Overview
The ARRMA Shock Set with 16mm bore and 124mm length is an essential replacement component for RC car enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliable suspension performance. Whether you're a weekend basher or serious competitor, this complete shock assembly offers fast and efficient replacement for worn or damaged suspension components. Designed to fit specific ARRMA models including the 1/8 TALION 6S 4X4 RTR brushless speed truck, these assembled shocks come ready to bolt onto your vehicle after you've selected your preferred spring setup.
This shock set represents genuine ARRMA engineering, providing a pair of fully assembled shock absorbers that eliminate the time-consuming process of manual assembly. Each shock is pre-filled with high-quality 2000cSt silicone shock oil, meaning you get immediate performance without the hassle of sourcing and filling oil separately. For RC car UK enthusiasts looking to maintain peak suspension performance or upgrade their existing setup, this product delivers professional-grade components at a competitive price point.
The comprehensive nature of this kit makes it invaluable for serious RC modellers. Beyond the two assembled shocks, ARRMA supplies multiple tuning pistons, sway bar pivot balls, and protective shock boots, giving you genuine tuning flexibility to dial in exactly the suspension characteristics your driving style demands.
Key Features
- High-quality anodised aluminium construction — The shock bodies, caps, seal caps and preload adjusters are manufactured from anodised aluminium, which provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability for regular RC use in varied UK weather conditions while maintaining a lightweight profile essential for optimal vehicle performance.
- Strong 4mm stainless steel shock shafts — Each shock features robust stainless steel shafts measuring 4mm in diameter, engineered to resist bending and twisting during aggressive driving, ensuring long-lasting durability and consistent performance even under high-stress racing conditions.
- Tough composite shock rod ends and spring retainers — The composite construction of the rod ends and spring retainers provides strength whilst maintaining light weight, reducing unsprung mass for improved handling and responsiveness on track and terrain.
- Pre-filled with 2000cSt silicone shock oil — Each shock comes pre-assembled and filled with premium 2000cSt silicone shock oil, eliminating the need to source and fill oil yourself and ensuring immediate, reliable performance straight from the box.
- Supplied fully assembled and ready to install — Both shocks arrive fully assembled, meaning you simply need to fit your chosen springs and bolt them onto your vehicle, saving hours of build time compared to sourcing individual components.
- Included shock boots for shaft protection — Each shock is fitted with protective boots that shield the shock shaft from dirt, mud and debris, extending the service life of your suspension and maintaining consistent damping performance throughout the season.
- Multiple tuning pistons included — The package supplies 4 blank tuning pistons, 2 × 8 × 1.2mm hole tuning pistons and 2 × 8 × 1.3mm hole tuning pistons, giving you extensive suspension tuning capability to match different track conditions and driving styles without purchasing additional parts.
- Sway bar pivot balls supplied — Four sway bar pivot balls are included, providing everything needed for complete suspension adjustment and ensuring your vehicle handles optimally across various surfaces and conditions.
Technical Performance
These ARRMA shocks represent a complete suspension solution engineered for consistent performance across demanding RC racing and bashing applications. The 16mm bore diameter provides an optimal balance between damping strength and weight, whilst the 124mm centre-to-centre length (measured from the top mounting point to the lower shock eye) ensures proper geometry and suspension travel on compatible ARRMA vehicles. The 2000cSt silicone shock oil fills deliver medium-viscosity damping characteristics, ideal for general-purpose driving across varied UK terrain and track conditions. The standard piston size of 8 × 1.4mm holes, supplemented by the additional tuning pistons supplied, allows precise adjustment of compression and rebound damping without requiring expensive aftermarket modifications. Anodised aluminium construction resists oxidation in wet conditions, whilst stainless steel shafts eliminate rust and maintain smooth operation. The composite rod ends and spring retainers reduce unsprung mass, improving suspension responsiveness and vehicle handling precision. When combined with compatible springs and your choice of vehicle, these shocks deliver professional-grade suspension performance suitable for competitive racing and recreational bashing alike.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these ARRMA shocks fit my RC car? — These shocks are confirmed to fit the ARRMA 1/8 TALION 6S 4X4 RTR brushless speed truck. To verify compatibility with other models, check your vehicle's suspension specifications or contact our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop who can confirm fitment for your specific chassis.
- What does the 2000cSt oil viscosity mean and why does it matter? — The 2000cSt (centistoke) measurement indicates the thickness of the silicone shock oil. Thicker oil (higher cSt rating) creates more damping resistance, slowing down the shock compression and rebound. The 2000cSt oil in this set provides medium damping suitable for general-purpose RC driving across various conditions, balancing responsiveness with bump absorption.
- Can I change the tuning pistons to adjust suspension performance? — Yes, absolutely. The supplied tuning pistons with different hole sizes (blank, 1.2mm, and 1.3mm) allow you to precisely tune suspension damping without purchasing expensive additional parts. Larger piston holes allow faster oil flow and softer suspension, whilst the blank pistons (smallest holes) create firmer damping. Experimenting with different piston combinations lets you dial in your perfect setup.
- Do I need to refill the shock oil when I install these? — No, these shocks arrive pre-filled with 2000cSt silicone shock oil, so they're ready to install immediately. However, over extended use and as seals wear, you may eventually need to top up or completely replace the oil to maintain optimal damping performance.
- What is the difference between the 124mm length and other shock lengths? — ARRMA produces shocks in different lengths including 115mm and 133mm variants. The 124mm length is engineered for specific suspension geometry on compatible models. Using the correct length maintains proper ride height, suspension travel and vehicle handling characteristics. Incorrect shock length can alter weight distribution and suspension performance.
- Are these shocks suitable for beginners? — Whilst these are high-quality replacement shocks, they are primarily designed as a spare or replacement component for existing RC vehicles rather than a standalone beginner product. Beginners should ensure they have a compatible ready-to-run RC vehicle before purchasing. However, experienced users can confidently install and tune these professional-grade components.
- What vehicles do these shocks fit? — These shocks are confirmed compatible with the ARRMA 1/8 TALION 6S 4X4 RTR brushless speed truck. For compatibility with other ARRMA models or vehicles from other manufacturers, we recommend contacting our team who can verify fitment and recommend the correct shock specifications for your particular chassis.
