock cartridge, eliminating play and unwanted friction that can degrade your damping response.
Key Features
- Precision Machined Construction — Each component in this shock seal guide set has been precision machined to exacting tolerances, ensuring an accurate fit in the shock cartridge and around the shock shaft with zero play or wobbling. This level of precision means your damping characteristics remain consistent and predictable.
- High-Quality POM Material — The guide components are manufactured from POM (polyoxymethylene) material, which delivers exceptional low friction properties whilst maintaining high stiffness and dimensional stability even under the extreme stresses of competitive racing. This material choice ensures long service life and consistent performance across multiple heat cycles.
- Low-Drag Performance — By reducing friction between the shock shaft and the seal guides, this set minimises drag and drag-induced heat generation, allowing your shock oil to maintain its viscosity and damping characteristics for longer between services. Lower friction also means more responsive damping feedback when you need it most.
- Superior Dimensional Stability — POM material resists warping, degradation and dimensional change even when exposed to the high temperatures generated during intense racing sessions, ensuring that your shock geometry remains true and your suspension geometry stays dialled in.
Technical Performance
This Machined Shock Seal Guide Set represents the engineering standards you'd expect from ARRMA, a manufacturer with extensive experience in 1/8 scale RC buggy racing. The precision machining process creates components with extremely tight tolerances, ensuring that every part fits perfectly within your shock cartridge assembly. The use of POM material throughout the guide set provides an ideal balance between strength and low friction — traditional plastic alternatives can degrade or warp under the high temperatures and stresses experienced in racing conditions, whilst harder materials can create excessive friction. The guide set's design minimises the gap between the shock shaft and the guides, reducing unwanted movement whilst allowing smooth, frictionless operation. This is particularly important in 1/8 scale buggies where suspension response directly impacts handling precision and corner exit grip. The dimensional stability of the POM material means that whether you're racing in cool British winter conditions or hot summer events, your shock performance remains consistent. The set's engineering also complements the ARA711003 X-Ring 4x7.5mm specification, creating a complete sealing system that keeps shock oil in and contaminants out.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a shock seal guide set and why do I need one? — A shock seal guide set comprises precision components that sit inside your shock cartridge and guide the shock shaft as it compresses and extends during suspension travel. They minimise friction between the shaft and the seals, reducing drag and heat generation whilst maintaining consistent damping performance. If your shocks are feeling less responsive than they should be, or if you're building a new racing setup, upgrading to precision machined guides like this ARRMA set can make a measurable difference to your RC car's handling.
- Is this shock seal guide set compatible with my ARRMA buggy? — This set is specifically designed for the ARRMA 1/8 TLR Tuned TYPHON 6S 4WD BLX Buggy RTR. If you own a different ARRMA model, check your vehicle's shock specifications before ordering. ARRMA uses consistent shock designs across many of their 1/8 scale buggies, but compatibility should always be confirmed before purchase.
- Do I need to buy anything else with this product? — Yes, you will need to purchase the ARA711003 X-Ring 4x7.5mm separately. This shock seal guide set works in conjunction with the X-ring component to create a complete, low-friction sealing system. The guide set alone cannot function without the X-rings, so ensure you have both components before attempting installation.
- How often should I replace shock seal guides? — Shock seal guides should be inspected regularly during maintenance intervals. If you notice increased friction, sluggish damping response, or if the guides show visible wear or damage, replacement is recommended. For competitive racers running multiple heats, inspecting guides every 10-15 hours of running time is a sensible precaution.
- What is POM material and why is it used for shock guides? — POM (polyoxymethylene), also known as acetal, is an engineering plastic that offers exceptional low-friction properties combined with excellent dimensional stability and stiffness. Unlike softer plastics that can deform under heat and stress, POM maintains its shape and clearances precisely, which is critical for consistent shock performance. Its low-friction nature means minimal drag on the shock shaft, translating to more responsive damping.
- Can I fit this shock seal guide set myself? — Yes, if you have basic RC maintenance experience. Shock cartridge work requires care and attention to cleanliness, as contamination inside the shock can severely impact performance. If you're new to shock maintenance, consider having your local RC shop install it or watching detailed installation guides specific to the TYPHON platform first.
