Key Features
- 40 Amps Continuous / 55 Amps Burst Current — The ESC delivers up to 40 amps of continuous current (with proper cooling and airflow) and can handle peak burst loads of 55 amps for 15 seconds, giving you the headroom to run demanding brushless motors or perform aggressive manoeuvres without triggering protection cutoffs during normal operation.
- Integrated 5A Continuous Switch-Mode BEC at 5V — The built-in Battery Elimination Circuit provides 5 amps of continuous current at a regulated 5-volt output, sufficient to power the receiver and up to 7 analogue or 6 digital standard-sized servos simultaneously, eliminating the need for a separate battery pack and reducing overall system weight and complexity.
- Enhanced BEC for 3-Axis Stabilisation Systems — The stronger BEC design specifically supports most modern 3-axis gyroscopic stabilisation systems commonly found in RC helicopters and advanced flight control systems, providing the stable, clean power these sensitive flight control electronics demand.
- Flexible Battery Compatibility — The ESC accepts input from 3- to 6-cell lithium polymer batteries (9.9V to 22.2V) or 9- to 18-cell nickel-metal hydride/nickel-cadmium battery packs, making it compatible with virtually any modern brushless RC setup you might already own or plan to build.
- Programmable Motor Braking — You can enable and adjust regenerative or active motor braking, allowing your brushless motor to help slow the model and reduce coasting, which is particularly valuable in competitive racing or precision flying scenarios.
- Safe Power-Arm Mode — This protective feature prevents accidental motor starts by requiring a deliberate arming sequence, protecting yourself, bystanders and your RC model from unexpected spinning propellers or wheels before you're ready to operate.
- Programmable Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC) — The ESC includes pre-programmed low voltage protection tailored to your specific battery chemistry, with settings optimised for 3-cell (9.2V), 4-cell (12V), 5-cell (15V) and 6-cell (18V) LiPo packs, or alternatively, you can select 74% of your battery's starting voltage for automatic battery protection.
- Adjustable Throttle Input Range — Programming options allow you to set the throttle input range to either 1.1ms–1.9ms or 1.2ms–1.8ms, ensuring precise calibration with your specific radio transmitter and receiver for dead-zone-free control.
- Programmable Soft Start — Helicopters and aeroplanes benefit from ramped motor acceleration rather than instant throttle engagement; this feature allows smooth power application, protecting gearboxes, drivetrain components and ensuring stable flight characteristics.
- Automatic Signal Loss Protection — If your radio signal is lost or interference is detected, the motor automatically shuts down, preventing runaway behaviour and keeping your RC model safe in the event of radio connection failure.
- Five User-Selectable Timing Ranges — The programmable timing feature offers five different motor timing configurations, allowing you to optimise performance across a vast range of brushless motor types and KV ratings for maximum efficiency and responsiveness.
- EC3 Connector — The industry-standard EC3 connector ensures broad compatibility with most modern brushless batteries and accessories commonly found in the RC hobby, and the 3.5mm bullet connector output can be adapted to match your motor connector type.
Technical Performance
The E-flite 40-Amp Lite Pro Switch-Mode BEC Brushless ESC (V2) is engineered with the latest sensorless brushless ESC technology, combining efficient power delivery with intelligent thermal management. The switch-mode BEC design operates far more efficiently than older linear BEC designs, generating less heat and preserving battery capacity for motor power rather than wasting it as heat in voltage regulation circuits. This is particularly important when running on higher-voltage battery packs such as 5S and 6S LiPo batteries, where linear BECs would become inefficient and potentially overheat. The ESC's sensorless brushless architecture means there are no sensor wires to run to the motor, simplifying installation in tight spaces common in competition-grade RC cars, lightweight aircraft and compact helicopter frames. With a 40-amp continuous rating and 55-amp burst capacity, this ESC is well-suited to motors in the mid-range, handling anything from efficient 2200–3200KV brushless outrunners in lightweight aircraft to higher-torque, lower-KV motors in RC cars and trucks. The programmable nature of the ESC means you're not locked into a single configuration; timing, braking, throttle response and protection thresholds can all be adjusted via a programming card or compatible transmitter interface, making this ESC an excellent long-term investment that will work with multiple brushless setups throughout your RC journey.
