This component is specifically designed for builders and upgraders looking to improve the structural integrity and tuning flexibility of their ARRMA 1/8 scale vehicles. The shock tower represents the evolution of suspension technology, where traditional plastic components are replaced with aerospace-grade aluminium that simply won't flex or deform under high-speed cornering, landing impacts, or aggressive driving. For those investing in ready to run RC buggies and seeking genuine performance upgrades, this is the kind of component that separates competitive rigs from casual bashers. The TLR (Team Losi Racing) pedigree behind this part means you're getting validated engineering from some of the most respected names in RC racing.

RC enthusiasts in the UK who understand suspension tuning will immediately appreciate how multiple shock and suspension link mounting positions open up advanced setup possibilities. This flexibility transforms a standard chassis into a precision instrument capable of handling different track conditions, driving styles, and competition formats. Whether you're upgrading your TYPHON 6S or maintaining a fleet of RC vehicles, investing in CNC aluminium components like this rear shock tower is the smart choice for reliability, adjustability, and long-term durability.

Key Features

  • CNC Machined 7075-T6 Aluminium Construction — This rear shock tower is precision-engineered from high-quality 7075-T6 aluminium, which is an aerospace-grade alloy selected specifically for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. This means the component will not flex, bend, or deform under the extreme forces generated during high-speed runs, aggressive landings, and competitive racing, ensuring your suspension geometry remains consistent throughout every session.
  • Strategically Reduced Weight Design — Material has been carefully removed from non-critical areas of the shock tower through the CNC machining process, reducing overall weight without sacrificing any structural strength or rigidity. This weight reduction improves your vehicle's power-to-weight ratio, acceleration, and handling characteristics without compromising durability or performance.
  • Hard-Anodized Finish for Protection and Aesthetics — The hard-anodized coating provides a protective barrier against corrosion, impacts, and general wear, whilst delivering that professional TLR Tuned appearance that experienced RC builders and competitors instantly recognise. This finish resists fading, chipping, and oxidation far better than standard anodizing, ensuring your RC car looks pristine through hundreds of hours of use.
  • Laser-Etched TLR Tuned Logo — The precision laser etching adds authenticity and style to your build, demonstrating your commitment to using genuine, quality components from respected racing pedigree. This detail is more than cosmetic; it represents validated engineering from Team Losi Racing, one of the most successful racing programmes in RC history.
  • Multiple Suspension and Shock Mounting Positions — This shock tower features multiple mounting positions for both the shock absorbers and suspension link connections, providing advanced tuning flexibility. These options allow you to adjust suspension geometry, ride height, and handling characteristics to suit different track conditions, driving styles, and racing formats, transforming your RC buggy into a genuinely tuneable platform.
  • Confirmed Compatibility with TYPHON 6S Models — This component is engineered as a direct fit for the ARRMA TYPHON 6S range, including the 1/8 TYPHON 6S 4X4 RTR Brushless Buggy variants and TLR Tuned editions. Whether you're upgrading a Red/Blue RTR model or a specialist TLR Tuned roller, this shock tower integrates seamlessly with your existing chassis.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Rear Shock Tower represents the pinnacle of chassis upgrade engineering for 1/8 scale RC buggies. Constructed from 7075-T6 aluminium, this material is internationally recognised for delivering superior strength compared to standard 6061 aluminium whilst maintaining a weight profile suitable for high-performance RC applications. The CNC machining process ensures tolerances accurate to fractions of a millimetre, meaning each shock tower manufactured meets identical specifications, guaranteeing perfect fitment and geometry alignment with your TYPHON 6S frame. The hard-anodized finish adds approximately 25 microns of protective coating, creating a barrier against moisture, salt, dirt, and mechanical wear that extends component lifespan significantly. For builders running their brushless RC buggies on UK tracks, beaches, or off-road terrain, this durability translates to fewer replacements and more consistent performance throughout the season. The multiple mounting positions address the reality of modern RC suspension tuning: different tracks demand different geometry. By offering several shock and suspension link attachment points, this tower enables experienced builders to fine-tune everything from anti-squat characteristics to ride height and shock angles, giving your RC car the competitive edge when it matters most. Weight reduction through strategic material removal demonstrates ARRMA's engineering maturity; every removed gram is calculated to have negligible impact on structural integrity whilst improving your vehicle's overall power-to-weight ratio and handling response.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which ARRMA vehicles is this rear shock tower compatible with? — This component is manufactured as a standard fit for the ARRMA 1/8 TYPHON 6S range, including the TYPHON 6S 4X4 RTR Brushless Buggy (model ARA106046), the TYPHON 6S 4X4 RTR Brushless Buggy Black Edition (ARA8606V5), the TYPHON 6S TLR Tuned 4X4 Roller in Pink/Purple (ARA8306), and the TYPHON 6S TLR Tuned 4X4 RTR in Red/Blue (ARA8406). Always verify your specific model against the compatibility list before purchasing.
  • Why should I upgrade to an aluminium shock tower instead of keeping the plastic original? — Plastic shock towers flex and deform under the stresses generated by high-speed driving, aggressive cornering, and hard landings, causing your suspension geometry to shift and reducing handling consistency and precision. An aluminium CNC machined component maintains perfect rigidity throughout every session, preserving your carefully tuned suspension setup and delivering predictable, responsive handling. For competitive RC buggy racing or serious weekend bashing, this upgrade dramatically improves performance and reliability.
  • What makes CNC machining different from casting or injection moulding? — CNC machining removes material from a solid block of aluminium using computer-controlled precision, creating exact tolerances and perfect geometry. This process eliminates the porosity, weakness, and inconsistency inherent in cast parts or moulded components. The result is a component with superior strength, durability, and perfect fitment every single time.
  • Will this shock tower improve my lap times? — Absolutely, but not directly. A rigid, properly engineered shock tower allows your suspension tuning to remain effective throughout your run. The multiple mounting positions enable you to optimise your suspension geometry for specific tracks, weather conditions, and driving styles. With a plastic tower that flexes and deforms, your carefully tuned geometry becomes ineffective. An aluminium tower preserves that tuning, allowing you to extract every available tenth of a second from your RC buggy.
  • Is this part easy to install? — Installation difficulty depends on whether you're experienced with RC vehicle disassembly and suspension work. This is a direct replacement for the factory shock tower, so existing bolt holes and mounting points align perfectly. However, removing and installing the shock tower requires removing multiple suspension components. If you're comfortable working on your own RC car, this is a straightforward upgrade. If you're new to RC maintenance, consider asking an experienced builder or visiting your local RC shop for assistance.
  • How does the hard-anodized finish benefit my RC car? — Hard-anodizing creates a protective oxide layer that resists corrosion from moisture, salt spray, and general environmental exposure. This is especially important for UK RC enthusiasts who may run their vehicles near coastal areas or during wet weather. The finish also resists impact damage and general wear better than standard anodizing, keeping your shock tower looking professional and maintaining its structural integrity through years of use.
  • What is TLR Tuned and why does it matter? — TLR stands for Team Losi Racing, one of the most successful racing programmes in RC history. TLR Tuned components are engineered to exacting standards developed through competitive racing experience. Choosing TLR Tuned parts means you're benefiting from innovations proven on the world's most demanding RC tracks and in the hands of professional drivers.
