SAFE technology

Bind-N-Fly Completion Level Advantage

Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!

This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring AS3X (Artificial Stabilisation–3-aXis) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence. The result is a heightened sense of stability and precision that makes you feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft.

If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarising yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. Simply change up the binding sequence as directed in the manual.

With SAFE Select enabled, you get:

Pitch and Bank Angle Limits

  • These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles.

Automatic Self-Leveling

  • The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the center position. It's also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings.

Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required

  • The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds.

If you don't want to enable the SAFE Select features, just bind the receiver normally and it will function like a standard AS3X receiver.

Overview

The E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m BNF Basic is a modern update to one of the most beloved sport scale RC aircraft in the hobby. Originally introduced as a ParkZone model over a decade ago, the T-28 Trojan quickly became a favourite among low-time and experienced pilots alike, thanks to its authentic scale looks based on the North American Aviation T-28 Trojan trainer aircraft used by the US Navy from 1952 to 1984, combined with exceptional handling characteristics and no bad flying habits. Now comprehensively updated and upgraded, this latest version is more powerful, more capable, and more fun to fly than ever before, making it the perfect next step for anyone transitioning from a trainer aircraft to their first sport, low-wing, or warbird model. Whether you're shopping for a ready-to-fly RC plane in the UK or looking to expand your RC aircraft collection, the T-28 Trojan 1.1m delivers genuine sport flying performance with scale aesthetics that simply cannot be matched at this price point.

The beauty of this BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic model lies in its accessibility combined with serious capability. All the complex components—brushless motor, ESC, servos, and Spektrum receiver—come pre-installed and factory-tuned, meaning you only need to add a compatible transmitter and LiPo battery to be airborne. The reinforced composite EPO airframe has been engineered to handle both gentle scale flying and spirited aerobatic manoeuvres, whilst the fixed tricycle undercarriage with steerable nose wheel keeps handling predictable and forgiving for pilots of all skill levels. The fully-painted high-visibility yellow and black trim scheme ensures the T-28 is easy to track in the sky, whilst the convenient 1.1-metre wingspan makes it suitable for flying at large parks and sports fields across the UK, as well as traditional RC flying fields with paved, dirt, or grass surfaces.

What sets the T-28 Trojan 1.1m apart from other sport aircraft in its class is the combination of modern avionics and flight stabilisation technology. The factory-installed Spektrum AR631 receiver features AS3X (Artificial Stabilization–3-aXis) technology, which continuously monitors aircraft attitude and smooths out the disruptive effects of wind gusts and turbulence. For pilots seeking additional assistance, the optional-use SAFE Select flight envelope protection can be enabled with just a simple binding procedure—no complex programming required. This means pitch and bank angle limits prevent over-aggressive inputs, whilst automatic self-levelling ensures the aircraft returns to level flight when the sticks are released, making it particularly valuable for those still mastering slow-speed approaches and landings.

Key Features

  • Brushless Power System with Telemetry Capability — The factory-installed brushless outrunner motor and 30-amp ESC are specially tuned to deliver abundant thrust on 3S LiPo batteries for excellent sport performance, or more speed and unlimited vertical aerobatic capability on 4S batteries without requiring any modifications or upgrades. This ensures you have access to telemetry data and flight assistance features whilst enjoying the security of proven Spektrum radio technology.
  • BNF Basic Completion Level — As a Bind-N-Fly aircraft, the T-28 Trojan arrives with all essential systems installed and ready to bind with your existing Spektrum transmitter. If you already own a compatible Spektrum radio system, you simply bind the receiver, charge a battery, and fly—no additional radio equipment purchase required unless you prefer a newer transmitter model.
  • Scale-Like Appearance with Sport Handling — The faithful scale representation of the historic T-28 Trojan trainer combines authentic proportions, detailed paint scheme, and scale-like flying characteristics with genuinely sporty performance capabilities. This balance makes the T-28 ideal for pilots who appreciate warbird aesthetics but don't want a temperamental or demanding aircraft to fly.
  • Specially-Tuned Motor Compatible with Both 3S and 4S Batteries — The motor has been carefully calibrated to perform optimally across the popular 3S 11.1V and 4S 14.8V battery voltage ranges, with recommended capacity between 1800–2200mAh. This compatibility means you can start with affordable 3S batteries for learning and sport flying, then progress to 4S batteries when you want more speed and unlimited vertical performance—all without mechanical modifications.

Technical Performance

The E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m delivers impressive performance through intelligent engineering and modern brushless power technology. The 3626-size brushless outrunner motor paired with the 30-amp telemetry-capable electronic speed controller creates a power system that's remarkably versatile across different flying styles and experience levels. With a 3S 2200mAh battery (the most popular configuration), pilots can expect excellent all-round performance suitable for scale-like gentle flying, smooth aerobatic manoeuvres, and spirited sport flying. Upgrading to a 4S 14.8V battery increases available power substantially, enabling higher speeds, more aggressive aerobatic performance, and unlimited vertical capability without requiring any mechanical modifications to the airframe or power system. The 9.5-inch (241mm) propeller has been sized and balanced to extract maximum efficiency from the motor across both voltage ranges. The lightweight composite-reinforced EPO airframe weighs just 855 grams without battery, and 1080 grams when equipped with a typical 4S 2200mAh battery, keeping wing loading moderate for gentle flying characteristics whilst maintaining sufficient structural rigidity for aerobatic manoeuvres. The fixed tricycle landing gear with steerable nose wheel provides stable ground handling and enables easy crosswind landings, whilst the high-visibility paint scheme in yellow and black ensures excellent visibility during flight. With a wingspan of 1118 millimetres (44 inches) and length of 914 millimetres (36 inches), the T-28 occupies a sweet spot in aircraft sizing—large enough to feel substantial and fly smoothly through turbulence, yet small enough to operate from parks and smaller flying fields across the UK. The wing area of 314 square inches provides excellent wing loading characteristics that support both slow-speed scale flying and higher-energy aerobatics, making this aircraft genuinely versatile across different flying scenarios and skill levels.

These upgrades transform the T-28 from a gentle sport model into a genuinely capable aircraft that can tackle serious aerobatic flying whilst retaining the forgiving handling characteristics that made the original so popular.
  • Can I use this aircraft in the rain or wet conditions? — Whilst the electronics are generally moisture-resistant, RC aircraft should ideally be flown in dry conditions. The composite-reinforced EPO airframe is durable and can handle the occasional moisture exposure, but you should avoid deliberate water contact and ensure the aircraft is allowed to dry thoroughly before storing it. Always check your receiver and ESC documentation for specific moisture resistance ratings if you plan to fly in damp conditions.
  • How much assembly is required, and how quickly can I get it flying? — The T-28 Trojan features an exceptionally quick and straightforward final assembly with absolutely no glue required. All major systems—motor, ESC, servos, and receiver—come pre-installed and factory-tuned. You simply need to attach the wing, install your battery, bind the receiver to your transmitter, and you're ready to fly. The entire process typically takes less than 30 minutes, making this one of the fastest ready-to-fly RC aircraft you can get in the UK hobby market.
  • Where can I fly this aircraft in the UK? — The T-28 Trojan is suitable for flying at any traditional RC flying field with paved, dirt, or grass surfaces. Additionally, the convenient size allows skilled pilots to fly at large parks and sports fields across the UK, though you should always ensure you have permission and that the area is clear of people and obstacles. The fixed landing gear enables operations from unprepared grass fields as well as smooth surfaces.
