Overview

The E-flite BL180 Brushless Outrunner Motor – 3000Kv (Reversed) is a dependable and straightforward brushless motor solution designed specifically for model aircraft projects. Whether you're building a new RC aeroplane, upgrading an existing airframe, or looking for a reliable brushless RC motor for your aircraft application, this motor delivers the performance and simplicity you need. The reversed configuration makes it ideal for builders who require a motor spinning in the opposite direction to standard setups, ensuring compatibility with your specific aircraft design and flight characteristics.

This brushless outrunner motor is engineered for ease of installation and reliable operation in RC aircraft of various types and sizes. The flat connector design allows for straightforward integration into your model's power system, whilst the fixed timing approach keeps setup uncomplicated – there's no need to adjust timing parameters before flight. Whether you're an experienced RC enthusiast or exploring the world of brushless RC aircraft power systems for the first time, the BL180 3000Kv offers the dependability and performance you can rely on.

At RC Model Shop, we're proud to stock genuine E-flite components for aircraft builders and RC flyers across the UK. The BL180 is a respected choice among modellers who demand quality and consistency in their aircraft motors, and we have it available now to help you get your project airborne.

Key Features

  • Brushless Outrunner Design — This motor uses brushless technology, which delivers superior reliability, longevity and efficiency compared to traditional brushed motors, reducing maintenance requirements and providing consistent power delivery throughout your flying sessions.
  • 3000Kv Rating — The 3000Kv specification indicates this motor's rotational speed constant, making it suitable for a specific range of aircraft applications where this power band is called for in your build plans or design specifications.
  • Reversed Configuration — This version is specifically configured to rotate in the reverse direction, which is essential for models that require counter-rotating or reversed motor setups to match your airframe's design requirements and achieve proper flight balance.
  • Fixed Timing (Non-Adjustable) — The motor comes with fixed timing, eliminating the need for timing adjustments during setup and making the installation process simpler and more straightforward for builders of all experience levels.
  • Flat Connector — The flat connector type ensures easy, reliable connections to your ESC and power system, allowing for quick installation and secure electrical contact without complicated wiring procedures.
  • Aircraft-Specific Design — This motor is purpose-built for aeroplane applications, meaning every aspect of its engineering is optimised for the unique power demands and flight characteristics of RC aircraft rather than other vehicle types.

Technical Performance

The E-flite BL180 represents a purpose-engineered solution for RC aircraft power systems. As a brushless outrunner motor, this design places the rotating bell outside the stator, a configuration that's widely preferred in modern RC aircraft applications because it offers excellent power-to-weight ratios and efficient cooling characteristics. The 3000Kv rating specifies the motor's sensitivity to voltage – essentially, how many revolutions per minute the motor will turn per volt applied – making it suitable for specific aircraft designs and battery configurations where the manufacturer or your build plan specifies this particular Kv value. The reversed rotation direction accommodates aircraft designs where counter-rotating motors are required, whether for multi-motor aircraft seeking balanced handling or for specific airframe configurations detailed in your construction plans. The fixed timing eliminates variables during setup, meaning your motor comes ready to operate without the complexity of adjustable timing parameters that might require specialist knowledge or additional equipment to configure correctly. The flat connector provides a standardised connection point that integrates easily with compatible ESCs and power distribution systems commonly used in RC aircraft projects. Build quality is consistent with E-flite's reputation for dependable RC components, and the brushless construction means you'll experience minimal wear and maintenance compared to brushed alternatives, allowing you to focus on flying rather than ongoing motor maintenance and brush replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 3000Kv mean on this brushless motor? — Kv is the motor constant that indicates how many revolutions per minute (RPM) the motor will turn for each volt of electrical power applied to it. A 3000Kv motor will spin at 3000 RPM per volt, so the actual RPM depends on your battery voltage and throttle position. This specification is critical for matching the motor to your aircraft design and battery system.
  • What is the difference between reversed and standard motor configurations? — The reversed configuration means this motor rotates in the opposite direction to a standard BL180 motor. This is essential for certain aircraft designs, particularly multi-motor aircraft where you need counter-rotating propellers, or for specific airframes where the design plans specify a reversed motor to achieve proper handling and thrust vector balance.
  • What battery voltage does this motor need? — The source does not specify battery voltage compatibility. We recommend contacting RC Model Shop directly at 01543 577278 to confirm the appropriate battery type and voltage range for your specific aircraft application, as this will depend on your ESC specifications and airframe design.
  • Is this motor suitable for beginners? — The BL180 is suitable for builders of various experience levels. The brushless design and fixed timing make it straightforward to install without complex configuration. However, you'll need to ensure compatibility with your chosen ESC and understand your aircraft's power requirements. If you're new to brushless RC aircraft, our team at RC Model Shop can help guide you through the selection process.
  • What type of aircraft can use this motor? — This motor is designed for aeroplane applications generally. The specific aircraft types suited to the 3000Kv BL180 depend on the aircraft's weight, size, design and intended flight characteristics. We recommend checking your build plans or contacting our team to confirm this motor matches your specific model.
  • Do I need an ESC for this motor? — Yes, a brushless motor requires a compatible Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) to regulate power delivery. The flat connector on this motor will connect to your ESC, which in turn connects to your radio receiver and battery system. The ESC type and current rating you need depends on your motor's power requirements and aircraft specifications.
