Overview
The SPM Brushless Outrunner Motor (2832-1300Kv 14-Pole) is a compact, high-performance brushless motor purpose-built for parkflyer aircraft and lightweight RC aeroplanes. Manufactured by Spektrum, this motor combines precision engineering with reliability, making it an ideal choice for RC plane enthusiasts looking to upgrade their aircraft with brushless propulsion. Whether you're a seasoned RC flyer in the UK or new to electric-powered RC aircraft, this brushless motor delivers consistent performance and smooth operation that brushed alternatives simply cannot match.
This particular motor is specifically engineered for the HobbyZone Apprentice S 2 aeroplane, though its specifications make it suitable for a range of similar parkflyer aircraft. The 1300Kv rating provides an excellent balance between speed and torque, allowing for responsive control and efficient flight characteristics across a variety of flying conditions. If you're searching for a reliable brushless RC aircraft motor or looking to upgrade your existing RC plane UK setup, this Spektrum outrunner motor represents excellent value and proven performance from a trusted manufacturer in the RC hobby market.
Brushless motors have revolutionised the RC aircraft world, offering dramatically longer flight times, smoother operation, reduced maintenance requirements, and superior power delivery compared to traditional brushed motors. The outrunner design of this motor means the rotating outer bell houses the magnets, which is the preferred configuration for direct-drive applications in many RC aeroplanes. With its compact 28mm diameter and lightweight construction, this motor is designed to minimise weight whilst maximising efficiency—a critical consideration when every gram affects your aircraft's performance and battery runtime.
Key Features
- Brushless Outrunner Design — The outrunner configuration positions the rotating magnets on the outer bell, which is the optimal design for RC aircraft applications, delivering smooth, reliable power with minimal vibration and superior efficiency compared to brushed motors or inrunner alternatives.
- 1300Kv Rating — This moderate Kv rating strikes an ideal balance between motor speed and torque, making it perfectly suited for parkflyer aircraft where you need responsive control without excessive current draw or heat generation.
- 14-Pole Configuration — The 14-pole design provides smooth power delivery and reduced cogging, which translates to more consistent, predictable flight characteristics and better overall controllability in the air.
- Compact 28mm Diameter — With an outer diameter of just 1.1 inches (28mm), this motor is exceptionally lightweight and compact, allowing it to fit into tight engine bays typical of parkflyer aircraft without adding unnecessary weight that would reduce flight performance.
- 3.5mm Bullet Connectors — The motor features standard 3.5mm bullet connectors, which are the industry-standard connection type for RC aircraft electronics, ensuring broad compatibility with ESCs and wiring systems you may already own or plan to purchase.
- Proven Performance in HobbyZone Apprentice S 2 — This motor is the factory-fitted option for the popular HobbyZone Apprentice S 2 aeroplane, meaning it has been tested and validated by the manufacturer specifically for this excellent trainer aircraft platform.
- Parkflyer Classification — Classified as a parkflyer motor, this unit is engineered specifically for small, lightweight aircraft that operate in smaller flying spaces, making it ideal for indoor flying or confined outdoor areas where larger RC planes cannot be flown.
Technical Performance
The SPM Brushless Outrunner Motor represents the pinnacle of efficient, lightweight power delivery for RC aircraft applications. At just 28mm in diameter and 32mm in length, this motor is extraordinarily compact, yet it packs genuine performance that will transform your parkflyer experience. The brushless design means there are no carbon brushes to wear out, resulting in a motor that will provide years of reliable service with minimal maintenance—simply keep the bearings clean and free from debris, and this motor will reward you with consistent, trouble-free operation flight after flight. The 1300Kv specification indicates that this motor will spin approximately 1300 revolutions per minute for every volt supplied, a characteristic that makes it ideal for direct-drive propeller applications common in parkflyer aircraft. The 14-pole architecture ensures exceptionally smooth operation with virtually no cogging or vibration, which is crucial for stable flight and accurate control response. The outrunner design, with its rotating outer bell, is particularly well-suited to RC aircraft because it provides direct mechanical advantage and can be coupled directly to a propeller without the need for reduction gearing, simplifying the drivetrain and reducing mechanical losses. Engineers have crafted this motor using quality materials and precision manufacturing to ensure reliable performance in the demanding environment of RC flight, where vibration, temperature variations, and continuous load changes are constant challenges. The 3.5mm bullet connectors utilise industry-standard sizing, ensuring that you can seamlessly integrate this motor with most modern RC aircraft ESCs and wiring harnesses without requiring adapters or modifications.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the SPM Brushless Outrunner Motor suitable for my RC aeroplane? — This motor is specifically engineered for the HobbyZone Apprentice S 2 aircraft, but its specifications make it compatible with other similar parkflyer aeroplanes. Before purchasing, verify that your aircraft's motor bay dimensions accommodate the 28mm diameter and 32mm length, and confirm that your ESC and battery system can properly drive a 1300Kv brushless motor. Consult your aircraft's manual or contact the manufacturer to ensure compatibility with your specific model.
- What battery voltage does this brushless motor require? — The motor itself is voltage-agnostic and will operate across a range of voltages from 2S LiPo (7.4V) through to higher voltage systems, though the 1300Kv rating and compact design are optimised for lower-voltage parkflyer applications. Consult your aircraft manufacturer's recommendations and your ESC's voltage rating to determine the proper battery voltage for your specific setup. Most parkflyer aircraft use 2S or 3S LiPo batteries, which provide the perfect power envelope for this motor's characteristics.
- Is this a brushless motor, and what are the advantages over brushed motors? — Yes, this is a genuine brushless outrunner motor, which means it uses electronic commutation via an ESC rather than mechanical carbon brushes. Brushless motors deliver dramatically longer flight times because they are far more efficient, they run cooler with less heat waste, they require virtually no maintenance because there are no brushes to wear out, and they produce significantly smoother power delivery with less vibration, resulting in better flight control and more predictable handling characteristics.
- What does the 1300Kv rating mean for my RC aircraft? — Kv is the speed constant that indicates how many RPM (revolutions per minute) the motor will turn per volt of electrical input. A 1300Kv rating means this motor will turn approximately 1300 RPM for every volt supplied. This moderate Kv value is ideal for parkflyer aircraft because it provides a good balance between speed and torque, allowing efficient propeller-driven flight without excessive power draw or heat generation, and it matches the design parameters of aircraft like the HobbyZone Apprentice S 2.
- What is an outrunner motor and why is it used in RC aircraft? — An outrunner motor has the rotating magnets mounted on the outer bell that spins around a stationary core, which is the opposite of an inrunner design. Outrunners are preferred for RC aircraft because they naturally produce high torque at lower speeds, can be coupled directly to a propeller without gearing, and deliver the smooth, efficient power characteristics essential for stable, responsive flight in small aeroplanes.
- What is the 14-pole configuration? — The 14-pole design refers to the number of magnetic poles (14 in this case) arranged around the motor's stator or rotor. More poles result in smoother power delivery and less cogging, which means this motor will provide exceptionally consistent, vibration-free operation—a critical characteristic for RC aircraft where smooth power delivery directly translates to stable flight and precise control response.
- Are the 3.5mm bullet connectors standard? — Yes, 3.5mm bullet connectors are the industry-standard connector type for RC aircraft motors and ESCs. This means the motor will integrate seamlessly with most modern RC aircraft ESCs without requiring adapters or modifications, though you should always verify connector compatibility before purchasing.
