Overview

The ARRMA Shock Set with 16mm bore and 77mm length represents a premium suspension upgrade solution for RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to maintain or enhance their vehicle's performance. This complete shock assembly kit is engineered for fast and efficient shock replacement, making it an essential component for both competitive racers and weekend bashers who demand reliability from their RC car suspension systems. Whether you're maintaining your 1/7 scale ARRMA model or upgrading your suspension geometry, this shock set delivers the quality engineering ARRMA is recognised for across their entire range of brushless RC vehicles.

Supplied ready to install with high-quality silicone shock oil pre-filled at 2000cSt viscosity, this shock set eliminates the need for separate oil purchases and reduces installation time significantly. The kit includes two fully assembled shock absorbers, meaning you can have your RC car back on the track or trail with minimal downtime. This is the kind of precision component that separates casual RC enthusiasts from serious hobbyists who understand that suspension performance directly impacts handling, cornering stability and overall driving experience in everything from street bash to competitive racing.

Designed to fit a variety of ARRMA 1/7 scale models including the FELONY 6S AVC, INFRACTION 6S AVC, and LIMITLESS variants, this shock set represents genuine OEM quality. The inclusion of multiple tuning pistons means you're not locked into a single suspension setup—you can dial in the perfect damping characteristics for your specific driving conditions, terrain and personal preference.

Key Features

  • High-Quality Anodised Aluminium Construction — The shock bodies, caps, seal caps and preload adjusters are manufactured from anodised aluminium, providing superior corrosion resistance and durability for outdoor RC car usage in varying UK weather conditions. Anodising creates a protective oxide layer that prevents rust and extends component lifespan significantly compared to untreated metals.
  • Stainless Steel Shock Shafts — Each shock features robust 4mm diameter stainless steel shafts engineered for long-lasting durability and resistance to bending or damage during aggressive driving. Stainless steel's superior strength-to-weight ratio ensures consistent performance without adding unnecessary mass to your RC suspension.
  • Composite Shock Rod Ends and Spring Retainers — These tough composite components provide excellent dampening characteristics whilst remaining lightweight, reducing unsprung mass and improving suspension responsiveness. The composite material offers superior wear resistance compared to plastic alternatives commonly found on budget RC shock sets.
  • Pre-Assembled and Ready to Install — Both shock absorbers arrive completely assembled and filled with 2000cSt silicone shock oil, meaning you can bolt them directly onto your vehicle immediately after selecting your preferred spring. This saves considerable setup time and eliminates potential assembly errors that can compromise suspension performance.
  • Protective Shock Boots Included — The included shock boots shield the shock shafts from dirt, debris and moisture, extending component life and maintaining consistent performance across multiple RC driving sessions. This is essential protection for any RC car that ventures onto dusty or wet terrain.
  • Multiple Tuning Pistons Supplied — The shock set includes four blank tuning pistons, one 8 x 1.4mm hole piston, and one 8 x 1.3mm hole piston, allowing precise damping customisation for different driving styles and track conditions. Different piston orifice sizes change oil flow rates through the shock, directly affecting suspension stiffness and responsiveness.
  • Blank Tuning Pistons for Custom Setup — Four blank pistons enable advanced tuners to drill custom orifice patterns, providing unlimited tuning possibilities for those seeking to extract maximum performance from their RC suspension.
  • Sway Bar Pivot Balls Included — Four additional sway bar pivot balls are provided for complete suspension maintenance and potential geometry adjustments, ensuring you have all necessary components for a complete suspension refresh.

Technical Performance

This ARRMA shock set represents engineering excellence in RC suspension design, combining premium materials with practical performance characteristics. The 16mm bore diameter provides the ideal balance between responsive handling and smooth damping across varying terrain types and driving speeds. At 77mm in length (measured centre to centre), these shocks are specifically engineered for 1/7 scale ARRMA vehicles, ensuring proper suspension geometry and ensuring your RC car maintains the manufacturer's intended handling characteristics. The 2000cSt silicone shock oil provides medium damping characteristics suitable for general purpose driving, street bashing and competitive racing without requiring specialised setup knowledge. The 8 x 1.2mm hole pistons deliver balanced performance across a broad range of conditions. Construction quality throughout demonstrates ARRMA's commitment to reliability—anodised aluminium resists corrosion from moisture and salt (particularly important for UK outdoor driving where weather can be unpredictable), whilst stainless steel shafts eliminate rust concerns even when exposed to damp conditions. The composite rod ends and spring retainers maintain rigidity whilst remaining lightweight, contributing to overall vehicle performance by reducing unsprung mass that can negatively impact suspension responsiveness. For RC enthusiasts seeking replacement shocks with genuine OEM quality and proven reliability, this shock set delivers exceptional value and performance that will satisfy both casual bashers and competition-focused drivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which ARRMA models are compatible with this shock set? — This shock set fits multiple ARRMA 1/7 scale models including the FELONY 6S AVC 4X4 RTR, INFRACTION 6S 4X4 RTR, INFRACTION 6S AVC 4X4 RTR, LIMITLESS 120 8S AVC 4X4 RTR, LIMITLESS 6S 4X4 Roller, and LIMITLESS 6S 4X4 RTR variants. Always verify fitment with your specific model number before ordering to ensure compatibility.
  • Do I need to purchase shock oil separately? — No, the shock absorbers arrive pre-filled with 2000cSt silicone shock oil, eliminating the need for separate purchase and setup. This also means installation is faster and you avoid potential setup errors from improper oil filling.
  • What are the tuning pistons used for? — The tuning pistons control how quickly shock oil flows through the piston orifices, directly affecting suspension damping characteristics. The 8 x 1.4mm and 8 x 1.3mm hole pistons provide softer and firmer damping options respectively, whilst blank pistons can be drilled to custom specifications for advanced tuning.
  • Can I adjust the preload on these shocks? — Yes, the shock set includes preload adjusters, allowing you to modify spring pre-compression. This adjustment changes the starting ride height and affects suspension responsiveness, enabling you to dial in setup for different terrain types and driving styles.
  • What oil viscosity should I use with these shocks? — These shocks are supplied with 2000cSt silicone shock oil, which provides balanced damping suitable for general RC car driving. If you wish to change damping characteristics, alternative viscosity oils (measured in cSt) can be used, but the standard 2000cSt is recommended for most applications.
  • Are these shocks suitable for beginners? — Yes, these shocks are pre-assembled and pre-filled, requiring minimal installation knowledge. You simply bolt them onto your vehicle after choosing your spring preference. The multiple tuning pistons do allow advanced customisation, but the standard setup works excellently for beginners.
  • How do I maintain these shocks? — Clean shocks regularly after outdoor use, particularly after dusty or wet driving sessions. Ensure shock boots remain intact to protect the shafts. If performance degrades, the shocks can be serviced by draining old oil, inspecting internal components, and refilling with fresh shock oil.
  • What is the benefit of the anodised aluminium construction? — Anodising creates a protective oxide layer on aluminium that prevents corrosion and rust, significantly extending component lifespan. This is particularly valuable for UK-based RC enthusiasts where outdoor weather can be damp and unpredictable.
