The 6-pole design of this outrunner motor contributes to its smooth operation and efficient power conversion, translating electrical energy into mechanical motion with minimal waste. This motor is perfect for builders looking to create a mid-range performance platform that won't break the bank, yet delivers professional-grade results. If you are searching for a reliable brushless motor for your RC car UK setup or looking to upgrade an existing model, this Spektrum motor should be high on your shopping list.
Key Features
- 6-Pole Construction — The six-pole design provides a smoother power curve and more efficient commutation than lower-pole-count alternatives, resulting in consistent performance across the entire throttle range and reduced vibration during operation.
- 2400Kv Rating — This Kv (kilovolt) rating determines the motor's speed characteristics and is perfectly suited for mid-range RC applications, delivering strong torque whilst maintaining manageable top speeds that won't exceed the capabilities of standard ESCs and drivetrain components.
- 2847 Motor Size — The physical dimensions of this motor class are optimised for numerous RC platforms, offering excellent power-to-weight ratio and fitting comfortably within most modern RC chassis designs without requiring extensive modifications.
- Brushless Technology — Brushless motors eliminate the carbon brushes and commutator rings found in brushed motors, dramatically reducing maintenance requirements, extending component lifespan, and delivering more efficient power transfer with less heat generation.
- Outrunner Design — Unlike inrunner motors where the bell stays stationary, outrunner motors feature a rotating bell that houses the magnets, allowing direct drive or low-ratio gearing for applications requiring high torque at lower speeds.
- Spektrum Quality Assurance — As an official Spektrum product, this motor benefits from the manufacturer's rigorous quality control standards and engineering expertise, ensuring consistent performance and reliability across every unit produced.
Technical Performance
The SPM BL Outrunner Motor 2847-2400Kv 6-Pole delivers impressive performance characteristics suitable for a wide range of RC applications. The 2847 size designation refers to the motor's physical dimensions, providing an optimal balance between power output and weight. The 2400Kv rating indicates that the motor will achieve 2400 revolutions per minute (RPM) per volt of input, making it ideal for intermediate to high-performance RC vehicles that utilise 3S to 6S LiPo battery packs or equivalent NiMH configurations. The six-pole stator design ensures smooth acceleration and deceleration curves, reducing mechanical stress on drivetrain components and extending their operational lifespan. This brushless outrunner motor requires a compatible brushless ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) to operate—typically rated for 30A to 100A depending on your specific application and driving style. The motor's construction utilises high-quality materials and precision winding to maximise efficiency and minimise heat generation during extended running sessions. With proper cooling and appropriate battery selection, this motor is capable of sustained high-performance operation without overheating. The outrunner configuration allows for flexible gearing options, enabling builders to fine-tune performance characteristics to match their specific RC vehicle's intended use, whether that is racing, bashing, or technical driving. Built to Spektrum's exacting standards, this motor represents excellent value for UK RC enthusiasts seeking dependable brushless performance without premium pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between brushless and brushed RC motors, and why should I choose brushless? — Brushless motors eliminate carbon brushes and commutator rings, resulting in significantly lower maintenance requirements, longer operational lifespan, superior efficiency, and more consistent power delivery. Brushed motors require regular maintenance as brushes gradually wear, whereas brushless motors can run for years with virtually no wear on critical components. For serious RC enthusiasts in the UK, brushless motors have become the standard choice due to these substantial advantages.
- What does the 2400Kv rating mean and how does it affect my RC vehicle's performance? — Kv stands for kilovolt and indicates the motor's speed constant—specifically how many RPM the motor will spin per volt of input voltage. A 2400Kv motor will spin at 2400 RPM per volt, meaning with a 3S LiPo battery (11.1V nominal), the motor would theoretically achieve around 26,400 RPM at full throttle. Higher Kv ratings produce more speed but less torque, while lower Kv ratings produce more torque but less speed. The 2400Kv rating makes this motor suitable for a broad range of RC applications requiring balanced speed and torque characteristics.
- Which ESC and battery should I use with the 2847-2400Kv motor? — This motor works with brushless ESCs rated between 30A and 100A, depending on your intended use and vehicle weight. Battery-wise, the motor is compatible with 3S to 6S LiPo packs or equivalent cell-count NiMH batteries. Your specific ESC and battery selection should match your RC vehicle's requirements and your driving style—lighter vehicles and smooth driving typically require smaller, lower-amperage ESCs, whilst heavier vehicles and aggressive driving benefit from higher-rated components.
- Is the Spektrum 2847-2400Kv motor suitable for beginners? — Yes, this motor is excellent for builders of all experience levels. Brushless motors are easier to maintain than brushed alternatives, and the 2400Kv rating provides a forgiving power band suitable for learning. The 6-pole design delivers smooth, predictable performance without sudden power surges, making it ideal for developing driving skills and vehicle control.
- What makes the 6-pole design special compared to other motor options? — The six-pole stator design creates smoother commutation and more efficient magnetic field transitions, resulting in reduced vibration, more linear throttle response, and better heat management. Compared to lower-pole-count motors, the 6-pole design provides a buttery-smooth power delivery that many RC enthusiasts prefer, particularly for precision driving and competition use.
- Can I use this motor in different types of RC vehicles? — The 2847-2400Kv motor's versatile Kv rating and size make it suitable for various RC platforms including cars, buggies, trucks, and even certain aircraft applications. However, successful implementation depends on proper gearing selection, appropriate ESC rating, and compatible mechanical components. Consult your specific RC vehicle's documentation or contact RC Model Shop for application-specific guidance.
