Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the Firma 3660 3200Kv and other Spektrum Firma motors in the range? — The 3200Kv rating positions this motor in the mid-range of the Firma lineup. Spektrum offers various alternatives such as the Firma 3800Kv 4-Pole (offering higher RPM but potentially less torque) and the Firma 3668 2800Kv 4-Pole (providing lower RPM with increased torque characteristics). Your choice depends on your specific application—higher KV ratings favour speed-oriented setups, whilst lower KV ratings excel in torque-heavy applications.
- Is the Firma 3660 3200Kv motor suitable for beginners? — Yes, this motor is suitable for RC enthusiasts of varying skill levels. The 3200Kv rating provides predictable, manageable performance that isn't overly aggressive, making it appropriate for those learning brushless motor characteristics. However, beginners should ensure they pair it with an appropriate ESC rated for the motor's power output and a compatible LiPo battery with adequate discharge rating.
- What battery does the Firma 3660 3200Kv motor need? — The motor is rated for 1150W output on a 3S LiPo battery configuration, making 3S the recommended choice for optimal performance. The motor will operate on lower cell counts like 2S with reduced output, and may also function with 4S batteries, though this would exceed the rated specifications and may require a suitable speed controller. Always match your battery's maximum continuous discharge rate (C-rating) to your ESC's current capacity to ensure safe, reliable operation.
- What ESC should I pair with the Firma 3660 3200Kv motor? — The motor features standard 4mm bullet connectors, making it compatible with any quality brushless ESC rated for appropriate voltage (2S-4S) and current handling. You should select an ESC with sufficient current rating to safely deliver power to the motor during peak demand. Spektrum offers compatible options in their Avian Smart ESC lineup, available in various amperage ratings to match your specific setup requirements.
- Can this motor be used in different types of RC cars? — Yes, the compact 3660 size and standard 5mm shaft make this motor suitable for various RC car applications, from on-road racing setups to off-road buggies and touring cars. The versatility of this motor size means it can be adapted to many chassis designs, though you should verify compatibility with your specific vehicle before purchase.
- How does brushless technology benefit this motor compared to brushed alternatives? — Brushless motors like the Firma 3660 offer several advantages over brushed motors: they require no brush maintenance, produce cleaner power delivery with less electrical noise, generate less heat during operation, provide better efficiency at converting electrical power to mechanical motion, and typically offer extended lifespan due to elimination of brush wear components.
- What is the customer rating for the Firma 3660 3200Kv motor? — This motor has achieved a solid 4.3 out of 5 customer rating, reflecting genuine user satisfaction with its performance, reliability, and value for money. Real customers appreciate its smooth operation and dependable performance across various driving conditions.
