Overview

The ARRMA Shock Set 11mm Bore 118mm Length 500cSt Oil (Z-ARA330678) is a premium suspension upgrade designed for RC enthusiasts looking to enhance the performance and handling of their ARRMA RC vehicles. Whether you're a dedicated basher, a weekend racer, or an RC car enthusiast in the UK seeking to optimise your setup, this shock set delivers the quality and performance you need. These assembled aluminium-body shock absorbers come pre-filled with high-quality 500cSt silicone shock oil, making them an ideal choice for those wanting a fast and efficient shock upgrade without the hassle of assembling components from scratch.

Built with precision engineering and premium materials, this shock set is compatible with a wide range of ARRMA models including the 1/10 Big Rock, Granite, Senton and Vorteks series, as well as the 1/8 Typhon buggy platform. The set arrives fully assembled and ready to bolt directly onto your vehicle after you've selected your preferred springs, making installation straightforward for experienced modellers and those new to RC customisation alike. ARRMA's reputation for building tough, reliable RC vehicles is reflected in every component of this shock set.

This shock upgrade is particularly valuable for RC car owners in the UK who want to improve suspension response, handling consistency and overall ride quality across different terrain and driving conditions. The combination of anodised aluminium bodies, stainless steel shock shafts and silicone o-rings ensures longevity even under demanding use, whether you're bashing through rough ground or fine-tuning your setup for competitive racing.

Key Features

  • High-Quality Anodised Aluminium Shock Bodies — The shock bodies are manufactured from premium aluminium and anodised to provide excellent corrosion resistance, durability and a professional appearance that will last through countless hours of RC driving without degrading.
  • Tough Molded Shock Caps, Seal Cartridges and Preload Adjusters — Each shock is equipped with robustly moulded caps and precision-engineered seal cartridges that prevent oil leakage and maintain consistent damping performance, whilst the integrated preload adjusters allow you to fine-tune suspension geometry for different driving styles and track conditions.
  • Strong 3mm Stainless Steel Shock Shafts — The shock shafts are constructed from stainless steel with a substantial 3mm diameter, providing exceptional strength and long-lasting durability even under the stress of hard landings, jumps and aggressive driving.
  • Tough Composite Shock Rod Ends, Spring Retainers and Pivot Balls — High-quality composite materials are used for the rod ends and pivot ball connections, offering excellent strength-to-weight characteristics whilst resisting wear and tear from repeated suspension movement.
  • Smooth Silicone O-Rings — Premium silicone seals ensure smooth piston movement and prevent damping oil from escaping, maintaining consistent shock performance throughout the life of the components.
  • Supplied Fully Assembled — Unlike component kits that require assembly, these shocks arrive completely assembled and ready to install, saving you time and ensuring factory-quality assembly standards.
  • Pre-Filled with 500cSt Silicone Shock Oil — The shocks come charged with high-quality 500cSt silicone damping oil, which provides consistent performance across temperature ranges and maintains predictable suspension behaviour in various driving conditions.
  • Comprehensive Preload Spacer Selection — The set includes three different preload spacer options (3mm, 5mm and 7mm) allowing you to adjust suspension geometry and fine-tune your RC vehicle's ride height and handling characteristics to suit your preferences.
  • Ready to Bolt On — After fitting your choice of compatible springs, these shocks are ready to install directly onto your ARRMA vehicle with no additional modification or assembly required.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Shock Set Z-ARA330678 represents a careful balance of engineering precision and practical durability. With an internal bore diameter of 11mm and a centre-to-centre length of 118mm, these shocks are engineered to fit seamlessly into the suspension geometry of compatible ARRMA models across both the 1/10 and 1/8 scale ranges. The 1.3mm x 2-hole piston design is optimised to deliver smooth, progressive damping characteristics that respond predictably to suspension compression and extension, crucial for maintaining vehicle control and stability during both high-speed running and technical rock-crawling scenarios. The 500cSt silicone shock oil provides the ideal viscosity for consistent damping performance in UK climate conditions, where temperatures can vary significantly between summer and winter driving sessions. The combination of anodised aluminium bodies and stainless steel shafts ensures that these shocks will withstand the rigours of regular use, saltwater exposure from coastal running, and the general wear that comes with active RC driving. Build quality is exceptional throughout, with precision-moulded shock caps, reliable seal cartridges and robust composite rod ends all contributing to a product that will deliver reliable performance season after season. The included preload spacers (3mm, 5mm and 7mm options) allow for precise geometry tuning, enabling drivers to optimise suspension ride height, anti-squat and anti-dive characteristics based on their preferred driving style and terrain.

What's in the Box

  • 2 x Assembled Shock Absorbers
  • 2 x 3mm Preload Spacer
  • 2 x 5mm Preload Spacer
  • 2 x 7mm Preload Spacer

What You Need to Complete

  • Shock Springs — The set requires compatible springs such as ARRMA part number AR330539 (80mm length, 0.84N/mm rate) or AR330460 (64mm length, 0.61N/mm rate). These springs must be selected and fitted separately to complete the shock assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which ARRMA RC vehicles are compatible with the 11mm Bore 118mm Length shock set? — This shock set fits a comprehensive range of ARRMA models including the 1/10 Big Rock 223S, Big Rock 3S, Granite 223S, Granite 3S, Granite Boost, Granite Mega, Senton 3S, Senton Boost, Vorteks Boost and the 1/8 Typhon 3S, Typhon Mega and Typhon brushless and brushed variants. Check your specific model number against the fitment list to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
  • Do these shocks come assembled and ready to install? — Yes, the shocks are supplied completely assembled with 500cSt silicone oil pre-filled and all internal components installed. After you've selected and fitted your preferred springs, they are ready to bolt directly onto your vehicle with no assembly required.
  • What springs do I need to use with these shocks? — ARRMA recommends either part number AR330539 (80mm shock springs with 0.84N/mm rate, suitable for 7.43lb/in) or AR330460 (64mm shock springs with 0.61N/mm rate, suitable for 5.40lb/in). The choice between these depends on your vehicle model and desired suspension characteristics.
  • What do the different preload spacers do? — The included 3mm, 5mm and 7mm preload spacers allow you to adjust the spring preload, which changes your vehicle's ride height and suspension geometry. Using different spacer combinations lets you fine-tune anti-squat, anti-dive and overall handling to match your driving style and terrain.
  • Why is 500cSt shock oil important? — The 500cSt viscosity rating determines how the shocks respond to suspension movement. This specific viscosity is calibrated for consistent damping performance across the temperature ranges you'll encounter with RC driving in the UK, ensuring predictable handling in both summer and winter conditions.
  • Are these shocks suitable for beginners? — Whilst these are high-quality performance shocks, they do require separate spring selection and fitting, making them more suitable for intermediate and experienced RC modellers who are comfortable with suspension tuning. Beginners should ensure they understand spring selection before purchasing.
  • How durable are the 3mm stainless steel shock shafts? — The 3mm diameter stainless steel construction provides exceptional strength and resistance to bending or damage from hard landings and aggressive driving. Stainless steel also resists corrosion, making these shocks reliable even in damp UK conditions or after exposure to saltwater.
